My favorite view of the middle garden area. This is my view from the lower patio.

Marc,

I see why that is your favorite. What a beautiful yard. How long did it take you to get it looking that good?

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

We baught the house 12 yeasr ago.....I started one design then.....this is design #4. LOL
It seems I'm never satisfied. :-)
Glad you liked the pic.....thanks for the compliment.

Marc,
You have beautiful AND NEAT garden. What is on the right side with yellow flowers?
Kaleem

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Marc,
Your garden looks beautiful. I hope in 12 years mine will look as good.
I like how you did the rock pathways thru it all.
Carol

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Couldn't tell you what the yellow is Kaleem....I lost the tag soon after planting those. They are a wonderful perennial but do get a bit floppy in late season.
Glad you liked the garden pic. :-)

Marc

Ocean Springs, MS(Zone 8b)

Marc, it is just beautiful.

Coshocton, OH(Zone 6a)

beautiful view! did wild horses make it? belinda

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Belinda, 'wild horses' did indeed make it.....I've gotten three blooms off of the one scape, and managed to miss the bloom on two of them....the third and last one should bloom either today or tomorrow and I just refuse to miss it. LOL
Glad you all liked the garden view :-)

Lewisburg, KY(Zone 6a)

Just a beautiful setting. All your hard work is paying off big time.

More pics please, I need inspiration.

You mentioned Wild Horses, can we see that garden?

Austell, GA(Zone 7a)

Looks great Marc. You've put a lot of work in it and it shows!!
If only my DH would do more than mow the grass.

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Here is a collage of the front garden...where 'Wild Horses' is located......is hard to see but it is near center of the collage by the large 'sum and substance' hosta.

Outstanding! Maybe you need to quit being so hoggy and send those wild horses somewhere else!
:) Donna

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Glad you liked the pix Donna.....I think however for now at least I will continue to be 'hoggish' :-)

Marc

Spokane Valley, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh, Marc, your garden spaces are dreamy! So vibrant and varied, manicured without being pretentious, and oh so inviting to walk through and touch... even through the screen of my monitor. :)

Did I spot an Ostrich Fern with some variegated vinca major beneath it in your 3:53 p.m. collage? We have of each, and love watching the fern unfurl in the springtime!

Thank you for sharing the beauty you enjoy each day.
TF Donna

P.S. Did you realize someone laid a brick in your birdbath? *giggles and ducks*

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Tutti, I'm so glad you liked the pix. :-) The gardens do bring me a great deal of joy and peace...but I'd say that's true for each of us here on DG or we wouldn;t be gardeners.
Yes that is ostrich fern and vinca 'minor'....good eye. :-)
Oh and yes there is a brick in my bird bath....gives the birdies somewhere to land. The bath is deeper than some and the birds didn;t use it until I added the brick :-)

Marc

Spokane Valley, WA(Zone 5b)

Ahhh... while I was teasing you ever so slightly about the brick (wicked play on words), I discovered that as well when I set up a conical shaped container as a birdbath last year. Of course I filled the cone with rocks, but it was only after I'd added some large/flat stones along half of the actual bathing area that *ALL* of the birdies would enjoy -- wrens and finches in the shallow area, robins in the deeper one. All could easily drink, as well.

And I just couldn't help but notice your use of Washington natives alongst with the other lovelies. :)

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Very nice Marc.

Why not try to take a shot from the neighbour's rooftop [seen in the background in the first pic]? You'll get a wonderful view from there!

Dinu

Stanford, CA(Zone 9b)

It is so fun to see your garden marc.. I see your name everywhere - and now there's a garden to go with it. What a lovely place you've created.

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Thanks Doss :-)

Marc
How you combine these photos in one photo?
Kaleem

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

I use a photo editing program called Kai's Soap2....very easy to use program for making collage groupings like I do. :-)

Marc

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Marc isn't the program you use only for Mac computers?
:) Donna

Mirpur (A.K), Pakistan(Zone 9b)

LOL........................
kaleem

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Nope....don't have a MAC :-)

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Great garden Marc. Don't I remember a shot you posted some time ago of the backyard that showed it sloping down with mostly lawn? If so this sure has been an enormous amount of work. The deck construction is very nice too. Thanks for sharing.

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Thanks balvenie :-) The area diud indeed use to be a sloped area of lawn. I finally found all of my before pictures, and am working on a collage of before and after pictures.
I'll post a new thread once assembled. :-)
My back always starts hurting everytime I look at those pictures......uuuuggggghhhhh LOL

Lewisburg, KY(Zone 6a)

Your garden is so pretty! I really must divide my plants. Oh... but that means so much work. I am planning a new area now. It is so hot and humid here during July and August. I noticed the watering can. I collect vintage ones.
Teresa

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Glad you liked then pix Teresa. :-) The watering can was a $.25 cent garage sale find...leaks badly, but looks cute in the landscape

Mirpur (A.K), Pakistan(Zone 9b)

I can see in one of your photo... fern with blue flower. May I know the name of the Fern? Is that MG flower?
Kaleem

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

:-) kaleem that is a glass flower I fill with bird seed for the smaller birds that visit the front garden......I just stuck it in the fern for effect. :-)

Marc

Northwest, MO(Zone 5a)

Marc...luv your garden...and all the variety. Continue to share your pics.

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Thanks Deb :-)
I'll post a pic of the before here shortly.....can't find the before before pix, but did find a few from my earliest beginnings.

Marc

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Here is a collage of pix I ran across from a very early point in the 'Before' life of the garden.
These show about 3 months of work.....I had made my first stab at terracing the gentle sloping backyard.
