when mountains give way to flowers...

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

if you have the faith to move mountains :-)

it looks nice!

Oak Grove, MN(Zone 4a)

This is really sharp. But, as much as I like the vine and flowers, I'm not sure it looks quite right now.

I thought the drawing of the vine looked funny against the photo of the dianthus. Now that the vine and lettering are set off by the shadow, I think it looks great. Please keep the vine!

Just thinking ahead....any thoughts of changing the flower as the seasons change?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

oooops - I posted a thread also - sorry!

I thinks it's beautiful !!

Terry, definitely! It'll be easy to swap this out with other great pics as the seasons go.

Beautiful

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Yup but keep the little flowers next to the Dave's sign. I see those and I associate them with Dave's.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

very pretty!

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

Love it.

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Love it! I like the idea of changing the flower scene too.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

This is very classy. I love it.

Keyport, NJ(Zone 7a)

Keep ahead of the season in spring for all of us with a delayed spring but in winter I don't want to see any snow. Maybe winter can be reserved for tropicals!!!

I love all that green...it's just starting here in Keyport.

It's really lovely! I'm also glad you kept "Dave's flowers", they're always a touch of home!

What a nice surprise! I like it lots better than the straight line even with the hills added. To echo the above comment, keep the original vine next to the name, it has significance to us old timers here, and also keep the For Gardeners, By Gardeners line, and just change the background now and then. With all the flowers we have I think we should be looking at something more interesting than a generic background.

Aarhus, Denmark(Zone 7a)

Dave - maybe a teeny, tiny dropshadow behind the original flowering vine? Only a couple of pixels wide/deep, could be a dark grey, just to give the sweet thing a little texture. Right now, it almost "drowns" in the green background.

Other than that, I love it! :-)

Willoughby, OH(Zone 5a)

I vote to change the dianthus to a morning glory for summer!LOL!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I see it is a new day at DG! Pretty scenery this morning. I guess it could change monthly or you could just incorporate a slide show. LOL It could be different every time we look like the old PDB photos were. Now, that sounds like some work!

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

WOW, was that there when I got here about 6:40 cst? Or am I just oblivious to all my surroundings?

sugarweed, I put it in around 7:15am CT.

Shew, I thought I was a gonner.

Spokane Valley, WA(Zone 5b)

Ahhh... how refreshing!

Could there be a mini-slide slow of suitable pics? Our members reside in both hemispheres and thus see the change in seasons at very different times, if at all. I sure wouldn't mind seeing a pic of crocus emerging from beneath the snow in the middle of August. :)

Maybe Dave could make it so the PF, GBW, etc., each had different photos...

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

I love it! And I really like the idea of it changing ever so often.

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Beautiful, Dave! And I like the idea of changing it with the seasons -- or zones?

Rocky Mount, VA(Zone 7a)

Most Excellent !

I viewed awsome Alpine flowers while on Pike's Peak.
I'de rather have flowers than a mountain, any day! lol
However, mountains serve a necessary purpse, I'm sure.
Happy Spring to all!

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

The shading and re-size on the vine really work...this is great!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

So someone has been playing with it?? I keep sitting here looking at it, trying to decide if I am nuts, it has been changed or I just got used to it. LOL

I thought the same thing. Different photos would be nice. My web designer did a random picture javascript for my site. Both the thumbnail and the quote on my sidebar change whenever the page refreshes. http://gardenwife.com

i was just at the Brugmansia forum, saw some datura flower instead of brugmansia. chuckling here. pls. do not get me wrong, it is beautiful but wrong flower i think. in fact those are Datura innoxia if not mistaken. http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/brugsetc/

Spokane Valley, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh wow! Looks like Dave's been playing around with other candidates for the banner... even if they might be a wee bit incorrect. ;)

Thanks for sharing that, MaVie! It sure it pretty.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

i just happen to peak in the brugs forum, notice the datura flowers. so far i have not ventured to other forums so i do not know if there are other changes there too.

u're welcome Donna :D.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I bet he was just jerkin' your chains, Brug people!

Datura meteloides, actually, and it was very intentional. :-)

Actually, up until recently the brug forum included daturas, so there. :)

So are you planning to make the photos decided by the section of the site you're in, or have you not figured it out yet for sure?

-Paul-

Haven't decided for sure. Really, I'm just goofing around. :) These little fun projects are good ways to blow off some steam during a buzy day.
