Just got another reminder this morning, when I saw a beautiful new daylily bloom from a trade last year--the Sharpie marking pen did not make it through the winter-have a blank white marker--now the thumbing back through notes-hoping that I listed the names somewhere. Now, I have a waterproof marker and will re-do any that are still faintly visable.
garden markers
Marcia, what brand of marker do you use now? I need to find one that doesn't bleach out in full sun. I've been using Sharpies, and the ink is only readable for a few weeks. No rain, just intense sun and heat.
using outdoor paint is what I use on my markers.
Pencil is the only thing I use on pieces of blind slats. They will not fade in the sun nor will water wash off the pencil, works everytime.
Pencil it will be then...from now on..thank you so much for that tip. My markers have also faded and many things are now un-labeled
I am using IDenti-pen by Sakura, from my craft store. This is the first season, so I may figure out a back-up, but so far, is holing up well. Pencil did not stay on the plastic markers , so I will be hitting garage sales for some of the blinds. I also tried ink on popsickle sticks, covered by clear nail polish---I have to check those out and see how they stand up this season. If I have to ,I will do a map-lol--I have things stuffed all over from up-rooting the garden from the flood last year and getting unknowns in trades, to say nothing about the fellow's cross breeding his daylilies and giving me some( I lost the cross bred plant information. WI is tough on markers.
MarciaG...How many blinds do you need? I have several here and will be more than happy to send them. You were so kind to help me out with my memorial garden, this is the least I can do. Just let me know what size to cut them.
Carol
Marcia,
I found that if you do two markers for each plant, then bury one by the plant, the permanent marker won't fade on the buried one. So even if the other one fades, you'll still know what the plant is. It's worked for me so far.
Pam
