The Southeastern Flower Show is coming up in Atlanta, GA. I have not decided if I am going or not since I might succumb to buying racheting loppers or other such gadgets. I am obviously thinking about going.
You can buy a ticket early for $15 or buy a ticket at the door for $16 after using a $2 off coupon.

Southeastern Flower Show
Hello there atlr! Are you coming to the GA Roundup on April 23rd?
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/476525/
Also, violabird, pins and I are going to be at the Flowershow on the saturday. :) Maybe you can meet up with us?
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/483746/
Yep, we got our tickets! Don't forget Michael, have you met him yet Angie? I'm getting so old...
I could buy just about everything in the 'Marketplace,' this year I'll be the one wearing blinders and handcuffs.
Would love to meet you altr, hope you'll join us at both!
I always get something from No Longer Bound's booths. I go to their nursery in Cumming in the spring too. Deals like you've never seen. :)
oh, and this year I'm getting a catleya orchid. :) :) :) Last year it was a paph. and it's wonderful.
Is it the same as in past years where it doesn't matter what day you go on the one day ticket vi? I don't think you have to buy a 'sat.' or 'sun' ticket, right?
I just went to Walter's site to print out the coupon. It says photocopies of the coupon will not be accepted. How funny!
Angie, have you seen Sharry Baby? It is said to be one of the easiest to grow and rebloom, and smells of chocolate! Gave my Mom one last year, and had to get one myself this year--just ordered it here http://www.flowerscentgardens.com/oncidium.htm and will get it next month. Hey, look who else has it ;>) http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/70082/index.html
Hey Carmen, it's because of the bar code. Can't wait for hug!
Hmmm...Dacula eh? That ain't too far away...wanna go poachin'? lol ;)
I believe she's coming to the swap ;>}
The teahouse is fine with me.
Then 10:30, 11...
How about the area between the teahouse and flower shop to be more exact.
Haven't heard from Angie...will try to check in before leaving in the morning.
In the front door and straight back behind the tea garden. Got it. I'm shooting for 10am, which means it'll be more like 10:30. LOL But I'm antsy, so maybe I'll be on time for once.
Angie, did you find your orchid? Let us know which one you decided on. I had such a great time today with you, Vi, and Mike. I'm so glad Vi has talked Teresa into joining DG. I just hope she follows through (not one of her stong points, but she really had a great time today).
I had a great time myself! I can't believe we didn't get a shot of us (well, yes I can, I hate pics of me ); Sounds like Teresa will be coming to the swap at least, we can work on her a little more!
I must say that the 'English Tea' was the highlight of the day, eating all those yummies, (especially the cucumber sandwiches) while smelling the wonderful spring flower scents, and chatting was really fun, thanks for talking me into it :)
Yes Angie, we wanna see your orchid!
Hummn, where can we tell the neat news about the 'Messenger" folks?
I'm busy adding some pictures to the database, wish more had turned out better :( Did anyone else get some good shots to add?
Well I got AN orchid, but not the kind I was going after. I got a couple business cards though. ;) The one I got is a dendrobium that has bright yellow petals, except for the lip one, it's dark purple. It's only buds right now though, so no pics yet!
I wound up not leaving until around 6pm. I just kept walking back up and down the market aisles. lol Atleast I didn't get so much that I had to drive around to the loading dock! I got 3 of those metal dragonfly stakes Carmen, the silver ones. I'm going to put them all in a row like a family. I got a new painted pitcher for my collection. I got a pale green wire hanging basket that has fake crystals hanging from the bottom. I got one of Walter's books on veggie gardening in GA. I met a nice lady named Betsy in the book section. I gave her the dg info, so maybe she'll turn up! :) She's recently early retired by choice from the Weather channel and is into organic gardening.
I tried to go back to the tea garden to steal a couple shrimp puffs to stuff in my purse, but they didn't seem to like me reaching through the bushes. *shrug* lol
So nice to meet you Carmen, I'm sure we'll hang out again. Also nice to meet Theresa.
Vi, Mike, as always, a pleasure. :) I like the new haircut vi, very foxy. Oh, and Mike, let me know if that pollen comes out. lol
Foxy huh, maybe this old broad does have a few new tricks left ;>}
Wonder if Mike had to explain to the DW just exactly what he was doing with 3 women and pollen in his beard...
lol Yeah, I guess 'pollinating' wouldn't be a good answer!
I can't believe the implications.
I really did enjoy the trip and English Tea Lunch with all of you. Hope Teresa comes to the swap, I don't meet many people who have been to the places she has.
The book was great and the CD with it to. You can animate the growing of some plants to show all four seasons.
Hope to see all of yall at the swap. Might talk Vi into a trip to the "No Longer Bound" Greenhouse in Cummings. When are you going Angie?
Sometime on a weekend near my birthday, March 29th. Not sure yet. That'd be great if y'all got to go. That's quite a hike for you!
Mike, I never did ask, but just how did you get the pollen on your beard? lol Your CD sounds wonderful. I'll have to see Teresa's when I'm up at her house. Do you know she lives in Cumming? Let us know when you all go, and we'll make arrangements to meet there. Teresa's dd is getting married April 2 at Jekyll Island, so if you make it that weekend we'll have to skip.
Ya know, Teresa has travelled all over the world, much of it free, as it was job related. Then she got gazillions of sky miles so she could go to some of the other places, like Egypt (which she absolutely loved). The only bad part was when she had to go to places like Peru and they were having uprisings. There were times when she was scared to death of what might happen. Fortunately, nothing ever did.
Yep, Tell Theresa she'll have to come to the swap and bring her photo albums, or if she has some pics on cd, I can bring my laptop.
Angie, what's the Saturday hours at the nursery? Is it really worth travelling to? Ohhhhhh, just thought, if I drive, we get free gas, lol, Mike's no dummy ;>}
BTW, does anyone remember seeing the 'red fern'? I posted it here in the ID forum http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/489678/ thought it was pretty neat, does anyone recall the name?
I missed that completely. Where was it? It's beautiful! That's the kind of oxalis I wouldn't mind having.
It says sat 8-5 on their site, http://www.nolongerbound.com/greenh.html , but I think there are more hours in the free catalog we picked up. Did you get one? I know Mike did.
It's worth the drive for me to get new varieties of plants for 1/5th what I'd pay Wayside for them. But it's not that far away for me. 1-2 hours.
You know I don't know how I got the pollen in my beard except that Vi was saying smell this and smell this and I guess I got real close and got pollinated.
Will have to see if Vi is free around the time you are going Angie and see if we can get up there. It does not look all that far.
Vi, you driving?
