Anyone getting frost and freeze advisories today?

Palmyra, IL(Zone 5b)

Frost and freeze advisory tonight.Starting at midnight until 8:00am.Heading out to cover everything.I was hopeing I wasn't the only one doing this tonight and there might be something on a forum to help me out.I'm not sure what perennials will be okay and my lilies are up 5-12". I should I cover them.No one probably online right now so I'm moving all my potted plants to the greenhouse and putting in a 400 watt heat lamp bulb.Hope I don't cook them either.Wish someone was around to answer some questions.
Wish me luck; gotta go cover everything now.I was putting this off hoping they would change the forcast.we've been in the 80's for the last 2 weeks. This is too weird.Had to get this off my chest.
Thanks,Jody

Hi, Jody. I know how you feel. Last night it went down to minus 6 celcius. The perennials should be okay because mine were. I had bought some neat plants last night from a nursery and didnt' want to bring them into the house. The nursery had lots of little gnats flying around so I didn't want to infect my plants inside. I do have one of those tarp greenhouses so I also bought some clear plastic and put it over the plants and hubby borrowed a based board heater from the neighbour. In the morning we check and they were fine.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

It's snowing here now! The forcast kept saying it would turn back to rain, so I figured everything should be ok, but it's such a bummer to look out and see snow covering so many blooms. I did'nt cover anything, so I'll just pray.

Just measured half inch of snow on our deck in southern Ohio. Supposed to warm up again tomorrow.

I made long plastic covers for my rows of tomatoes and peppers yesterday. I just used painters drop cloths and cheap plant stakes to keep the plastic off the plants and peg them down. That seems to work fine and the frost passed us by last night. There is another chance here Tuesday night so when I lifted it this morning early I just left the tents pegged on one side with bricks to hold it down until later this week.

We had a freeze warning last night as well. I had some annuals I'd bought day before and hadn't planted yet so I just brought them into the garage. Also had 3 flats of plants that arrived on Friday from Bluestone so they came in to the kitchen counters.

I noticed today that my hydrangeas really got hit hard. Several blackened leaf edges on most of them. I have 6 and all of them suffered. I'll just leave them be as I don't want to prune off any of my blooms for this year. *sigh*
