CLOSED: CLOSED: Round Robin with a Twist Part II

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

The seeds will go out in the mail this afternoon. I apologize for not getting this done yesterday as I expected to.

The following is the order they are to be sent in and I must say it was a great learning experience for my grandaughter. I taught her how to cut and paste from the site to a word program and how to match up user names with the emails and the addresses. It kept her very busy for about 4 hours after we drew out the names and numbered them, and she didn't even realize she was increasing her skill levels!

I believe from the number of people that I initially counted until we went to do this list that there must have been several people who did not send me their addresses. I did not bother going back over the list and trying to track down missing people. I thought my instructions were pretty clear and if they were not followed I don't feel I need to spend anymore of my time on this than I all ready have.

The address below yours will be the one that you are sending the box on to.

Please use delivery confirmation when sending your box out and post it on this thread.

When and if this box gets to be less than worthwhile please let me know and we will discontinue it, or make a decision to do something differently before people are wasting postage to continue to mail it.

Have fun, play fair, and I hope you enjoy all of the seeds!

Can't wait for this Alice. Thanks so much for you hard work and your granddaughter's, hehe. Anxious to hear the comments and the Robin makes its flight. Have a great day. Kim

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Wow what a list - I hope there is still a few things left when it gets here!

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

This box is approximately 12 X 12 X 8. So if there is not anything left when it gets to you it will be a mystery to me.

I have repeatedly ask people to play fair and think of the number of people left on the list. There are a lot of large packages of seeds that can be broken into smaller ones.

I have discovered this year that it makes a lot more sense to only plant 6 or 7 seeds of a kind than to plant a package and have been pleased with the results from this.

I would guess that anyone who has been on Dave's for more than 1 year would have this many or more seeds that they could share. Since a lot of the people on this list are members who have been here longer than I have, I would assume they will probably be donating more than they take.

Leander, TX(Zone 8b)

I will defiantly only take a few seeds of the varieties that I like. Why take a whole package when I can share the goods with others on the list. I am a new gardener but I do have a few that I can throw into the loot. Great advice Alice!!

Leesville, SC(Zone 8a)

I will be putting some seed packets in there as well. Would like to thank you and your GD for doing this Alice. This was a lot of work

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

If everything goes well your right it should last this list and then some - but one bad seed can ruin the whole thing!

Shepherd, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks for setting this up, Alice. I know it's a lot of work and can get confusing while getting the process going. I'm glad you made it something fun for your granddaughter. My daughter is always wanting to help me bag seeds up when I'm cleaning them. It's a mom/grandma-daughter thing. :-)

I'm sort of picky as to what I like and grow, so I'll probably end up passing up most of what's in the box, but I always like to keep an open mind. I have stuff to add, so I'll let you know when it gets around to me.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

OHHHHHHHHH shoot! I wished I had of found this bird before she flew this a.m. :(...

Julie

Box Springs, GA

I can't wait to get this-I'll make sure to be fair:)

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

I will be adding the same amount as I take out, maybe even a few more.

Doris

Deltona, FL(Zone 9a)

You can move everyone up a spot...drop me from list...By the time they make it. It will be to late in my season to plant..Where I am in Fl. I am planting now. So maybe next time.. Good growing to you all.

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

The box went out this afternoon about 1:00 by USPS at a cost of 8.50 with the delivery confirmation.

The confirmation # is

Thanks for all the hard work you put into this round robin. I know it isn't an easy venture.
For those waiting for the box, you can start preparing for it by making sure you have seed packets to put the seeds in and markers to mark them with.
I used to belong to a round robin on yahoogroups and it was as much fun anticipating it as getting it and adding to it. It is just a lot of fun all round.
I'll be getting my seeds ready to add to the box also. I have way too many to ever plant up.
Even if the seeds arrive too late for this years planting, they can be saved if stored properly.
I wish I was in a climate where I was planting already. LOL

Box Springs, GA

I'll be sure to let you know when the package gets here-I can't wait!

Fenton, MO(Zone 5b)

This will be fun, thanks aknapp!

Charleston, SC(Zone 8b)

Thanks a bunch for doing this aknapp :-) I too will be contributing to the box once it reaches me..

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

I have lots of seeds packaged and ready to add to the box when it arrives here.

Ruth

Leander, TX(Zone 8b)

same here. Fly little Robin, I can't wait to meet you.

Boulder Creek, CA(Zone 9a)

I feel lucky! High up on the list. I'm ready for da box! Is it going priority mail?

And I presume all the DGers on the list have a snail mail addy on file in address exchange.

Steve

Belleville, IL(Zone 6b)

When you are at the top of the list you get some good things, but even further down things have been added and you get just as much out of it.
There are probably address in the box.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Know what's gonna happen people? About a year from now, Alice is going to receive a tattered box with more seeds in it than it left with! Hardy Har Har!!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Alice - Did you include an inventory list? It would be alot of fun to see what goes around the country and how it changes as it goes along! (Can you tell it's my first Round Robin? Very exciting!)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Well, at that point, we'll just have to find a new box and send it around again! LOL!

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Excellent plan! The Continuous RR! LOL

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

That definitely IS a new twist, the Perpetual Round Robin! Gotta love it!

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Just think of it no more trying to find space to store extra seeds - storage will be mailed back to you before too long! Is there a round robin world record out there we can beat?

Boulder Creek, CA(Zone 9a)

I like being up HIGH on the list... an instant (well sorta) gratification thang! [Men!]

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Yeah, Perpetual Round Robin - great name! We can get a plastic shoe box when the cardboard one gives out. LOL

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Just think of all the add ins that you are going to miss, first may not be best in this one I am hoping that being towards the end will have great benfits.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Okay, no swapping positions allowed!! LOL

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

75154 you are right, if we keep adding there will be all kinds of different seeds, and aknapp may look forward to getting them back

Box Springs, GA

It just got here today,I will be sending it out soon:)

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

You're going to be up all night PLAYING!!!

Leander, TX(Zone 8b)

Oh yeah, have fun going through the loot!!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Make a note of what you send out, so when you get it back next time you'll know if any of the same stuff is there. I think this is fascinating. (Great, just what I needed - another addiciton! Now I can become a RR addict, just like my bud, sheran!)

Leander, TX(Zone 8b)

oohh sheran made me an addict as well. We can start a support group Sequee

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm thinking there's alot more like us out there! Hmmm, picture this...voodoo doll, picture of sheran, hat pins...

Nah...we'll just inundate her with seeds LOL!

Leander, TX(Zone 8b)

ooohhh can't breathe I am laughing so hard
