Well, I am so excited!!! I've been in touch with my HOA today and just sent off an "official" email tonight. I'm beginning a garden club for my subdivision!!!! How fun?! I hope :)
I wrote a little blurb for the subdivision website and newsletter. The first meeting is scheduled for July 14th. I'm so pumped! I'm hoping to meet 2x a month. The first meeting each month will be in the clubhouse and will start off with a brief "Plant Profile" of sorts, highlighting a perennial that is of interest that month. I've chosen Coreopsis verticillata 'Moonbeam' for July's meeting. I'll give a little presentation on it and then have a drawing for a pot of 3 of them. Then, I'll start of discussion on a certain, predetermined garden topic (possibly with photos or slides). July's topic is "Curb Appeal: Shaping Beds and Borders" :) Isn't this FUN????? Then I hope to wrap up with a general, open Q&A where we can all exchange info and ideas. The second meeting each month will hopefully be touring a yarden in the neighborhood that displays the previous meeting's discussion topic.
I'm going to send out personalized mailings to a few homeowners that obviously have a serious interest in gardening. Between the newsletter and website, I'm hoping there's a decent response. The oldest homes in this subdivision are only 8 years old and there are many, many new ones still in the process of being built. Lots of folks with bare yards and no clue where to go from there. Still, there are several yards that have really established nicely within 5-8 years that can "inspire" newer homeowners. I'm hoping to encourage folks to branch out just a bit. Nothing radical, but a bit more adventurous than the traditional shrub and impatiens plantings.
I'm not sure what I'm expecting anyone to reply, LOL :) I'm just very excited about it and wanted to tell you all!!! :)

My New Garden Club :)
Hugs, I hope you get a good response. I was elected vise- president in January. You know the person that doesn't do much. Well, our president called and will not be there for 3 months! I have been planning and calling speakers. I really enjoy it. We have branched over to crafts too. Painting, ect. I am trying to find someone to teach a basketweaving class.Vists to Lawn and Garden Shows, botanical gardens. Tour of each other homes.
Food and lots of fun,
Good Luck
Teresa
You two are movers and shakers! Good for you!

Good move Huga! What a great idea going into spring and summer. I hope you get a lot of response from your neighbors! With the mailers and website, you are on the right track. A lot of new homeowners will benefit from your experience and you will probably make a lot of new gardening friends! Best of luck!
Huga,
I just started a Garden Club "God's Gardens, A Little Touch of Heaven" I had my first Flower Swap a few weeks ago. Of course the day started out with rain. But I ended up having around 35 people. I had 12 sign up for the garden club and 6 signed up for a Round Robin. We're having our first meeting in June.
I met a new garden friend who has opened a nursery and is having open house this Saturday. I hope to get more members at her open house. I have wanted to do this for a couple of years and finally quit talking about it and got in gear. My garden space is a little over 4000 sq. feet. My husband built it with sidewalks around it so he doesn't have to mow inside of it. I have around 25 beds. I have gotten into Hostas the last couple of years. Have no idea the names of them, but they look wonderful :)
I liked the idea you had about featuring a plant profile at each meeting. And especially visiting other gardens. Please be sure to post more and let us know what all your doing. Good luck with your Garden Club....
Flowers are God's way of showing us just how much he loves us.... :)
Dear Jacci,
How awesome! I had no idea! With all the threads I put on my watch list I am feeling a little overwhelmed. Good luck honey, if you need any help (watching babies) let Nana know. Love, mom
How cool! Maybe you can talk to places like HD or Lowes and get stuff for door prizes? Prettiest fall display, or most improved?
