I'm looking to buy at least 2 of the fieldstone walkway molds and can only find one place on line that has it
I know other places carry them,am I googling the wrong name for them? And the one place I found has them back ordered
These are the molds that you put in place, pour in the cement and wait a minute, pull up and do the next one
I have the octagon one but I can't remember where I bought it from...and my DH likes the fieldstone one better than the octagon
Does anyone know a good place to get them?
Or have one they are willing to sell 'cause you're not using it?
We are covering a VERY large area so I need at least 2
Walkway molds
Have you tried Lee Valley?
http://www.leevalley.com/garden/page.aspx?c=1&cat=2,2180&p=33222
It's the only place I can think of, off hand, that carries them.
Rhonda
lowe's has them.
Lowes has them????Its a 50 mile trip but I'd do it
They are building a lowes in town but its not even close to being open
Wonder if HD has them....
I checked lee valley, they had the brick and octagon
Not the fieldstone
But that never even came up in my google search....wonder why?
I got mine at Lowes in the building materials department by the cement accessories. It's called the Quikrete Walk Maker. I bought two of them but you can only use one at a time. You have to remove the mold from the section you just poured before you can start the next one. I hope this makes sense.
Here are instructions (taken directy from the Quikrete website):
Building Your Stepping Stones:
* Place the WalkMaker mold in the desired location
* Mix concrete thoroughly until plastic-like consistency is achieved
* Use a shovel or trowel to fill mold cavity level to the surface of the mold. Pat and smooth surface with a trowel, or knock off the edges with an old paintbrush
* Remove the mold promptly and smooth the concrete edges with a trowel until the desired appearance is obtained
* Place the mold adjacent to the completed section and continue this process until your project is completed.

I bet Home Depot has them, I'd call to see, might save you a trip. Good Luck!

Karyn - Is it something like this when you say fieldstone?

I couldn't get your link to work, but I went to that site, clicked on stepping stones and then went to the second page and there they are,I have the octagon one,but the one with random stones is the one my DH likes(I gotta pull all my octagon ones up...)
I need 2 cause I want this to go fast........
And Lowes, when I called ,said theirs were 14.95........
Lots cheaper than by mailorder
Figure I'll save about 20 bucks and I won't use 20 bucks in gas to go there
Plus I get to look at their plants....LOL
search rock stone mold on Ebay ..

Not what I'm looking for
And they have lots of plants! It will be worth the trip.
You can't use two molds simultaneously on the same path. I bought two and ended up taking one back because it couldn't be used. When you pour a section, you have to lift the mold off before you can pour the next section. The reason that you have to do this is because the mold will not fit properly against another mold. It only fits when you line it up to an unmolded section.
I doesn't take long, even with one mold. I would mix an 80 lb. bag of concrete then pour a mold. I'd then mix another bag and as soon as it was ready I was able to remove the mold off of the previous one and proceed. I did my path in an afternoon. Here's a pick the day after it was poured.
We are doing a huge patio area, roughly 20 x 30,plus a few other smaller areas
I figure once we get the first line down the middle, I can go off in one direction and my DH can go in the other
Your path looks great!
I may do something like that out to the barn
Then you can use two, woohooooo, It's going to look great!
I wanted to dye my walkway but the additive was so expensive. Instead, I purchased concrete stain. You are supposed to wait a month or something like that for your concrete to cure. I couldn't wait and did it like a week later. Most of it chipped off over the winter. I' going to reapply it in the very near future. I really liked the look and am hoping since the concrete is cured that it will hold up a little better.
I've seen them at HD too, also in the cement secton.
I called HD and they said they had them last year but haven't gotten any in this year
And thanks all you guys for all of your help......
branka,
Staining the concrete is better than the additive?
We were going to add the stuff,I've seen a liquid(wicked expensive)
and I know there is a powder you add to the water, don't know the price on it...
How do you stain it?
Is it like paint?
Staining is cheaper, a lot cheaper. I think it's around $20.00 a gallon. The powder was somewhere between $5 and $8 per package. It takes one package to do an 80# bag of concrete! Can you imagine? Each time you pour a mold it takes an 80# bag.
When you go to purchase your molds go to the paint department and ask them about the concrete stain. It actually looked great but it wore off. I think because my walk wasn't cured. I was impatient and couldn't wait to make it a terra cotta color.
Yup ,there they are!
There is one for 9.99,5 days left
and one buy it now for 14.95,plus 5 shipping
Cheaper to go to Lowes
There really are some interesting things on there
I wonder what those molds are for flagstone are?
they're expensive......
wonder how may bags of cement you need for each one
Hi 'yall - for those of you still interested - www.ImprovementsCatalog.com
carries 3 types - cobblestone, Belgian, and Venitian molds. They're all $19.99 ea, though - so a little more expensive. -C
