Tacky yard art!
Are Abutilons tropical??
You have a name for the lavender? Is it a mini? I really want that red & gold one shown more to the top of this thread especially if it's something I can pot it up.
I do have a friend that works for Monterey Bay I can ask. He's the one that Miner's Claim is named after.
Count the pictures down Sue so I can make sure which are the red and gold.
Tracey and I have been drooling over th edescriptionof thi sone. I need to see I I can find a picture
‘Violeta’ -- a distinctly different color break, with rounded, medium sized, satiny, silver pink flowers that age to a lavender pink, and lilac purple veins. Has a lavender purple eye and style, light green calyx. Medium green foliage, average vigor. rev 10/2004 MBN INTRODUCTION-2005 *NEW for 2005!*
and
‘Lavender Pink’ -- small, pale, silvery lavender pink flowers are heavily produced on this compact, moderate grower. This is a smaller plant that probably won't easily exceed 4' in height. It has great foliage, very dark green with maroon veins, long, nicely cut along the margins, and very fuzzy on the undersides, giving it great whitefly resistance. The stems are blackish, it branches heavily, and has an overall nice appearance. Its unusual flower color is enhanced by its pink sepals. rev 10/2004 MBN INTRODUCTION-2005 *NEW for 2005!*
Don't they sound divine, Sue? LOL So is Mobile Pink your fav? I just love that one so much.
Oh Mel, I LOVE your pink coleus esp that last one. And your tacky art is SO CUTE!!! LOL
All the pics are lovely! I discovered these several years ago when I bought a pack of seeds from Select Seeds. The seeds were sooooo easy to grow, and they started blooming & I was hooked! I have several growing, and I always save the seeds so I will never ever be without these. Mine all grow best in full shade and while other things die in the freezes, these beauties just keep on blooming. Year around! That to me is the perfect plant. LOL
DH was on the roof cleaning gutters last fall & knocked the ladder over & broke off several branches. I had been told by a friend that you could just stick them in some soil & they would root, and she was right. I have started sticking some in soil when I trim and they all root.
Picture # 4 Kell, the one Tracey is lusting after, add me to that list.
Mobile pink is so lovely with that huge bloom but lately I am partial to the warm hot colors...oh I can't have a favorite, I like them all! Will definately have to try the seeds, especially if I can get the smaller plant sizes. No room for those giant bushes.
I will see about maybe getting pics of those 2 you describe from MBN and ask about them. May take a while though as he (Keith Miner) is expecting another addition to his family this week so will be kinda busy I am sure.
I had some last year, but they didn't winter over. I had left them outside, and I think they got too wet. I was out at one of the local nurseries the other day and brought this one home. I hadn't seen this colour before. This picture is with a flash, so it kinda washes the colour out. It's deeper than the photo.
