Everything is blooming.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

I have viburnum, bradford pear, crab apple, purple plum, dogwoods, and lilacs all blooming now. What a show!! Next will be all the annuals. I have things for all seasons, but I think spring is the most beautiful.

Its such a treat everyday to see what new is in bloom! My Magnolia
is in bloom as are the primroses, daffodils, erythronium, arabis, anemone
and other bulbs. Spring is certainly gorgeous! Here's one of my primroses.
A juliana variety I believe.

I just put in a formal rose garden. The bare root roses arrived
a week ago and are just sticks at this point. Can't wait for rose
season here. Your roses sure look happy & health jdee!

Thank you, Tammy. That rose bush came with the house. It is a climer, and didn't really have anything to climb. It was all bowed out and looking really pitiful. In fact, we thought about moving it to the back fence, and replacing it with a bushy type rose. My cousin told me to wait until fall. I was even thinking of gettin rid of it. We never got around to it, but I did cut it back, and buried some of the cuttings in the ground. It came back bushier and new stems grew from the cuttings and filled it out nicely, so we bought a trellis for it, and decided to leave it there.

A couple of days ago, my neighbor and I were talking, and she mentioned that little rose bush. She said that the previous owner (deceased now) really loved that rose, and she just babied it. Now, I'm so glad we didn't get rid of it. I'm happy with it just where it is.

The yellow roses in the background were just purchased Wednesday. I decided they'd make a good container rose....

Plants have so many sentimental associations don't they!

My old neighbors (who really got me launched from a complete
know-nothing newbie gardener to a know-just-a-little obsessed
gardner) were/are an older (60-70's) couple that were/are very much
in love. He bought her a flowering almond since it bloomed on
her birthday. Now I always remember them & their love when
it blooms.

Can't wait to see my roses in bloom! My dogwoods are just
starting to pop today. Another couple of days and they'll be
in full glory.

Ahhh spring....

What a great story. I think of freshness, and new beginnings when I think of Spring. It's a great time of the year.
