Wanna just hang out?
Josehphine,
Can you suggest where to meet in the park? Will the picnic tables be in the shade that time of day or should we bring lawn chairs so we can find a spot of shade?
Thanks,
Linda
Thanks, Linda.
Rain date? Quite the optimist! :-)
Linda, you are really serious about this, maps and everything. I will try to research a little more.
I don't know if they have restrooms.
There are picnic tables and trees on the south side of the lake. There is the Dalworthington police and city offices off Rosevelt. If you turn into their drive and follow along the road you will find the tables by the lake. The wildflower area is on the other side of the lake, but no tables there. Josephine.
Linda, I went to check the park yesterday afternoon and didn't see any restrooms, so I called the city offices this morning and asked, and they said no restrooms, so this might be something to consider. However Veterans Park which is close by has all the amenities, but not within walking distance.
Josephine.
Hey, Everyone,
Josehpine and I just talked and we think we should have the picnic at Veterans Park since they have all of the "necessaries." We can meet at the picnic area at 5 pm, tour the gardens and then get the picnic ready about 6 pm. We think it might be easier if everyone brings his or her preferred beverages. Again, I'm going to bring a Greek salad, Josephine said she'll bring a cheese tray and if someone can bring bread/crackers and someone else fruit then we'll have all of the bases covered. Then people can pitch in whatever else their hearts desire. We should have until at least 8 pm before it starts getting dark.
I'll do some searches and post a map in a day or so. A head count would be appreciated, but we're always flexible.
Looking forward to meeting you guys,
Linda
PS Those interested in seeing Pappy Elkins might think about going by there before. It's not very far from veterans.
Wish I could join you but will have to miss.
Terrie
Maybe next time!
Yes, maybe next time. Even if I were not in Mexico on vacation on that date, I work downtown Dallas until 6:00 p.m. so couldn't make something during the week (unless it was downtown lol).
I am easy but a guy and need something easy to bring anything easy we need?
Fingers.
LOL...just because I'm not a guy doesn't mean that I cook. I will probably come empty handed (not fingerless), but won't be eating either.
Hye I am a guy and I cannot cook and I am proud of it - LOL. Finger - I will get something in those lines thanks Mitch
Sorry guys I'm going to have to miss out. My DIL's sister is having a baby and DS is taking DIL to California to see her sister over the first week or so. While thay are both away guess who is looking after their 4 and 2 year olds!! DS will be back on 8th, but working, so we will still be in charge of Miggy and Isabelle, and totally knocked out by then I should think!!
Carol
All right I figured out thanks to Frostweed what to bring (wow what a yard! you have to go see the place I am still in shock) that I will bring crackers and bread to go with cheese and such. I will also try to bring some plates.
Hey Guys, can you make it? Please, let us know, we are anxiously waiting to hear. Josephine.
Sorry, I can't make it on a weekeday, since I'm not anywhwere in the area, and I work Mon - Friday. Josephine, I'm looking forward to meeting you when you come this way in August. When I look at my garden, I think in terms of, "I want to get that done/hope that will be finished before Josephine comes."
Maggiemoo, I totally understand your not being able to come, it is a long way, and also a weekday. May be you will be able to come in September when we have the plant swap on a Sunday.
Thank you for thinking of me, I am really looking forward to meeting you also, and getting to see your garden. How are you repairs coming along?
Josephine.
Carol, I am sorry you can,t make it either, I totally understand, but again maybe in September for the plant swap, which will be on a Sunday. We will talk as we get closer, in the meantime
I hope the children keep you busy, but not too tired. Josephine.
Josephine, I'm sitting at home right now while the guys are replacing the drywall in the ceiling. I spent the weekend dismanteling my bedroom, and did too much heavy lifitng, so I went ahead and took a day of vacation to both get my back in order, and to kind of keep an eye on things. I've never had anything like this done before, just started to feel all wierd about having strangers tramp around in my house while I was away. They are all very nice, and won't let me move anything. I'll just spend time between sitting in the garden and sitting in front of this computer.
O.k. Guys, come one come all!
So far we have

John and Betty, we are so excited that you will be able to come. We will put up good directions to the park coming from the north, so you won't have trouble finding it.
Linda and I talked, and since we are metting at Veterans Park, we thought that we might tour the gardens first, and then eat, so may be five o'clcok would be better.
Everyone let us know if the earlier time is a problem, we can keep it at six if five doesn't work.
Paige, please bring your husband too, we would love to have him come.
Josephine.
Five is better here we can beat some of the traffic!
Oh Mitch, I forgot to mention that your wife works nights, but if she is off that evening, Please bring her too.
I feel bad that I didn't mention it sooner, but we would love to meet her.
Josephine.
I will see if she wants to come - thanks Mitch
John, since you are coming into Arlington you could go to Redenta's and pick up that white milkweed you were wanting. If they don't have it, they have lots of other goodies.
Where is that place, Paige? I need an address and even then I am likely to get lost in the big city. If I leave Gordonville by sunup I might find the park by 5pm. LOL
I'm going to have to go right around the corner from there before I meet up, so I'll go by there. They have Ice Ballet and White Milkmaid, both say A. incarnata for $4.99 in the little round pots that are larger than 4" pots. (never thought about what size that is)
Would you pick me up 3 of each? I o u $30 + tax, right?
Oh wow, you are serious about wanting those white milkweeds! I will do my best. Are you good for it? Do I need to get references?
I have a yellow milkweed coming up! I was totally surprised, but I do think I threw out some of those seeds. It didn't take long for it to grow if it's from one of those. Maybe I'll get lucky and have one of the pink Cinderella ones too. Still waiting for my swampmilkweed to bloom.
That yellow must be silky gold?
Yes, that's it. I forgot the name last night. Gotta go check and see if it's bloomed yet.
I need to confirm info...we are going to Veteran's Park? I have no idea where that is. I think the previous map is for the park with no restrooms.
