Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

i was browsing the internet and found these two products i hadn't seen before,

garden lantern plant markers and wallo water used to keep seedling warm outside up to 2 months berfore last frost. the markers are halfway down the page and the wallo water is at the bottom.

The wallo water is just like our Kozy Koats that we have here. A gentleman who lives here in my city created them. Maybe the wallo water is a copy of his. About the same price for them to. He started off with the clear colored ones and now they come in red. Supposed to attract the heat more.

I have used wall o'water/cosy coats for years, since I first found them.

I put them out in the snow and fill with wate about a week or mor e- depends - before planting.. When the soil inside is the right temp I plant whatever I'm going to plant. Usually tomatoes. Also use them around lilies if there is going to be a hard frost after they have poked through.

If ground is still too cold by middle of April, I warm soil with a kettle of boiling water, let it cool down and then plant. Last year we had a monster snow but the tomatoes were not harmed at all.

Make my own above ground markers from tops of frozen orange juice tins and a paint pen so have never used those labels. My labels flutter in the wind. Think it helps keep the birds away.

Edited to say, I would ask if the labels are UV sensitive before I buy them. You don't want to have to replace them every year.

How do you guys keep the darned things from collapsing onto your plants? I've tried them for 2 years now, and continually have that problem. The weight of the water is so much that putting stakes in the center doesn't prevent it, either. What am I missing?

Our Cdn made ones don't fall over. We don't put sticks inside. the water tubes hold each other upright. They do close (touch) each other at the top.
