Thankfully they did leave me a couple scapes of Blackjack......so far anyway.
Lilies and Daylilies!
They're so sweet! Just like their mom. ;)
Mendy, so sorry to hear about those idiots stealing your lilies. I was just thinking of planting lilies on the front berm of my property, but now, I am having second thoughts. We have idiots here, too, who paint grafitti on one of the fence panels. Hubby will repaint it each time. We get hit at least once a year. Same kids, most likely.
Steve, I'll be fuming mad if I see someone else's pet galloping in my yard. I have 2 golden retrievers, and even they have limits!
I still have NO LILIES to post.
BTW Steve, how tall are your tallest lilies? Some look really towering in the photos. Just unbelievably gorgeous.
Thanks, Moby! :-)
Moonglow, I feel for ya with the grafitti. The man across the street from me (he's about 85 years old) got hit with grafitti on his fence a couple of years ago. His fence isn't painted and he didn't have it painted over. His SIL tried to wash it off the best he could, but you can still see it. Luckily it's on the side of his house in the alley way. He figured they would just do it again if it all came off anyway. I definately wouldn't put your lilies in your front yard. I'm moving mine this fall.
Steve, my dog has limits too.....I can't imagine her running free in my yard! She has tried to eat my daylilies when I've gotten boxes of them in the mail....can't imagine I'd have anything left if she was free to roam my flowerbeds.
Mendy
Beautiful Blackjacks, Mendy - looks like yours did really well this year!! Wellll--since the neighbor and I had it out, the dog has not been loose in the front yard - so apparently she got the message!
Well Moonglow - you'll be posting lily pics long after most of us (me for sure) are done!! My tallest? I have some trumpets just over 6 feet. Most are between 3 and 5 feet. Thank you for the kind words :-))
Check out these gold band Pookies (or Quo Vidas?) They look great this year - last year my Quo Vidases got burnt - but I planted Pookies this year (last fall) and they show no sign of heat stress
I can tell by the anthers that the blooms are not new, but they still look fresh as can be. Pookies are great orientals.
Wow Moby I guess you're right! I had my sprinklers totally redone in the back yard and they dug it all up and it is a muddy mess - so I guess I just noticed them today, since I haven't been out there much the past couple of days. Yeah they've done well for every day being in the 90's.
YOUR yard is a mess? Say it ain't so! ;)
Wonderful garden Steve
