Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Yes Judy, it is wonderful. I don't know what I would do without her and at times I don't know what I am going to do with her...but we have our fun. We say that we are joined at the hip. It doesn't any better than this....we are blessed beyond measure.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

and the devilishness, LOL!

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

you stilll look like one classy lady to me....stop being so hard on yourself!!!

love that pic you posted posy!!
shelly, beautiful pic! thanks you posting!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Ahh, Jen... just wait until you are my age and wake up one day an old lady and not the 'beauty' you once were! ( I AM working on my attitude but I think grandchildren would help, LOL.)

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

darius, my friend, i can only hope that i can make it to your age, lol....

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

You will, as long as you keep positive and battling !

Verona, ON

Now Darius, I think not having grandchildren has nothing to do with attitude. We just need to express ourselves more in a more flamboyant way. Now other than our silly socks what could we possibly add to our image??? We've got attitude- we're just too polite to show it!

Here's a photo of my baby! It took me fifty years to find her but it was love at first sight! I was designing a computer system for a nationwide lady's wear company and she was my contact... (Suggestion for a topic: How did you meet your split-a-part?) That was 17 years ago... Our most memorable date was in a hot air balloon but I'll let her tell you about that.

This photo is a couple of months ago when Judy was preparing a raised bed for the bargain Iris that she found. She is so 'thrifty' (Then she can tell you about 15 roasted chicken hens that she bought for $1 each...)

The secret to a happy relationship is following the rule: On odd years (as is this year 2005) everything is my fault and on even years, the rules change...

She is my inspiration -- she was the one I telephoned when I found the secret of life! But, she won't let me tell anyone...

You guys give me hope and inspiration ~:-)!

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

The man is so silly!!! And he just tells everything. He insisted upon posting a picture of me.

The Chicken story is funny but as usual he's not too good on details, it was 21 chickens but by the time I got to our house I only had 16 left. I gave out chickens to "street people", neighbors, family, friends, we took them to work with us the next day. We had more fun.

There was a tornado coming, Kroger was having a Grand Opening and being thrifty I had to go get the specials. The rain and wind moved in they needed to get rid of the chickens they had just cooked in the big pits on the parking lot and I just happened to go to puchase one... they asked if I wanted 5 more for $2 each and I said "I don't know what I would do with them" The responded they didn't either, so buy all of them and you can have them for $1 each. I said "SOLD".

We have fun no matter what we do.

Gotta love him, but you don't want to hear "the secret of life according to Bob", typical male viewpoint trust me. lol lol

Hey, Judy, your photo looks just like I remember you from the KYRU last year...

And I think the odd-even years' agreements sounds like a good plan to me!

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Now MSJen....wha da ya mean "to make it to your age", meaning darius.....?????? Trust me, it's around the corner for you........LOL Also, those cud be almost fighten' words for sensitive folks... LOLOLOL

I can almost feel myself losing weight....by forwarding this to you!

I've seen two shows lately that went on and on about how mid-life is a great
time for women. Just last week Oprah had a whole show on how great
menopause will be....

Puhleeeeeeeze!

I've had a few thoughts of my own and would like to share them with you.
Whether you are pushing 40, 50, 60 (or maybe even just pushing your luck)
you'll probably relate.

Mid-life is when the growth of hair on our legs slows down. This gives us
plenty of time to care for our newly acquired mustache.

In mid-life women no longer have upper arms, we have wingspans. We are no
longer women in sleeveless shirts, we are flying squirrels in drag.

Mid-life is when you can stand naked in front of a mirror and you can see
your rear without turning around.

Mid-life is when you go for a mammogram and you realize that this is the
only time someone will ask you to appear topless.

Mid-life is when you want to grab every firm young lovely in a tube top and
scream, "Listen honey, even the Roman empire fell and those will too."

Mid-life brings wisdom to know that life throws us curves and we're sitting
on our biggest ones.

Mid-life is when you look at your-know-it-all, beeper-wearing teenager and
think: "For this I have stretch marks?"

In mid-life your memory starts to go. In fact the only thing we can retain
is water.

Mid-life means that your Body By Jake now includes Legs By Rand McNally --
more red and blue lines than an accurately scaled map of Wisconsin.

Mid-life means that you become more reflective...You start pondering the
"big" questions. What is life? Why am I here? How much Healthy Choice ice
cream can I eat before it's no longer a healthy choice?

But mid-life also brings with it an appreciation for what is important.

We realize that breasts sag, hips expand and chins double, but our loved
ones make the journey worthwhile. Would any of you trade the knowledge that
you have now for the body you had way back when?

Maybe our bodies simply have to expand to hold all the wisdom and love we've
acquired.

That's my philosophy and I'm sticking to it!

All I have to say is ... Boy I'm glad I don't have a teenage son!!!!! I'll be my age Thank You!!

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Uh, huh....he actually broke down in tears a bit ago because he couldnt go dirt bike riding with his friends. Just shook my head...he'll never know

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Great post, Jen!! I love it, esp. the last part...

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Ms Jen,

Ya got it all right accept the first part, the hair growth thing, not counting that on your lip, the hair grows like crazy,, legs, armpits etc. Can't keep them shaved fast enough, so when it's winter, let it grow to keep ya warm, and in summer, what the heck, wear jeans.

That's MY story and I'm "stickin to it".

Oh Judy, how lucky you are to have a man that knows what "split-a-part" means!
Pati

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

any one care to explain what a "split-a-part" means to this youngun'?

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Ya, whas it??

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

Two movies make reference to "split-a-part" -- The Dark Crystal and The Butcher's Wife-- and the original idea came from the Greek Plato: In answer to the question, "What is love?" a theory is that originally there was a self-contained being that was complete. It didn't need anyone to be happy. Then some terrible event occurs and each 'being' is split apart and the parts are separated. Love is finding and matching the 'split-a-parts'

You've heard the phrase, "He completes me." Well, Judy completes me. She's my split apart.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

After that explanation, there isnt much left to say about it, lol. That is just too cool!

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

I've been trying to get him to write a book on how to romance your woman!! lol lol

It's repotting time!!! I am sick of mega duplicates and so many pots of plants. I'm combining pots, cutting plants back and am going to try to trade some things off. I started by butchering a host of Begonias, cuttings are being rooted for trades now. That was probably the wrong place to start but oh well.

The Brugs, I'm thankful they are all in the yard and away from my other potted plants, have aphids, so I treated them with insecticide yesterday and while I was at it, treated all the plants in the flower beds near them.

I've got my shears out and my energy level is running high, if it doesn't move I'm going to dust, wash, repot or shear it.... the critters best get out of the way.
