Midwestern lilies: let the show begin!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

That's just what I thought. And it's a perfect two-tone star.

What was I thinking? I almost forgot Blackjack. (Or is that Black Jack?) This is growing in light shade so the color is not as intense as it could be.

Moby, did your Black Jack bud look yellow before it opened? I have bud on mine and they seem too yellow to be BJ. Love yours!

The ripe bud did look like it was going to be an orange lily.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

That's a relief. I was going to cry if it was a yellow or orange one instead of Black Jack!

Here's a little yellow one I got in a mixture of the brushmark ones. Last year the rabbit ate all the leaves off the whole row of them and they were just bare sticks the rest of the summer. I thought they might not come back this year, but most of them are. Some are really tiny. Like 12" tall, but all have buds on them. No rabbits so far this year. Guess the 4 cats that all play in my yard are doing a good job of pest control.

'New Wave' is a really pretty lily, I like that bright color and spots combination.

I love that freckle face, Sue.

Here's one I'm always glad to see each year. Don't know it's name. May be a pixie one, it not very tall and small flowered. These come up through the leaves of a bleeding heart that are just starting to go dormant for the summer, which is why those leaves behind it don't look like asiatic leaves.

Beautiful lilies, KD. I especially like the Rosario.

Yours looks very similar to Kiss Me Kate, Tazzy. After my first two blooms opened with 5 petals, the rest are normal.

lilyfan, why does my Buff pixie look so different from yours?? I planted them last fall for the first time. I was expecting one that looked like yours, but got this.

OHHH great pictures everyone. I REALLY love Rosario too.

revclaus, the picture of mine might be just a bit bright I believe the color is just a bit richer than indicated by my photo. Is your lily that dark in person or is the photo a bit dark? I did check mine against the description and it matched. I do have some I'm not sure of so haven't posted them yet.

I'm thrilled...we all seem to have the same lily when it comes to Kiss Me Kate!

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

Only one here... Lollipop, other than my ole plain jane White ones that I've moved everywhere with me for 20 years... they smell heavenly even if they are just a plain girl by todays standards. :-)

My Black Jack finally opened. NOt black, but he sure is an intense color and near black at the center. Can you tell it's raining here? He looks like
Drowned Jack. LOL!

This is Royal Perfume. I just can't capture the color. It is a champagne like color with color around the edges. I realy love it!

Edited to say: I looked up Royal Perfume and this is waht it is suppose to look like:
Strong orange with a yellow throat spotted brown. Guess this one is mislabeled! I will try to find what it really is.

Edited again to say I have decided this one is Orania. As it is open a little longer it is getting an apricot tint around the edges. I think if it were warmer, it would look more like the photos of Orania.
