So I need yall to go back and look to see who
WON

and let me know who the winner is..............

Wow isn't this fun.................

I was so afraid the storm had taken it
the other night cause I knew it was getting
CLOSE

Well I ran out and checked it first thing and
it survived............wheeww

So this morning July 12th, at...........
oh and did I mention that
I only got 4 seed, it had 6 but one
had a worm in it and the other was
shrivled to nothing.....

But I guess 4 is better than none......

Still don't know what this awesome beauty is.

Wow Emma what beauties this morning...............So So pretty. I am still cleaning up from the storm. Or rather my Hubby is so I don't have anything to show right now.
I do have up and coming just beginning to vine:

Akatsuki no Tsuyu
Kikyozaki
Suigetsu
No Beni
Ukigumo
Akatsuki no Kongo 2

The no Beni is the second planting, I don't know why the bugs liked it so much when it came up the first time. I had 6 seed up and one was eaten every day or so until there were none...........
I really like that one and hope I get more seed of it I used up all I had left of it.....
But I think Pam has a zip lock bag full.............LOL......That seed horder...........LOL

Beautiful, Sylvia....
What is it about the Rose Silks and Chocolate Silks that is so stunning! Still one of my all-time favorites

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

You are so right Emma the "Rose Silks" and "Chocolate Silks" are just the best and they are my favorites as well. I am going to try and cross mine with more as soon as I can. I have some done already and will try and do more.
These are from Last Year..........I didn't plant any this year. Sure wished I had now.
I like these they are a mutation and much lighter than the Chocolates. Emma didn't you have some of these or did I at least send you some seed?

Dee, I'm pretty positive that these were included in one of your Chocolate Silk/Rose Silk MIXES.
And, I didn't get to plant them this year either.
I just LOVE that RS Cross.
So unusual and beautiful.
I WILL BE SURE, however, because. . .
I have them on the top of the list to plant next year.
I had already planted a gob of my RS seeds that are just blooming their little hearts out, so didn't want to plant more this year.

ATTENTION . . . . . EVERYONE . . . . .
QUESTION!

Why is it that on the Vines and Climbers Forum it is almost ALWAYS Passiflorias
????????????????????????
Why doesn't Daves either have a 'special' Forum for
Passiflorias
OR BETTER YET
Ipomoeas
????????????????????????

What is everyone's input on this
????????????????????????

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

I think it depends on the season, right now the passies are in full force and everyone is showing them off.
We have kinda condensed our Morning Glories to this thread or we would have the same thing and it would be sooo hard to keep up with. That is how it use to be done and everyone just posted there own photos. I missed so many photos and discussions just because I couldn't get around to all them in a day.
Last year I started the thread and invited all to post their photos and discuss their Flowers and some how it caught on. I think we are better for it since we get the information at one place and really don't miss anything.
I like it that way and I hope it will continue.
Hope this helps, but I am sure open to anything that would be better.
Anyway that is my Opinion.

I think it's best this way too. I only post on the forum when I have a question that maybe anyone could answer or that I want answered pretty quick.

So, Emma...whatcha got against passifloras? Hmmmm??? *hehehe* Actually, I'd have more of them if I hadn't lost 3 when I moved up here. I love foofy, frilly, ruffledy, eye-candy flowers! One day, I too shall have a collection to be spoken about...*sigh*

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

I have a 'thing' against Passiflorias because I had the bad luck of getting not one, but TWO different vines that take over your yard 'uninvited.
They all got ripped out and planted in the alley.....hee hee
STILL getting shoots up where they were growing.
I love them, but not 'THOSE'.....aarrrrggggg

Shepherd, TX(Zone 8b)

Oh, hey, throw those throw-aways my way! Which ones did you have? They spread by the roots, obviously, and with just a section of bare root, with no buds, you can start another plant. I know this because I 'experimented', and every last one of them sprouted.

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

I have no idea what one was, but the other was pretty obviously 'Maypop'. I'll have to look up the correct name.
If you want them LMK and I'll dig up and pot them up for you and send them on when I see how they will do first.

I'll even go see if the Mother plant is still alive
probably is, and you can have that one too.

Shepherd, TX(Zone 8b)

I don't need the Maypop...I have some that I dug up about two months ago and planted it. It just bloomed today.

Speaking of blooms, here's a few of my outstanding blooms from this morning...

I FINALLY caught the satin in the pink one!

QueenB that satin in the pink is awesome. it looks like that pearly pink puffy paint lol.
Emma, might you add some of your passflora roots to the multitude of other things i want from your garden? ;)

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

OMG Stacey,
All threee are all exquisitely beautiful.
Oh, PALEEZE put me down for a few seeds of each.
I think I've already begged for that awesome Pink Satin.
What a delight that one is.

This is the MG that I decided to name after my Mom who recently died.
"Nettie Mae"
One of my Crosses from this year and I still don't have a clue where this seed came from.
It is a 'Dusty Pink' with Star and also all of the blooms have Streaks in them.

this is the second bloom from this vine i grew from seed from a baggie of "mixed blues" i got from a dear friend. It looks like a pupurea cultivar but i could be way off. also, i have no idea what the hole is from, my MGs are almost always nearly pest-free, although the pumpkin flowers that have been opening are drawing a lot more bugs than i'm used to, i guess.

Forgot to give the name of the MG that I named after my mom....

naien,
Your MG is a beauty.
Definitely I. purpurea.
Can't see the leaves, but they should be Heart Shaped.

PS: I haven't forgotten you. On my way out the door to Houston and will write you when I get back, which should be tomorrow.
Emma

Emma,

May your Mother's name be for a blessing. Indeed, it is a lovely flower you have for her.

Thanks Joseph

"nettie mae" is a perfect name for such a delicate looking flower. it looks somewhat like a astrology chart between the star and the white splotches.

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Emma a flower deseriving of that wonderful name. It is just beautiful and I am sure you Mother would be pleased.....
Thanks so much for sharing it with us.............

Love the Pink Satin and Toukan. Where did you find the Toukan mg?

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Didn't have any new ones blooming today, except a white one in pot of Mixed Giants. It was full of bug holes, so wasn't worth taking a picture. Here's another pic of my Blue SunSmiles dwarf.

Emma,

"Nettie Mae" is lovely!!!

Shepherd, TX(Zone 8b)

I got the 'Toukan' from an order from Japan. I got several others, but have only grown a select few.

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you all for such lovely compliments about 'Nettie Mae'....
This really is a Stunning JMG.

Here is the JMG that I've posted a couple of times that I need 2ID -
wanted to post this one because it is such a HUMONGOUS bloom that measured slightly over 6".
The Blooms are a VERY Velvety Deep Purple Color with Plum Throat and Star.

Emma, they are all beautiful, but that huge dark purple one is gorgeous.

Shepherd, TX(Zone 8b)

I have a seed packet with your big purple one, Emma. It's called 'Shuin' (Purple Cloud).

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Stacey,
Thanks for the info. I'm not familiar with 'Shuin', only the name.

This is a seed that I planted along with a few others from my 2004 Heian No Umi [and not from a seed packet]. Thing is that some of the blooms have a 'Frost' at the tips as in many of my other crosses that are a result of my 'Plum Frost' Ume Shimo - which is why I was wondering if it was a 'Cross'. The other puzzler is that for some reason I had this particular seed labeled as 'Fujikasumi' that I planted last year. Thing is that in my JMG Seed Packet, the 'Fujikasumi' is a 'Pale Pink', and none of the JMG's that I grew last year was a 'Pale Pink'. Here is another photo taken today [That is ripped at one end] from the same vine and was blooming right next to the bloom photo posted above.

Any ideas?
Thanks for your help, or for anyone's help with an ID.
