*grab*...Glad none of you took that last piece of Mg's cake!!

M5...I THINK I have that charger thing...at least DD was showing me "stuff" about the camera and we plugged in a charger of some kind. I know I do have to by some kind of memory thing so that when I go to the RU's and back East I'll have enough to do some pictures. It also does a wee video!!

I forgot to tell you what else I got...DD had TAPED the Oprah show with Dr. Oz on it and claimed she hadn't ....then gave me my own tape!! Ten year old DGS, Andrew, made me some yummy Chocolate cookies that he claimed was "good for you" ...I must get the recipe and post it.

Blooms, I'm with you on the cooking...except for Church pot luck dinners and family cook outs. this gal does no cooking...unless you count something like opening a jar of Classico Sp. Sauce...pour it over some Armour Meat Balls...then freeze them in servings that are just enough to put on some kind of rolls...add some Jalepeano peppers and call it a Subway!!

Betsy....if I come to your house...what night could we raid you MIL's Iris beds? I am just getting into Iris...and I LOVE them....want one of each one I see......Jo

Hello again. My Mother's Day treat was dinner out, no dishes to do, no cleaning, just the way I like it. I went to another endurance ride over the weekend, rode 60 miles yesterday and finished in 10th place out of 25 entries. This morning I got up early and finished packing up to leave early enough to be home by about 10am. My husband and adopted son took me to dinner, son is driving home (6 hour trip) and hubby is sleeping off the big meal with the tv going, he can't fool me, all that snoring gives him away. If I turned it off he would wake up and ask me why, so I'll just leave it going.

I have a few iris blooming, one is a very old heirloom called Florentine that I found surviving at an old homestead where nobody has lived in about 75 years. A truly tough plant. I'll look for a picture of it, or take another one. We got some rain last week and the tall shaggy lawn is too wet to mow. It needs at least a whole day to dry out, maybe more. The rain was comming down when I left on Friday to go to the ride. I haven't looked at the forecast but if I can't mow I can weed tomorrow and maybe dig out the grass invading the edges of the beds. Also have some shrubs that need a new bed, maybe I could get that done too. I'm always more optimistic than able.

On my way to the ride I got into the hardest rain I have ever been in. When it started I was on the freeway going about 60 through a normal rain and suddenly it just came down really hard. I slowed down and at 45 mph I couldn't see the road part of the time, wipers going full speed, some semi trucks passed me and I saw a car parked just out to the right of my "slow" right hand lane. I was afraid to keep going and afraid to stop, so I just went a little slower and hoped anybody coming up behind me was able to see the back of my trailer and that nobody had stopped in front of me. There was hail with the rain and it got so noisy I couldn't hear the radio and I was wondering how much more the windshield could take. I was looking for an exit to take, any exit, just get somewhere to stop and figure out where I was later, but the storm let up before I got to the next one which was the one I needed to take anyhow. A few minutes later the emergency announcement cut into the program and said there was flash flooding in the town I had just passed, warning people not to go through moving water and to stay out of low places. The closest thing I could think of to describe it was like sitting in a car that is going through a carwash. It must have been really noisy in the trailer for my horse but I don't remember feeling him moving around so maybe he just stood nice and still wondering what was going on. When it was all over I discovered that my living quarters in the front of the trailer is indeed waterproof, thank God. It has leaked in the past with much less rain before my hubby calked it with some really good gooey stuff that is supposed to last 40 years. That will do it for the rest of my lifetime I hope.

Hope the rest of your day is a great one. Count your blessings.

Gosh, Mary, how scary! Glad you managed to drive through it, and the horse wasn't spooked.

I've slept in he tack portion of a horse trailer that leaked, NO fun. Good thing your DH fixed yours!

Ok, here is Florentine. It is just barely blue. I have divided this clump and put it next to some blue ones and next to purple ones in another bed.

My mother's day started Thursday, when my daughter fit me into her school/work schedule and took me out to lunch. She bought me a potted stargazer lily (I can smell it where I'm sitting about 12 feet away), one of those casseroles that has it's own warm carrying case and a nice card. Then Friday, my spousal u nit let me buy plants, and today my son and d-i-l drove up on their Harleys for a visit. I thought a plane was landing here.
The most special thing to end the day was when my granddaughter, Diamond, called. Had a real conversation with me .

Well everyone has gone home. I enjoyed it, visiting with family. I gave my twin a division of 2 day lilies, a lilac and some petunias I had started. She is not a gardner, but I am trying to interest her. She really got a kick out of going through my seed boxes. Well to clean up the kitchen, it was a good mother's day, wasn't it?

This lazy, tired old bag of bones has pulled herself outta bed....phew, another MD is over. Got the old homestead all cleaned up, made a load of food, and when it came time to sit down, I was almost too tired to eat. BUT, that is good for the diet!!! My brothers girls (whom I housesat for) even came out and we did laugh and laugh at the fun we had.

I told DH that he was in charge of dishes, but when the time came, he still sat on his duff and didn't lift a finger. I didn't want to make a scene, so all the females did the dish duty. (Just moving them into the sink) I have them all soaking this morning... After everyone left DH came in an collapsed and said 'man, that about did me in!' I can't believe it -gonna have a talk with that guy....This is a usual situation and it will never change, but i have hope!!!!

Weather was in the 80's and beautiful. Gonna be a toasty one here again today and then some much needed rain moving in. I'm going to another garden class this evening (my MD gift to myself)

Oh my 81 yr old mom is always so worried that my boys won't remember me properly. She brought me two of her antique dishes - a huge platter and a dinner dish . I hope she lasts until I get the whole set!!LOL isn't that bad.... She is an absolute treasure...

Gotta go hit the shower- was too tired to do anything but wash the face last night....got some pretzel dessert left - any takers??

pretzel dessert???

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

darius- just wolfed down two huge pieces of it!! It is a crushed pretzel crust, middle layer is cream cheese, cool whip, top layer is strawberry jello with cut up strawberries - good for the sweet tooth!! I just can't leave it along tho - I'll finish off the rest this afternoon and then complain of a gut ache... story of my life...

Just got home. My cousin had surgery this morning 6:00 am, and I went to the hospital to be with his wife. Hit Home Depot got some plants, good sale on bulbs, but didn't buy any. I had planned to pressure wash the deck this afternoon, but it is cloudy and frankly, I don't want to do anything. Bought myself my mother's day gift. A Photosmart photo printer. Been tinkering with it, and it sure seems great!! Was on sale too!!. So I guess all in all it has been a good day. Going to a jewelery party tonight at a neighbors. Don't wear much, but she gets points for warm bodies, so I guess mine counts. Happy monday to all.

Hello again. Sarv I will be glad to eat some of that pretzel and strawberry creation so you won't hurt so much. It's called Mercy in Action!!

Today's weather forecast didn't look too good, in fact they had flash flood warnings up for the county, so I went to do my errands in town thinking that it was going to be too rainy to work outside. I took my time getting some new tennis shoes, some groceries, washing my saddle pads at the coin laundry (I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have been too happy to see all that hair going into the machine but there is no sign saying what we can or can't wash, and no attendant to stop me. I also visited two nurserys and a few misc plant racks. Since I have some plants still sitting in their pots from last week I decided I really can't buy any more until those are in the ground. I keep telling myself that, started toward the cash register with a gallon pot of English Daiseys and turned around and put them back! How's that for discipline?

The ribs in the oven are smelling good. I needed something quick and lazy for dinner, will open a jar of sauerkraut to have with them and maybe some salad or just hot french bread and vegie sticks. I still have an hour to decide on the rest of it. I bought this package of country style ribs with a mark down sticker on them, this is the next to last day they could sell it. Saves a bunch of money, a dollar here and a dollar there all adds up. While I was in the store a lady just ahead of me bought a carton of cigs for almost $32.00. Unbelievable! I can't emagine paying that much for something that smells that bad and will only last her a few days! She looked normal otherwise. She needs a new addiction, like plants, maybe I should have told her. That much money would buy quite a few and they would smell good and last all summer. I guess it is all about choices and none of my business anyhow.

The sun is out and it hasn't rained since I got home so I think I'll go pull some weeds and try not to get too wet from the overgrown lawn. Weather forecast says it will be showery until Thursday so it will grow some more before it gets a haircut.

Have a great evening.
