This probably won't surprise anyone, because we all know that DG people are the salt of the earth, but after I related my bus woes and tried to beg a ride with anyone coming from my county, I received some really nice offers of accommodations by e-mail. Wonderful people, who know nothing about me, offered to put me up in their homes if I could take the bus on Friday instead of Saturday. I'm really touched and extremely grateful.

The problem, unfortunately, is that the buses here are set up for commuters, so I'd have to leave here at 6:00 in the morning on Friday and come back at 6:00 in the evening on Monday, and I can't neglect my job or my cats for that long. Besides, I was hoping to get rid of a few bushel baskets of iris and canna, and I don't want to turn our snooty commuter vehicle into a Tijuana bus, with all of the yuppies wondering where I'm hiding the basket of live chickens. LOL.

So, I'm reiterating my initial plea: I will pay for the gas and the bridge toll if someone can pick me up on the way to the roundup (and bring me back home, of course).

Hi Hanna, sounds good to me. Put me and DW on the list. Thanks for the email PotEmUp. I have been so busy that I haven't been keeping up with the Dave's for a few months. Hopefully I will still have a nice selection of tomatoes to bring along for tasting. I will be coming from Manteca and I will have room for 2 or 3 more people if anyone needs a ride from this area.

Hanna...you and your helpers are doing a great job....Zuzu...about 4 years ago I went on a great trip to Maine...from TN....with Calalily and Carol7...No, I had never met them but was scheduled to at our very first RU held in TN...to shorten the story we were on the road 10 days...and only stayed in a motel 3 nights...so ask me about the hospitality of DG'ers!! Jo

That's right, and guess where Roadrunner will be spending time???? I will pick her up at the Airport, and she'll stay with me, only if she gives me a lesson on how to make her CHEESECAKE!!!! Guess I'll have to bring chocolate again for her, LOL LOL,

Annie...the thread lenght is fine on DSL....I saw your post on the Central Valley round-up and it said that the Castro Valley RU was 9/17...has it been changed from the 24th or is this an error???

Saturday's a no go for me. I've got farmers' markets every saturday, which is always the biggest market of the week. I'd love to come to a RU, but it'd have to be any day other then friday or saturday. If it turns into a 2 day event, I could show up on sunday.

While I could bring a LOT of chocolates on the plane...and since I am going to head on to Nashville from the RU...I think I will pass on the plant...since I won't be back home until about the middle of October!!
