Chico, CA

Hello... I would love to come if I have that day off work... will check my schedule at work and see. CarolynnKoi if you would like to ride with me if I can go that would be fine. I am in Chico.
Dottie

Chico, CA

Forgot to ask about the plants... do people just bring their own plants to trade with others? Dottie

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

Hi Dottie,
there is another thread started for trades
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/528644/
I think most people with pre-arrange them so they know what to bring.

Also,
I wanted to let you all know that the park will be very shady. The trees are old and established and it should be very comfortable there.

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

CarolynnKoi, why don't you get one going for your area? That would be so great if you could!!! You should be able to get a lot of folks coming, even from Oregon maybe, what do you think?
Annie

Lewiston, CA(Zone 7b)

CarolynnKoi, maybe we ought to do a North State round up? I'm way up by Redding.

N., CA(Zone 9a)

I would be totally game for a northern northern California Round Up!! Redding would be great (after it cools down, please!). I have been wanting to see the Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay and the new botanical gardens.

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

I'll come to that one also! So, who will start the thread in ROUNDUP?
Annie

Fremont, CA(Zone 9a)

I agree, Turtle Bay is a great destination, but let's get the temps to below 100° or maybe even into the 70's.
Dunsmuir also has a botanical garden, but is a bit more remote.

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

Ya, sounds fantastic, waiting here for someone to take the lead, will it be YOU?????
Annie

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

ill go up north as well:)

Lordsburg, NM(Zone 7b)

Too far ahead for more than a definite maybe but I would love to meet some DG people. New to state so my tiny yard just barely has grass much less any thing else for trade material. So will just bring me if I can.
Fred

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

Of course, it's just a big excuse for a get together, so bring yourself! Sure there will be stuff there for you if you'd like, people bring extras!
Annie

Merced, CA(Zone 9a)

Fred, take a look at my list for anything you might like. Phooey on trading, if you can use some of my plants (look at the trees, I HAVE to find a home for these!!) you are more than welcome to them! OR, you could drive a bit south one day and pick them up, lol!!

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

Plants one brings do not have to be person specific! If you think others might like something, bring it, you'll be surprised, Ladyanne, right, does not have to be a trade per say, We enjoy sharing!
Annie

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

Absolutely! It is great fun to set up trades, but it is also a wonderful opportunity to share extras.

I was typing this & my mom called me. She wanted to tell me that she is going to send a bunch of her trees (3-4ft) to the RU in case anyone wants them. So if any or all of these appeal to anyone, bring a truck because they are yours for the taking.
Here is what she told me so far:
Palm (Tall variety planted by the birds from a neighboring tree)
Sugar Maple
Euclyptus
Pecan
Mimosa
Chinaberry

And she asked if she could clear out all the houseplants in the greenhouse too. LOL

So as you can see, there will be plenty of things to take home, regardless of what you bring.

N., CA(Zone 9a)

Donna, could you please save the euclalyptus tree for me?? I have wanted one forever. Thank you - and Mom - so much!

Merced, CA(Zone 9a)

Oh no, Rachel, can you use two Eucalyptus? Three??? ROFL!! Donna, how many do you have? Where can we get these homes?? Soon??

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

hey guys dont forget about the plant trade thread

http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/528644/

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

I did make mention of it there also!
Annie

Lordsburg, NM(Zone 7b)

Thanks Ladyanne. I will be in my pickup but my front yard is about twice the size of the bed of the truck. My side yard is waste space for plants (two rottweilers are not kind to plants.) My postage stamp sized back yard is, I think, going to be great for an herb garden - hot dusty and cramped. Non-the-less, there will be a graden if I have to get into bonsai. (Humm, I may start bonsaing with the dogs.)

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

Here is the dog run side yard. That lone patch of green is the airconditioner drip.

Here is the truly tiny back yard.

And finaly the dust bowl future herb garden off the back yard. Everything looks like a mess at the moment only because it is. Three little roses out front that I put in this spring, The pots out front are miniature citrus with nastertiums (quick color). Some pots across the driveway(out of the picture) with bouganvilla on the fence in a vain attempt to hide my borther-in-law's old pickup graveyard. Unfortunately I was unable to salvage any thing from my beautiful yard in Houston. So starting over from scratch. Exciting but daunting also.

How cozy! I am having visions of removing the sod in your back yard and replacing it with a cottage garden with lots of stepping stones!

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

So, who else can We get to come to this great event? I've Emailed just about all in California, LOL,
Annie

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

hanna anyone can come!

fog it also looks like a great place for a little water feature!

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

I say we start pulling them in from out of state...LOL
Hopefully everyone will have such a great time this year at all the RU's, that next year they will be BEGGING to sign up! How is THAT for positive thinking? LOL

This thread is getting too long for Dial-uppers so I will keep it open for those of you that want to sign up or get details.
