How much do babysitters earn?

I did daycare for a few years in my home so I could be home with my two young daughters. I charged $1.50 per hour. Even then (15 yrs ago) I felt it was plenty. I find it appalling that sitters expect so much $$. Three years ago when my hubby was downsized after 23 years with the company he was with, he was making $8/hr working 3rd shift loading 1200 boxes a night onto UPS semi's. I don't know how teenage sitters can expect more than a few dollars an hour when you take into consideration the wages that some adult folks have to work for to try and pay the bills. Sorry, just my three cents worth! Not meaning to criticize anyone here, more power to you if you can afford to pay that, but it makes it awful difficult for some folks to even go out for a night if sitters expect that kind of moola.

Two Bucks a Hr is plenty Sandy? Sheesh that might cover the kids gas to the parents home if he works a 5 hr shift.
