Need Help

Pictou County, NS

Hello this is a great place for gardeners.I have Hops growing and I want an arbour for them to climb on.They grow so fast I thought they would be nice on an arch way leading to another part of the garden.Problem is making the arch way ,I have access to a lot of saplings and bushes so I thought maybe it could be made from that.Does any one know how to do that or know of any sites I could go to???
Thanks so much for any help.

Mary, you could try the library for books on making wicker arbours. Here also are two sites: www/daisymoore.com/garden3html (scroll down and see her wicker arbour - no instructions to make it but it looks easy) or www/wickerworks.on.ca (canadian site - has instructions to make a wicker arbour)
Hope this helps

I tried to find the website, gd, and couldn't, but after doing a search, here is the correct URL:
http://www.daisymoore.com/garden3.html
She's got some cool stuff on there.

aroda99.... I have made several arbors for my garden, one of which is made from tree branches. I started by using heavy twine to tie the branches, but soon turned to artificial sinew (available in craft stores, esp. ones that have leather supplies). The sinew holds fast without slipping, withstands the winter weather and summer sun, and looks more natural than wire or string. Good Luck!
