DG server performance - report your findings here!

(Zone 7a)

everything's moving briskly along here - no moss on this 'puter :)

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Still no banner on any of the DG system...just a white blank spot where it should be. No dreaded red x or anything...just blank.

Since I'm the only one reporting this, it must be within my system. I've rebooted and refreshed, run my AdAware and visited other places on the web that might have the same problem...nothing, nada...Just the DG banner is gone.

The site is moving along nicely, pics are loading quickly and I can't find anything else with a problem.
As I'm e-challenged....this is the only stuff I know to do.

edited to say that the 'home' link works when I click on the empty space where the logo should be...just no image.

melody, do you see the tabs?

Can you see this? http://pics.davesgarden.com//images/header/ph_header.jpg

I see the tabs and they all work...I've clicked on them and they take me just where I'm supposed to be...the link does not work...it says site not found.

edited to say I'm headed out the door for awhile...will check back around lunch.

Well Mel, I'm downright flummoxed. Let's give it a few days and see if clears up, I guess.

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

No biggie....as long as I'm the only one reporting it.....I've been around here long enough to do without a banner for a few days...

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I can't post pictures........keeps telling me "document contains no data."

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

ok, I clicked on the link again...the window popped up that says the file/header /pictures cannot be found, but it also says it is transferring data down at the bottom of my screen...the computer boxes on my right bottom toolbar are not lit up like something is being transferred though.

If I can figure out how to do it, I'm going to go into 'safe mode' and run a detailed virus scan when I head back to work. Maybe I've picked up a little gremlin somewhere that isn't showing up with the normal scans.

I haven't tried to post an image since this happened...will go and do so and report back.

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Loaded an image over in Roses with no problems...even on dial up it too less than 2 minutes to send.
The dimensions were huge too...1536 x1024. I wanted to work it over good to make sure there were no glitches there, as I usually send large files to the PF.

Just the banner is the only thing missing...and I know where 'home' is....no need for a sign to point my way here!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I still can't post an image. :(

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

After a morning of trying with no luck I was finally able to load three but it was a drawn out affair (I'm on high speed).

Lilypon, it's a mystery why you have been affected, but I'm glad to hear that it least it worked now (albeit slowly).

If anything changes again, please report.

Here is one I've never had happen before. I have been watching the secret plant trade. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/512673/

When Carmen posted the link to the new trade thread, it took me to make a new post.... http://davesgarden.com/forums/pf.php

Someone else posted the link in the original plant trading thread, but it looks like it's on a different server.
I wouldn't have noticed if it hadn't asked me to log in.

I don't know if this is something that you needed to know about, or if it's supposed to be like that, so thought I'd mention it just in case.

That's okay. No problem there.

It's baaaack!

I ran a virus scan in safe mode...no bugs found...(good to know)

Thought about looking at IE and the logo was there, I closed out and opened Firefox and it was there too...go figure...

Mel, Mystery fixed but Unsolved, eh?

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Yep...no clue.... but happy to have my DG logo back!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Whoooops! Just had a major glitch but it may NOT be DG. I clicked on a "watched" thread" to read the reply and the web page downloaded as a browser file! Same with the next thread. I guess I downloaded those two threads 3-4 times each, trying to open the threads.

Finally shut down for 2-3 minutes, re-booted and all seems fine now. BTW, I was in Firefox and they downloaded as Safari browser files. (Safari is my default browser although I seldom use it anymore.)

More buglets? Or just larvae?

N., CA(Zone 9a)

Wow!! I love being on DG again! After last week's problems, I was ready to give up. Thanks for the new hardware!

Well, my speed is great, but I can't add plants to PlantFiles....or maybe I don't remember that there is a lag time between entry and being able to access it to add details?

Edited to confirm that today the plant I was trying to add was not added. I have tried both Firefox and IE and when I hit the submit button on the entry screen, the screen flashes but otherwise doesn't change.

Edited yet again to report all is well. I added a plant today, loaded several pictures both in PF and in threads and all appears to be working great. Thank you Dave!

Dave:
There for a few days the speed was blowing me away. But today it seems somewhat slow. It is taking a while to load the pages and to go from one forum to another. Right now I am really having trouble get around could I be in the peak hours right now?

Linda

I noticed over the weekend an improvement in speed, and although I had a couple of "the document contains no data", a second preview try worked OK. I also noticed that the image quality is much improved and the picture size more consistant. It is working great.

Okey, dokey here.

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Pretty quick here too.

Still flying!

don't know if this is related...the 'back arrow' on my browser works about 1 time in10 lately. I've rebooted and it doesn't help. Even the little drop down arrow beside the one that only takes you back one page isn't working.

Well, I just checked and everything works right now.

It says the website davesgarden not found when it's broken.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Something funny -- everybody seems to be posting in incomplete sentences on some of the forums, like the coleus forum.

That's a temporary thing, caused by me. I'll try to stop soon.

dave

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Wow... Was it only me, or was the site down all weekend?? I couldn't see any posts after June 5th. I tried rebooting and clearing out cookies and all sorts of things. Whatever it was, I'm SO glad it is back! I was going through major withdrawl!!!

I was on it a bunch intermittently over the weekend.
