I really hit the lotto

Oh Kell, I started at the top of this thread andhave worked my way down. The pictures of the flowers just keep getting better and better. The one that is form the morning of hte 19th, with the darker centre, is breathtaking.

If it wasn't too late, i'd give my first born to you & Monika. You both have done a splendid job on this one.

Oh Kell, I wish I had Monika seedlings ready to bloom. Remember I lost all of them when we had torrential rains for a week on and off and I was not here. Just made me sick inside.

Hopefully, when we get finished with the country house, and move in, and then I can fix me a nice plot to grow things and tend to them better. I have some of your seedlings but they are slow growing in this extreme heat and are not near as large as they should be. Right now I am tired and frustrated but things will be better later on.

It has been really hard living at two places and doing major projects at one of them since January. Wood floors will go in next week and after that, we are going to slow down a little until fall when we need to paint and do other projects outside. The setting is so peaceful and I look forward to relocating there. It is funny to think that we bought this house and property for an investment and after spending lots of time there working........we now find ourselves not wanting to leave it and come home. Life is surprising and I have learned once again to never say "never"..........lol

Your place sounds wonderful, Nanny............a sanctuary, if you will....=)

I would like to thank all of you for the nice words. It makes me glad to see that all my planning and working to create double Pinks for my friends in the US has been fruitful.

But it is very dissappointing to find out, that the agreements, that were made among the people involved, apparently are not kept.
It was agreed that cuttings of quality seedlings would be traded among each other.
Therefore, I do not understand why Kell refuses to stick to the agreement, while Brugie shared the double Pinks among the group, she had grown out of my seeds last year.
But perhaps in all the excitement, Kell has forgotten about it.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Hi Monika, it is just beautiful, good work and thanks for making it possible for your beauties to be grown in the USA.

I'm sure Kell will share, she said in her post July 15, 2:17 PM that she had taken side growth to start rootings. If it is still full of buds and blooms, I'm sure she doesn't want to cut on it now.

We all look forward to the day that a double pink will bloom in our own garden. LindaSC

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Thank you Linda. I am sure you dont have to wait too long until this will happen.

Springfield, OH(Zone 5b)

Kell.. AMazing and lovely.. wow.. I am speechless

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I know Kell is going to share, she's already said she would. Geez, the plant just bloomed. I don't think anyone could expect her to chop it up immediately and send out cuttings. No one else would. I think people just get impatient sometimes.
Kell, it's beautiful! My Monika seedlings were full of buds and Y's but thanks to Emily, they are topless! I know there is still a lot of growing season left and they will recover fast!

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Hi Susie, glad you're alright. Sorry your plants were damaged, but they will re-grow.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Yep, no serious damage, just a lot of clean-up. An orchid tree is leaning badly(and RK is right under it, on the side that will get squished). DH tried to fix it, the key word here is "tried" lol. He cut a branch off, it fell over the fence, squished a seedling(yep, it's in a million pieces), squished a Dutchman's pipevine, squished a night blooming jasmine. I finally told him to just go play in some other part of the yard!

Whitewater, WI

I'm afraid I have to chime in here when it comes to the question or feeling that Kell won't honor an agreement that would have her sharing her double pink.

First off, time will tell if she will tho she always has in the past. Plus the fact that she already posted about taking cuttings soon to root would make one think it's in her plans.

However, I'm confused how "the agreement" works at this stage. The point that "Brugie shared the double pinks among the group she had grown out of my seeds last year." isn't an accurate statement since I never received any. Am I to assume that "in all the excitement Brugie has forgotten about it"? Or is it that since I'm no longer in the group, just like Kell isn't, the agreements have expired?

I'm not implying that I should be expecting anything from Brugie but the point is that "agreements" should be consistent. Either they stay firm based on plants and plants only or other factors can make them null and void. It has to be one or the other IMO....

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Thank you Eva. Thank you Susie. You guys are so nice.

I have emailed Monika the facts. So no need to get into this on here. It solves nothing. PLEASE do not fight especially on my behalf.

DAVE DOES NOT WANT US TO FIGHT OVER BRUGS ON THE BRUG FORUM!!

I know people are desperate for a double pink. I was also before I had one. It is hard to wait for this one I know, it is so special. But wait everyone must. I am not going to cut it to pieces. I will only take side shoots off.

SO PLEASE NO FIGHTING OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whitewater, WI

Amen..... :)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I wish I had done that too. I'm starting from scratch this year now just like those that got cuttings, but I did share and I'm glad that members of the group got the cuttings.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Its nice to see you Eva. How is your double doing? I hope, she blooms nice.

Whitewater, WI

Hello, Monika
Nice to see you too. :)

My old doubles, Creamsicle-Species-GL-Peach, are blooming their little heads off but sorry to say, as of yet, we haven't been fortunate enough to get a double pink from your seeds. I have some from last year that didn't bloom yet that I still have such high hopes for. I did have a nice double white from the Carmella cross last year. She's ready to bloom again and I will keep you posted...

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Thank you Eva.

I don't see the reference, Julie, long thread, but it might be in reference to color??

Phormium. Sorry, coming in at the end of a long thread.

Kell,

You have mail

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

I've found that Shirley (Brugie) is always more than generous in sharing whatever plant or seeds she has, but like anything else there is just so much to go around.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Yep - it hurts to do that. And I think my eyes hurt and are possibly bleeding after seeing the rest of this thread! Dare I get out the visine and put this on my watch list? lol! Love the bag lady!

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

I have enjoyed this thread tremendously!!!...albeit a bit confusing! I feel like Eva's cat...in awe!!! Kell, you are really a kick!

Is there a brug named Monica?

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Carole, yes there is :-)

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

I am willing to take a cutting from anyone with a double pink that wants to share with me...I can dream can't it !!!

Kell and monika...your new double pink is just beautiful !!!

I can't help but keep coming back to view the photos on this thread. This is truly the most beautiful brug I have ever seen. They just keep getting better, don't they? Congratulations to Kell and Monika!

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

It is a treat for the eyes, isn't it. We've seen some real beauties on this site but this one still lights up the computer screen and fires up my imagination. Can you imagine a row of these babies lining a driveway. You'd think you were driving to heaven. Put the top down on the convertible so you can drink in the fragrance. Ahhhhhh

Thanks so much. Funny you bring this thread up tonight. We just got home from dinner and I went around the house taking pictures. I took a few of this double just 10 minutes ago. A few flowers opened today while I was out. They are as pretty as ever. Tomorrow they will pick up more color.

I think I need to dig thru my bagged cuttings and see if ones from this brug rooted or died. If good, I think I will plant one in the garden.

That flower really rocks! Everything about it is so lovely. And i am not a huge pink fan. I know that is a blasphemous statement around here. :)

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Absolutely gorgeous Kell. Congrats to you and Monika!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Melissa. That is OK. Pink is not actually the only color in my yard. I actually love the color most of whatever plant is blooming the best for me at that minute.

I am into more complicated blooms this summer also. I like different colors in one bloom, I like a most entertaining bloom. Like the fancy hibiscus. I have so many kinds blooming for me all summer. I am in love.

Thanks Melissa and thanks Deb. The trouble I have with her is she is so thick with her inner flower, I can destroy the looks of the bloom when I try to pollinate it. Then I have to decide, do I really need so many seeds at the expense of enjoying the flowers? I think I am going to cut way down this next year growing out seedlings. I have so many more competing plant interests going on now.
