rust colored little worm?

am i a friend or foe? i'm about 1 to 1 1/4 inches long. the first time i saw that they might be a foe was yesterday when i found one burrowing into a mini iris bulb.

This looks like some kind of wireworm to me, but I can't be sure. Maybe someone who has iris might be able to tell you more. Until then go to http:bugguide.net and look at the wireworms to see if any resemble yours. I'll check my references at work as well, and get back to you.
