My old green boonie hat got snagged by a tree branch as I was mowing with the tractor...so it flipped off my head and back underneath the mower attachment. It was shredded before I could kill the mower deck :( Oh well. Out with the old, in with the new. I ordered a new Vietnam War era US Army 'tiger stripe' boonie hat to replace it. Just came in today :)
What are you wearing for sun protection (on your head)?
You'll blend right in with all the vegatation and nobody will ever find you.
i have a big straw hat that i bought last time i was in ocean city maryland.
I went the straw hat once, but this hat seems to suit me better :)
I am wearing a head full of blonde curls that I wish I would not cut too short to put up, this time of year. LOL
I MUST keep my hair short in the summer or I'll COOK! And I sweat so much it stays wet all the time. I wear a sweatband and a straw hat... and sunscreen.
Gail
My dermatologist wishes I'd wear a hat with a big brim but all I can seem to manage is a ball cap with a bill... the soft kind, not the stand-up kind whatever those are called. Then once I've worn it an hour or more, I have "hat hair" so it has to stay on all day or until I shower.
I'm on my third or fourth one... the washing machine takes a heavy toll on them.
Washing does that for sure.

I wear different caps, hats etc but I'm lucky also.
My DW person what's her face makes denim clothing from dusters, purses, hats, etc; stuff!
All her stuff is made from 14 once denim
Sunscreen is a must for me too.

I go with zinc oxide (the clear kind), a ponytail, and a baseball cap most of the time. The trick for me isn't getting me to wear my hat, but to remember to use gloves.
Hair
im with darius-a soft ball-cap all day long till shower time. not a pretty sight. i think my ups man thinks im a man-i dont think he's ever seen me in anything but wellies (for the fire ants), ball cap, and a shovel in my hand.
hair here too!
Baseball cap, light color to reflect the heat, and dark if possible under the bill to help with the sun glare in my eyes which can give me a headache. Edited to change light under the bill to dark, what was I thinking?

Long hair. I haven't cut it in years and years.
I occasionally clip a sheet of Bounce to the top of my head with a barrette to ward off the mosquitoes.
my hair in ponytail and baseball cap together!
ZUZU how long is your hair?
I don't wear none of hat never like to wear so I don't stay sun too long just back and forth to sun and shade.
Redrose, it's not down to the floor or anything that dramatic, but it does almost reach my waist. It's funny how styles and customs change. When I was growing up, women didn't have long hair (unless they wore it up in a bun or in braids) after they turned 30. That was the cutoff point, literally and figuratively. After all of the beatnik and hippy influences in fashion, however, people didn't pay attention to that anymore, and now I'm past 60 and still wear my hair hanging down. I do put it up for weddings, though.
I'd love to have long hair, which I have had off and on since I was 30. I love to wear it up in a french twist. However after age 50 the front top and sides don't grow so there's always scraggly hairs not long enough to pull back.
So it's short hair for me. Easy to care for.
I think short hair would be a pain to take care of, because you have to keep cutting it. Now that the days of rollers and bobby pins are over, I don't even have to trim split ends anymore. I remember my college dorm in the 60's, when all of us had long hair and rolled it up at night on Campbell's soup cans because we couldn't find any rollers that were big enough. My Canadian boyfriend said I looked like the Montreal TV tower. I don't know how we ever got any sleep with those cans on our heads. Youth was fun, but life is so much simpler now.
I wear a japanese style wide brim straw hat with a string you can pull snug under your chin to keep it from blowing off...
If I were a guy, I'd have one like yours. My hubby wears one very similar to that, only it is solid olive, and has mesh "windows" made into the hat to let heat out...
Zuzu-
I'm with you on the hair...I'm past 30(by 8 years) and have had waist long hair since first grade. Once, when I was a teenager, my mother told me she was going to treat me to a hair stylist. She always complained I didn't brush my hair enough, and I had no idea what she REALLY wanted to do, lol...I just was suckered in and thought she was being nice, lol...
The woman was just a friend of hers, and wasn't a professional. She chopped it all off and gave me a poodle perm. (Permed hair was popular at the time)...The perm was so strong, it burned my hair and big pieces would break off every time I brushed my "brillo pad" hair-do...I cried a lot that year...lol
I swore I'd never cut it, again, (once it finally and painstakingly grew back), and haven't. I wear it up during the summer, but down during the other months. I've seen a lot of women who have aged gracefully and can really pull off wearing their long hair down. If you "keep" yourself, I think you can, and should pull it off...but, I have noticed a few others that don't, and their long hair just looks unkept and scraggly...lol...
The cambell's cans bring back memories! My mother wore the orange juice cans and bobby pins. She also ironed her hair with an iron!
