Maya Cuttings

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

After grubbing around all day, the mosquitos get lethal about 3pm (the new shift...new kind of mozzie) and I come in to scrub the dirt off and throw on a mu mu (actually mu'u mu'u). Most comfortable things around... I look like I am wearing a circus tent but who cares!!!!

Carol

Gratiot, WI(Zone 5b)

You ladies are too much...lol

I want a Mu'u Mu'u too... roflol

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

Please do Rich, so I don't stick out like a sore thumb!
The DW won't even come out of the house on 7/10 when I have my memorial parade and garage party for dearly departed DS. Like she'd be embarrassed or something. ?
Don't think it even phases the neighbors. It's the same guy they've seen experimenting in Jan using a leafblower to clear snow off the driveway or wandering around in afternoon yard talking to myself. (Actually I'm out praising the performers, encouraging the newbies or experiments and threating the malingerers with finding their butts in the compost pile if they don't get with the program!!)

Gratiot, WI(Zone 5b)

LOL 8ft, where does a guy from Wisconsin find one???

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL Blaine! I'm dying here! lololol

I have one, and I have to admit...they are comfortable to knock around the house in. lol

Rich lol...go to walmart, they have plenty and quite the selection too! lol

Ok now that just went right over the top of my head Shirley!

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

What, that we don't have the luxury of buying / wearing mu'u mu'u' up here where it's too cold ?
One of these days I will migrate South to stay.

Scoot,

Gratiot, WI(Zone 5b)

Thanks for saving me the embarassment of going to Walmart and asking some sales girl where their Mu Mu's are Scooterbug. Geez, how embarassing.....

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

you might not want to do that. for the past three years we have gotten freezing ice rain storms. this year alone we got two. its been pretty cold here the last few winters.

i am down here in south carolina georgia area. i might migrate further south if this keeps up. hehe

now if i got a mu"u" mu"u" it would swamp me. do they make them in petite mediums?? hmm i guess it wouldnt matter if i am in the house. really wouldnt matter outside come to think of it as my only neighbor is always drinking so it might not be a problem. HEHE

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

whoahhhh there nelly! Some of the most beautiful things I've seen in the world were visions spied through a brown bottle as I was tipping it back. He might just pull up a lawn chair and enjoy the view.

rich - I had to go to CO to get mine and DS probably snagged it at a garage sale.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Let me know...they are in the consignment shops all around here!

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

Aloha - if you see one in a black-n-white or shades of green pattern (not too busy though) and it'd fit a good 6' samoan, let me know what the cost and shipping is. If my first brug season pans out, I think I'm gonna be spending a lot of time outside after dark. May as well pretend I'm in the islands. btw - my first ship was out of Pearl, so I got the privilege of 2 years in Oahu. I got a firm handle on the pigeon english, Mt. Ranier beer, body boards, chasing the tourist girls and tans but could never come to terms with poi.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

unfortunately Mare, mu mu's are made in one size only, far as i know. check some in local goodwill or salvation army stores. much cheaper and more selections.

do not worry Rich, it will not embarash u to ask sales clerk. they would not know if u are buying for GF or DW.

being petite as i am, i just shorten the lenght.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL all of you!!!!

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

waiiiiit a minute Rich. Wisconsin? milk and cheese capital of the world?

They're probably called 'moo moo' there and I bet you could find them in school colors over at good old Moo U.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

LOLOL Blaine!!!! Don't forget not just the milk and cheese but the Budweiser plant is there too! lol

Moo moo's are anywhere...just go to the section just past the junior's department...there they all hang, and yes all one size fits, that's the glory of wearing one! lol

* update *

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Come on Down south and visitate with me Shirley, lol...I'd let ya borrow one of mine and we could sit in the rockin' chairs and have couple of mint juleps...eh? Shoot we could even go to Wally World here and shop for a couple so you can bring em' back up there to pass out at Christmas!

lol

Gratiot, WI(Zone 5b)

BrugAddict: Just to set things straight, Bud is made in St. Louis MO and we have jokes about the Clydesdales but I won't go into that. Wisconsin does make more beers than any other state though. Oddly we consume more Brandy than anyother state as well. Hic-up!

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Yesssss ! The home of Cheese, brats, miller beer & Harley Davidson.

Sound like a great summer coming on !

*/;-)

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL ya'll are so much fun!

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

My cuttings arrived today and are in water.

Thanks Scoot - guess you can update your list received

Thank you all.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

8ft...send me your address.

Carol

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Darn! I would have loved a cutting of that! Am I too late?

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Scooter I received my cuttings today and they are in water. You have e-mail.

Linda

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Ony 6' SAmoan? Yu keiki size Brah... !

QUESTION (you guys tired of me saying that, yet?): Is it best to start the cutting in water or directly in soil? I have read both ways...does it make that much difference? I have been putting them in CoirPeat/fine perlite directly... Think they would go faster in water first?

Carol

Checking at the P.O. today...pant pant

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Carol I started mind in water because with all the cuttings that I received this year I had real good luck with it. But I will wait to see what others have to say, there are more experience Brug growers then me. Then I will do what is recommended.

Linda

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Different people swear by different methods.

Plant directly or wait for lenticils (white nubbies) to form in water before planting.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Hey can someone think of me next year with one of those cuttings? I'd love to try one of them. Aren't these the ones with varigated leaves?

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

This was an impromptu, adhoc expedition Karrie. They are variegated and in the original thread I posed the question of the amount of variegation being affected by temperature/climate like rose blooms and thought it would be a cool experiment. Then another jumped on it said GO! Kel bellied up to the bar with an offering of maya cuttings and Scoot wrapped her arms around the distribution.

So it was kind of a first come, first server but also ensuring the cuttings were distributed all around the country including HA.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

yes - I see that, and unfortunately didn't see the thread in time to get in on the offer. Just hoping maybe next year someone can share one with me. :-)

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

I didn't get tips but should I have a sucker or when I get a decent lateral going, I'll share.

????

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

????

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Karrie lol I think he was saying he may be able to get a sucker from the plant when he gets it growing pretty good then he'll share lol..

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

It takes a while to learn the jargon!!! I am still in remedial Brugmansia 101. LOL

Carol

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

hehehe lol Carol sometimes I feel I must be too.

Ok now I'm getting concerned my mail hasn't gotten to Shirley yet *sigh* I hope it gets there tomorrow...it should already be there dang!

Julie

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Thanks! He emailed me to let me know what he meant. lol. Question marks like: ??? mean "question" to me!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

lol Karrie, me too!

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

OK, I'll bite....what does ???? mean?
