I have several patches of red dianthus that has bloomed it's little heart out. They are full clumps of the boldest red I have ever seen. Very "eye drawing" color. Which part of the spent flower has the seeds? I've looked and I must be seeing the wrong things. Any help?
I'd love to be able to share these and even get more started for other flower garden areas...
Where the heck are the seeds?
Between the stem and the petals there is a swelling (not a botanist, words sometimes fail me. That is, of course why I'm a poet!!) which becomes a little capsule. The seeds are in there and will probably be tiny black discs. Let the capsules dry to brown and when they start to open, pick them and dump the seeds into a little dish to dry some more.
