We live in Louisiana, and we would like advice on growing Hydrangeas. We can't seem to keep them alive. What type of soil is the best? We don't care what color they become, just want them alive. Full sun, partial sun????? Help!!!!
Hydrangeas
You might want to post this in the Perennials forum :)
Any good garden soil with organic material will grow hydrangeas. They don't like clay or real sandy soil. Hydrangeas like to be damp all the time but not standing in water. They like dappled sunlight or morning sun (in the south). Mine grow best on the north side of my house. The trick is to never let them get dry, but keep the soil well-drained. Doesn't really make sense does it. It takes a couple of years of babying until you get them to really put on a show. Hope this helps. Jenny
