Nice things come from recycled wood. LOL

Hubby destructed the kids old playset and we have plans to build a new one. I had been trying to come up with an idea for something sturdy for the girls to grow gourds on and you know where it went from there. :) We had 5 4x4s laying there, although not in perfect shape, certainly sturdy enough to use. I dug holes for them and stuck them in the ground. I spent $45 on a few decking boards and two sheets of the heavy duty trellis. I have not figured out what to do to the top. I have to do something because you can see the big open 'box' from inside the house and out on the deck. I have considered putting windows in as well. The kids love it.

Here it is from the side. I am going to build a box at the bottom on the one side to grow in, and keep kids out of the plants. :) The plants on the side by the pond will go right in the ground.

Nice Michele! I would go for more latice on the top if you are planting evergreen vines and such.

For now we are going to cover them with some of the 60 gourds I started. LOL I do have 2 pieces of lattice left that I cut off along with some other lumber.

Thanks Tricia! I will. :) One year I made makeshift arbor out of cattle fencing, rolled over and attached to itself (like a huge tube) and staked it up with 2x2s. It did great. It was absolutely covered with vines and it looked gorgeous. Then my neighbors took to their midnight watering routine and the whole thing got covered with powdery mildew and turned black. Shortly after that it caved in. LOL I did get some huge birdhouse gourds off of it though. :)

As you can see, the yard here is never completely cleaned up. LOL I added boxes on each side for the plants. One side fades into the pond garden with several types of gourds next to the lattice. On the other side we have more types of gourds, bush cukes and I have to add the grape tomatoes. We are talking about hanging shower curtains (something earthy) on the front and back so the kids can use it to put on bathing suits. LOL The top is still not done. There is just scrap lattice sitting on the top.
