Right now I have 2 seedlings to a 1 gallon pot with a topsoil ,
mulch ( 1 year old composted wood chips ) and humas mix.
I have the pots outside and when it rains they drain for a short time
then just fill up with water and stop draining. yesterday one pot had
2 inches of rain water on top of the soil.
suggestions on what to add to my soil to help with some drainage ?
Soil Mix for a Texas Star Hibiscus
I like mixing mulch right in with the soil. But, if water is sitting in the pot, it either means that the soil is too compacted or there's not enough drainage holes. Probably the later. More holes are better than less.
its got like 4 1 inch holes in the bottom of the pot.
im gunna try mixing up some new soil.
topsoil, potting soil, mulch, and perlite.
