This is kind of a continutation of another thread that is closed, don't know if this if this is the right forum to post it to but here goes...........-I'm researching how many of you use the p-touch for your garden markers and the model you use. Have been looking at them and wondering if the more expensive one's are worth the extra cost (more fonts, etc, and wider tape) Also what size and color tape you have found works best?
Would appreciate any input, several others members have been asking about these also.
Thanks!
P-touch labelers for plant markers
I'm trying to find some of the threads where I've posted the info on my P-Touch.....one of the best gardening tools I've ever purchased! Too fun to make and they last forever, in the hot sun and constant rain. Near the top of the thread is a post about where I buy the metal plant stakes, further down is info on the P-Touch.
Here's one of them, if I find more I'll come back in and add them as an Edit.

Thanks Happenstance! The 2600 is one of the models I've been looking at, didn't know you could link it to a computer though!
It is very cool.....the software is pretty lame, but workable once you figure it out. I just dump the P-Touch database into an Excel spreadsheet, where I can add in more info, sort and spiff and polish however. But, for printing labels the P-Touch database works just fine. Like I said, this is a "gadget".....but it's a good gadget and one that I use all the time.
PS The labels wear like iron. I just got a corrected name on a plant and was hard pressed to peel the label off the metal marker.
PPS I would never use the copper markers ones again, they tarnish and they are difficult to polish up again. The galvanized markers are much cheaper and come in more sizes than I'll ever need or want!
I think it was last year in another discussion with Candy that I decided on the PT-2600 as well. I got a good deal on mine and got the PT-2610 which includes the AC power adapter and 3 or 4 label cartridges (can't remember) and the cord to connect to the PC all in a nice carrying case.
I also use the 1" wide clear tape on the C style markers.
I also have the p-touch 2600/2610 but have not had the time to learn how to use the database yet. I will have time soon, tho. I have most of my plants in an Excel spreadsheet. Do any of you folks know if I can dump the Excel info into the p-touch db? It would be a gift from heaven if I could. I need to dig out the manual.
Sorry, can't answer that......would be glad to look in my manual, but I have no idea where it is. :-)
I've always gone the other way, because I keep more fields of data in Excel than I do on the P-Touch. I print 3 lines and have probably 5-6 fields total on the P-Touch,whereas I have probably 12-15 fields in Excel.
I feel the need to print some labels.......
MariaJose - Yes you can. At least with Version 3.2 of the P-Touch Editor I can Import a Database which allows me to import an Excel xls or csv file. I have also recently downloaded version 4.0 of the P-Touch Editor and it is much easier to open an Excel file and bring the data into a database that can be used by the P-Touch Editor.
I have the Brother P-Touch 1750 and I have a question if someone can help. I got it last year and haven't used it yet. Now I'm at it, (Actually, DH has had surgery and if off work, and this is a good job for him right now)and I can't seem to understand how to make the label so it does not waste and inch of tape at the beginning of each label. Anyone using this?
Thanks, Legit
Thanks for all your help, I finally purchased a 1500PC-since I just had my computer refurbished and upgraded decided might as well take advantageof the database I already have on it, plus the cost was less. Thanks again!
Legit, I don't know about the 1750, but I have the 2200 (which I LOVE). To make it quit advancing, I press CODE (the red button) Z (A. Cut). I don't know if the 1750 has the option. Do you have a code button? If so, any of the codes in red over the letters function with the Code button. So if you do Code Z, you will see something flash on the little screen that says "Auto Cut On". Press Code Z again to turn it off.
Then when you need to cut, you can do Code Space. Your space button should have in red, above it, Feed & Cut.
When you use Code Z, your labels will all be on one strip and you can cut them off with scissors then. It saves about 1/2 of your tape.
Hope this helps.

Legit - I must have missed seeing your question. I have the 2620 and mine is like ButterflyChaser's except the "Code" button is blue in color instead of red. Otherwise, I do the same....."Code" "Z" turns off the cutting feature. "Code" "Space" let's me manually cut the tape wherever I want.
What a great thread. Langbr, thanks so much! I have GOT to find time to read my manual (it's here, somewhere... Happenstance, you're not alone in this manual-less world).
After I posted my question above, I failed to "watch" the thread and couldn't find it again *snif* but I finally located it tonight - whew! Searching through all the various forums for it, I was once again struck by how wonderful and varied this website is.
Now I need to go back and read up on some of that other cool stuff I saw along the way to rediscovering this thread...
