What a great idea! Especially with the cost of gas these days.
I can hold three more in my car -- plus room for plants in the back -- if anyone needs picking up at the station. :-)
Forgot to say for Jo -- there would still be room for chocolate!

Round Up in San Diego
We took the party train to Reno recently....it was a lot of fun! I think you have something there with the Round Up Train! Let's see about that! I have a friend in San Diego somewhere, I'm sure she'll let me flop on her couch. Too much fun....and I'm telling you....this girl NEEDS some girlfriend time....too much work is making kachina a dull girl! Oh, and by the way Jo, I make devastating triple-chocolate brownies! LOL
K
oh, is that like portable 'Death by Chocolate' ? sounds great. Still figure on trying to make it, but can't promise.

Are you and spin coming blooms? (making wide froggy eyes with batting lids in your direction.)
Sorry Frogs! I have been battling with inside-house things!
Count me in! I will have baby abutilons (peach if true from seed) and leonotis, and lychnis coronaria that won't flower until next year!

Emails are going out to southern ca subscribers. Any and all are welcome but I would be certifiable by the time I sent 400 emails. SoCal and I are working our way through the list so hang tight. A copy of it is on the round up forum.

Janice
I had better pot some stuff up in case I can come!
K
Hi!! Everybody!!!
A Round-up sounds like a good idea! I would like to attend with my wife. San Diego is an hour and a half away from Perris, CA. So no problem with transportation. I emailed Janice to tell her that we will try to come to this event. It sounds like a lot of fun. Is this the thread Janice said that we should keep in touch with so we get all the details? Looking forward to meeting all of you!!
Chuck and Loida
Chuck....see where this thread continues....

Drdon has offered us his ranch in Temecula for this event. Lucky us!!
Kgirl, that took me to Cactus and Succulents????? Ooops
See ya all there! I hope I can drive down there.....
I need the direction to get there....
SnowElk
Double oops! Thanks Blooms! Cancel that last blunder!
K :~)
Oh, sounds like you all are gonna have a blast! I sure wish I could make it, but its not in the cards. Have fun and I will be thinking of you.
I just got an e-mail about this.
Since it is so close, I will try to make it. I can't absolutely promise though--about 75 percent sure.
I'll keep monitoring this to see if things change.

WOW!!!!! I didn't even know there was a California Forum, anyhow, count the Passiflora King in. I'll be there.
Mark
Janice, it's up to you, but I know there are a few AOL Garden Chat people in the San Diego area. Do we want to do any cross inviting and perhaps introduce some new people to the world of Daves Garden or is that not allowed?
Mark
Wow, nice looking spread there. . . will be a great place for a round-up, especially with those 4-legged critters. They just look like big teddy bears, well maybe with the exception of Scamp. . .LOL.
Sure hope I can make it.
;-Janet
hiya jcangemi,
nice to meet you.
Thank you for your kind words. The 'four-leggers' run the show here for sure...lol.
The ranch is a work of love and a work in progress.
Hope to see you.
best,
Don
We would like to come to the Roundup, especially if it is in Temecula. Not only are the photos of the ranch beautiful but Temecula is only 20 minutes away from me in Perris.
Let us know what to bring for food. My wife cooks American, Chinese, Filipino and Mexican food. So let us know what you need and we will see what we can do.
I don't know what we would bring as far as plants as we have just started gardening seriously a year ago April. I hope to have my Lycoris bulbs all dug up before they bloom. We brought one Lycoris with us from the San Fernando Valley when we moved from there sixteen years ago. Now we have over 100 bulbs. Some are promised and some we have decided to keep but I suspect there will be more left over.
We used to have two Shelties from the Tri-County Sheltie Rescue (in Thousand Oaks). However they had been abused so badly that they only lived three years. But we love dogs, cats and most 4 legged critters.
Hope to see everybody at the Roundup...
Thanks,
Chuck and Loida
Oh goodness, Don....I had better REALLY try to make it! How lovely the ranch is! And how very thoughtful and kind to offer such a neat space for the meeting! The powers that be in charge of the round up will obviously make the decision, but like I said, that was quite an offer!
Karen
Don, can we bring a friend who isn't affiliated with Daves? She lives up there and would be good company for my girlfriend.
Mark
Sounds good to me. So is this the plan?
hiya folks,
We've indeed offered and Frogsrus is organizing the event. As I said, all are welcome, yet frogsrus is the one to be granting permissions and arranging the food part. We look forward to meeting all those who attend and as previously stated, are honored to host such an event loaded with gardeners.
This is very exciting for us.
Best to all,
Don
Mark, I do not see any problem with that. I am sure folks will bring a friend or two.
I'm thinking of camping in the Nat'l Forest o'er by either Oak Grove or Warner Springs... and there's one right down the road from Temecula too. Aren't there campgrounds on Vail Lake? or is that a development area. On my old map it looks like it's marked campground.
O course I haven't even gone EAST yet -- LOL
I think ya'll could mark me as "can't come" and if I show up I'll bring bakery breakfast. preferably a Mexican bakery, they make the best // not so sweet // breakfast breads. 'grins and slinks off to the desert..' ~Blooms
