What is it--leafminer's? Best way to zap them? =0
Harlequin Honeysuckle variegated, but this stuff's "extra!"
Leafminers. The fly lays eggs and the larva eat between the layers of the leaf. They are hard to kill, a few things work, like Avid. The best way to control them is to cut off all damaged leaves and burn them(or tie them up in a plastic bag). Be sure to clean up good in the fall, remove all old growth so they don't have anything to overwinter in.
DRATS! Does Diazinon work?
It's a systemic isn't it? It might. See if they are listed on the label as controlled.
I try to do as natural as possible, but with leaf miners I use acephate. Also (as Calalily said), cut off all the damaged leaves and be sure to destroy them. Please don"t waste any time they can move fast and ruin a otherwise healthy plant.
I read that you can just squish them inside the leaf if there are only a few. Probably take way too long with this many though.
Oh, gross........squishing?? lol Well, I did cut off all of the affected leaves, and afraid to burn them, opted to soak them in bleach & diazinon. I think they're sufficiently dead, as the leaves are as white as toilet paper today! =)
Leafminers are so disgusting! Thanks for the help, guys!
