Ok, with yall's help, I now know I have 2 kinds of spiders in my garden that are good guys.
Well, I just found this one this morning under the eaves over my zone 9 bed. I rarely look "up" when I am over there, but today I was looking to find where my attic insulation was blowing out of (strong winds last night)
This guy is approximately 3 1/2 to 4 inches long from front toe to back toe. He/she is quite evil looking and has fuzzy black tufts along her legs.
Anyone?

PC,
Thank you for the photo links. Thats the spider. Do you know anything else about it? does it bite, does it hurt, poisonous or?
Thanks so much!
Molly

I doubt there is any danger of being bitten unless provoked.
see here for some info: http://creatures.ifas.ufl.edu/misc/golden_silk_spider.htm
PC, Thank you for that. There is not much chance of me provoking this one so I shall rest easy.
No doubt this is a female. This year I have been discovering more and different kinds of garden critters.
So much fun!!!!
