It's been sooo beautiful outside...I thought I had hardened some of these babies off..

How about one of my dogs pulling a perennial up right after planting it. They running around with it in her mouth, shaking it like a toy.

Also my cat lays and rolls all over the catmint. She didn't destroy it but there is a permanent flat center now. She also loves to help be plant my younf plants by digging them up and chewing on them. Then she has to tell me all about it.

My cat likes to gnaw at my yellow foxgloves and some varmint ate all of my nicotiana.

(Zone 7a)

Darn those varments!!!!!!

I have had horrible luck with my seedlings this year.......they germinate and grow for awhile and than 'things' keep happening. I knocked a tray over and killed a couple dozen.....slugs got into one of my cold frames and ate a few (most) of my Daturas, Dianthus, and 4 O'clock seedlings.
And I am having a real hard time getting many of the ones I want to germinate for some reason too.

Too early to tell yet on stuff outside, but give me time :-)

I did manage to kill off 2 baby Paulownia trees I had inside and my Shasta Daisy seeds never did germinate. - Yup! I'm toxic! -C

I'm drowning Kangaroo Paws. Silly me, I thought I was just watering them. *sigh* 2 down, 7 to go.

I'm not actually killing my Red Spike ice plants, I was just feeding the ground squirrels. Now I am dousing their open wounds with Liquid Fence which might sting a bit but hopefuly won't kill them!

Oh, and I'm apparently torturing one of my Santa Cruz Hibiscus (which is not actually a hibiscus). Two are thriving and one is practically naked.

I don't think I can get my Gardener of the Year award, lol!

I started an artichoke from seed, and every time it puts out a new leaf, another one dies,so it only ever has one half-way decent leaf (which is REALLY ugly anyway)....AND it has a serious drinking problem! Needs about a gallon of water a day. We've discussed this, as the other fellas he shares a flat with pay their fair share of the rent, and never overindulge. I think it's time he goes, don't you?

(Zone 7a)

I have a bulb I'm slowly letting die becasue I have to many you are welcome to him if you like.

Brookhaven, PA(Zone 7a)

I have killed my moonflowers, 4 white 2 red--- i have leggy seedlings and crowed lobelia and nicotina (and nowhere to put them if I prick them out)-- more seeds to start (but nowhere to put them) and serious bloom jelousy.... sob.... sigh....

Well, I managed to forget the sweetpea seeds I had soaking and I am afraid some of them are rotted. Only about 1/3 of them have sprouted. One day I will do everything right and become the perfect gardener. Jessamine

Belleville, IL(Zone 6a)

I thought everything was going pretty good this spring until my golden and a racoon decided to divide my 2 year old oakleaf hydrangea. The dog's okay...the racoon escaped unscathed and the shrub is demolished.

Oak Grove, MN(Zone 4a)

I take it back, I have started killing things already this year. I went to check on my English ivy yesterday, and the fool stuff is dead as a doornail. I must really have talent, I don't know anyone else who can kill English ivy!

Paris, TX(Zone 8a)

My husband baught a small greenhouse for me, and being the beginnger that I am, I had him set it up in the sunniest area of my yard. I don't have to tell all of you what happened....

Oh nooooo! I can relate jdee. I have the same type of greenhouse and it can get pretty hot in there fast!

Two days ago I went out to unzip it and found all my big tomatoes wilted beyond belief. I was devastated and shocked. It was one big mass of floppy green stuff! The leaves were all sticking to each other and it took me a good hour to unstick the plants from each other and give them water. They did recover though. Now I go out as soon as possible every morning and open up the flap so the plants can breath.

Hopefully some water and cooler air will revive your seedlings. Good luck!

I think the moonflower and 4 oclocks will make it. The cleome and hollyhocks are gone. Totally fried. The rest of the seeds never sprouted. This is my first attempt, and if I didn't have DG and it's members to encourage me, I'd probably just give up and always buy plants. :)

Brookhaven, PA(Zone 7a)

LOL!! I STILL buy plants! Oh and I killed the boccoli and cauliflower and had to buy plants....sigh

Remind me NEVER EVER to buy Lisianthus seeds again! They are the slowest growing pain in the **** I've ever seen. Most of the tiny little seedlings died and the rest are still no bigger than a pinhead and I started them in late January.

(Zone 7a)

Booo to Lisianthus!

Awwww poor jdee

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

golgi, I have planted lisianthus several times over the years and was never entirely happy with the results. You are right they are extremely slow. the best luck I had was with pelletized seeds, but even tho they germinate quite well, seems like it takes all summer for them to reach bloom size. Don't think I will try them again, but do like their longlived blooms.

And yes overheating is a serious problem with small gh. My gh on northeast corn of garage overheats if I'm not careful. I do have an exhaust fan and it is set to come on at 90degrees. Mostly I just go out an open the door early in the morning.

My little mini gh are in my roofed passage way from house to garage. They too get pretty hot and I unzip their doors and fold the door up over the top. If we didn't love our plants so much I guess we wouldn't be doing all this caretaking. DonnaS
