(Sue) South Central, IA(Zone 5a)

My first lily of 2005!

Buff Pixie: a dwarf asiatic has opened up to show me her beauty.

Wow.. I absolutely love that one.. Can I possibly convince you send me a bulblet from that lily in the fall ?? I will trade generously for it... what a great lily (super photo, too)

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

Gorgeous lily and coloration of the flower.

Mine are just emerging good with a lot of the orientals, trumpets and orien/pets not showing yet.

I really like the coloring too. Think it is going to be awhile though before anything else opens up!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Here's one ~ I think it's a 'premie'. Not too great looking and way ahead of the other buds.

Sure does make you want to see the full term version!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

LOL Yep, it sure does.

Waxhaw (Charlotte), NC(Zone 7b)

By the way.. the headline of this post is "midwestern lilies: let the show begin!"...

Does that mean than NJ gardeners can not post here ???

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Um....isn't NJ part of the Midwest?? ;)

Waxhaw (Charlotte), NC(Zone 7b)

Atleast it has stopped snowing down here !!! :)

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

What's up with this?? I always have a few of these buds that split and curl on an Asiatic I believe is Monte Negro.

I'm sure the 'Midwest' is a much larger area than its quoted geographic area!

Bring 'em on!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Moby, I'm not sure, but this article mentions deformed buds resulting from last frost damage. Could be a possiblity with your buds.

Hmm...interesting reading. I'll have to closely watch these buds and see what happens with them.

(Sue) South Central, IA(Zone 5a)

Two more lilies are open, but both of them were nipped by frost so the blooms are pretty ratty. Oh well, they are still lilies and in bloom!

Orange Pixie, cute

and...

'Good Night' an asiatic

Good night ~ see you tomorrow! (Nice lilies too.)

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Ooooo.. Good Night is a pretty one, Sue...even nipped by Jack.

Waxhaw (Charlotte), NC(Zone 7b)

Like "Good Night".. and "Orange Pixie" is very nice, too.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Lollypop is just getting a good start here. It sure seems to multiply fast for me.

Isn't it just fun when you start with a few asiatic lilies only to have several blooming the following year ?

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

My 'watched pot' finally boiled while it was unattended.

I have no idea what name is ~ take a stab at it if you care to.

I came home from the MO-RU to find that Marribelle was blooming too ~ but it's awfully orange....

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Oh dear, Moby! That's a shame about Marribelle! Is this a tall one? Not a pixie?

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

It's a 3 footer and should be a nice pink.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Now this is MUCH better!

Pink Pagoda

(Sue) South Central, IA(Zone 5a)

They are beautiful Mary! All of them, but especially Pink Pagoda.

Oh I can't wait until mine blooms. I've had 2 frosts, deer, rabbits and while I was in MO hail. I'm surprised I have any buds left!

When I went out to the gardens I found this seetie in flower.

Here is a little pink cutie that hears her own music...

Dimples is darling!

How tall is you Crimson Pixie? Sure looks like my unknown, but it's about 3 ft. tall.

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

That's why I was asking you Moby if your unknown was short. Was thinking Crimson Pixie or Orange Pixie.

Dimples is one at the old house. :-( I need to get over there tomorrow and see what's blooming.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Dimples and Pink Pagota are both great looking. Can't go wrong with the pink ones.

Susan

(Sue) South Central, IA(Zone 5a)

My Crimson Pixie has foliage at 15 inches and the flowers add another 3.

Stones opened today and I will post the picture later today

Central, KY(Zone 6b)

Oh WOW, Pink Pagoda, Dimples and Disco will have to go onto my MUST HAVE list!!!
I really like the Buff Pixie too!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Thanks Brenda and Sue. They sure look like the same flower. I wonder if the Pixies have regular size parents or are they a breed unto themselves?

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Here's a pretty one, but what's wrong with this picture?

Kiss Me Kate

Waxhaw (Charlotte), NC(Zone 7b)

what ???? two styles ???

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

LOL No, only one of those. Five petals and stamens. I wouldn't necessarily think so much of it except I have 2 blooms like that on different stalks.

Love the Crimson Pixie, Ililyfan...and Moby that last one you posted is wonderful.

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

It's a STAR!! LOL....how strange. You see polys but minus one is kinda weird.
