sarv, what do you mean flying down through the mtns. so you won't be caught? You don't mean these mtns, here do you? People seldom get caught here unless we have a freak really big snowstorm and that's usually years in between.
Julie, you robin looks like he's holding his foot off the cold ground and screaming "Yow, that's cold."
Coffee and...part 4 :-D
Hello again. Julie, he's trying to talk Miz Robin into heading back south for a while. One year they showed up here on a day when we were having a snowstorm, they must have been out of their little bird brains! They stood on a fence rail and I could almost hear Miz Robin telling him " I told you Freddie, it's too early, there are no worms".
I brought some yogurt-jello. Isn't that a pretty pale pink? Try some, and if you like it I'll tell you how to make it, well, maybe I'll just tell you anyhow while I drink my tea. Dissolve a package of jello in a cup of boiling water and let it cool, (do not add cold water) then add about 1 1/2 c plain yogurt and beat it with a wisk until you can't see any white. Pour it into a bowl and chill it. That's all. Fresh berries can be added to the top at serving time. I had my family eating yogurt for a long time this way and they had no idea.
Back to housecleaning, I'm getting there.
HI, MaryE-wonderful shot-wasn't that a magic moon? Thanks for recipe-sounds nice and mellow.
Darius-Florida ahoy-hope you get there soon to catch rays and don't have hassle with SS.
Kooger, keep chin up-regulations/paperwork #$*^#@ -nuf said!!!
Julie-don't worry-your desk and piles sound like mine-glad that you found the shells. Ah, robins in winter, I tried feeding some early birds one year-are they eating highbush cranberries.?
Sarv-glad that you weren't hurt-those icy roads are the worse thing- just the memory of my 365 on the highway gives me shivers.
Okus, we have a cardboard carrier for Casey, because she was biting the cage doors and risked losing the few teeth she has (she was a malnourished , injured kitty when we found her and she doesn't like to be in a carrier.
crimsonsalvo- make more $$ more seeds more plants-that's the group here's wonderful chant!!- taking bows for my rhyme.
Woodspirit-waving to you-any buds on trees yet?
M5-are you heading to Bakers Square for pies???
Well, I made an unthinking decision today when I went out. I could go to Murphy to shop, where I've been a lot lately, or over the mountain to Franklin where I have not been for a bit. I chose Franklin... never thinking about going from 2,000 feet to 4,000 feet and down again, each way... with an ear infection. By the time I realized what was happening to my ears, they were blocked up and no point then to turn around. Duh, what a dope.
So, everything sounds like it's coming in through a wad of cotton in my ears... Y'all will just have to SPEAK UP, LOL.
But, I got some goodies for baking so we'll see what surprise I may have for our morning coffee!
Whohoo! Just opened my mail. I've been approved for the pharmaceutical companies' program for free ongoing regularly required meds for people who cannot afford them! I've been approved for 1 year. I only have a prescription for 2 meds ongoing so far, and both are inhalers.
There is only one inhaler of mine available through this program, but it's the expensive one, $78 every 3 weeks. I won't get the first 3 month supply for 2 weeks or so from the County Public Health Dept. but the doc gave me one Monday while I was in the office so I'm set.
Ah, more answered Prayers. Thanks All!
Thats greaqt news Darius. Happy Dance time once again! HYPERLINK@northcoastcafe.typepad.com]
Carol
Carol, Thanks.
Y'know how every once in a while (if you are lucky) you get to see a live performance that transcends the ordinary and even the extraordinary? Well one of those times for me was years ago, a Broadway Touring company doing Charlie Brown (may not be the right name.) The young man playing Snoopy did the Happy Dance so well that 20 years later I can still remember how everything else on stage faded away while he danced... and the audience was mesmerized.
The Happy Dance remains a favorite of mine. :)
This thread is just FULL of good news...glad for all of you with the good news and joining Darius in the Happy Dance...on my sore feet!!
Sarv....you should time your visit to FL so you can attend the RU that Molly is getting together...it's not very far from Bradenton...and you'd have a blast. (psst....Molly...how far is it anyhow??) Darius are you going to make it to the RU?
I did a luncheon for one of our members of the Widowed Support Center today...she is having to move to Tucson to be nearer to her Son and granddaughters....she is gietting a lovely one bedroom apartment, with lots of luxuries...heated pool...covered patio, covered car port, and just accross the street from Tucson Medical Center....very highly rated medical facility. It's sad when we have to give up our home and move like this...but she will be missed.
Is the cinnimon bread ready yet? I'll have a cup of tea with it.../.Thanks! Jo
darius, don't get your hopes up until you actually get the Rx. We got a Pfizer card and when we got to the pharmacy, they couldn't find us registered when they looked us up in the computer. This was the 2nd card we qualified for and both programs were cancelled as soon as we got signed up.
The drug companies are playing games, trying to hold off the feared price controls when Medicare starts paying for prescriptions. I have since applied for a card that encompasses about 5 drug companies, but in the meantime, Pfizer called and asked me to apply for a 3rd program. I'm not sure who to complain to. The FDA or the FTA.
Well Jo,
I just checked it out on my little ole atlas. Hwy 70 runs right out of Bradenton, going due east, it's a straight shot over to Okeechobee City, about 4 1/2 inches.
Sarv, I think you should come too, Feb 19th. You would be our farthest commuter. It would be nice to see someone frm my home State too.
Molly
:^)))
Hey, Sarv... we might BOTH get there!
OOO Kooger save me some of that cinnamon bread, I'll have it toasted tomorrow morning...glad to hear someone else uses lard...I always have it on hand for pie crust. McDonalds used to use it for their french fries back in the day when their fries actually tasted good. Oh well, I shouldn't eat those anyway. Glad to hear Sarv survived her slide through the intersection...that's such a scary feeling. Haven't done it for years, and hope not to....they salt pretty heavily here, but I tend to stay off the roads if the weather is really rotten. Not worried about my driving but those idiots with a cell phone in one hand and 4 wheel drive SUVs scare the bejeebers out of me. 4WD doesn't do a thing for you on icy roads. Julie, I don't think those Robins are arrivals from the south, Mrs.Robin couldn't decide what to pack and they got a late start leaving.
That jello dish sounds yummy, I like jello but always forget to make it! I use lemon yogurt as a fruit salad dressing in summer.
Excuse me while I insert a whine, I wanna go to Florida too!!! Boy, winter is just the pits. Molly, four and a half inches isn't too far to travel, I'll bet FL is only about ... uhhhhhhhhh ...500" from Wisconsin.
Yep we went to Baker's Square, special today was a Philly Steak sandwich, I ordered mine without the green pepper (burp) and got mushrooms instead. Very tasty. For a chain restaurant, the food is pretty good. Thought about a slice of the Raspberry chocolate pie, and then ordered my slice out of a whole pie, and took the rest home. I'll bring some tomorrow, but I still want cinnamon toast first.
GOOD NIGHT DARIUS AND GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PRESCRIPTION CARD!! See y'all in the a.m.
A few more dollars, a few more seeds, a few more plants, that's all she needs. Doesn't that apply to all of us plant nuts?
That must have been an inspiration because I can't think of another line to go with it.
The lower kitchen cabinet faces all got a cleaning today, tomorrow morning I'll do the uppers before the house gets too warm. Also need to do the inside windows, and that means moving a lot of plants off the windowsills. It isn't often that the cleaning bug bites me so I need to take advantage of that. One windowsill has two hoya on it that are intertwined with each other and with a nearby spider plant that has multiple offspring. Can you tell I've been putting off washing that one for awhile, but I did do the outside one day before Christmas when the temp was above freezing. Housework sure isn't my passion. No Susie Homemaker here, that's for sure.
The dinner dishes are looking at me, and I have just enough energy to get them cleaned up and get me to bed. Goodnight all.
Glad I'm not the only Non-Susie Homemaker here, LOL. But when I DO get on a tear about housecleaning, Watch Out!
But even with inertia abounding, I like to go to bed with the dishes done. (No dishwashing machine here, just me.) I HATE going into the kitchen first thing in the morning and seeing a nasty mess of dirty dishes in the sink.
I'd say Goodnight, Gracie but I may not be ready for bed yet.
Hey Darius - congrads on the meds thing - it sure is a worry when things cost an arm and a leg. So far I'm not on any meds, but I'm sure the time will come - I can hardly remember to toss a vitamin down the hatch!
Yum - did someone mention cinnamon bread??? Never have any lard in the house, would cisco work?? I love it (bread)slathered with peanut butter.
wood- mountains scare me - such a long way to drop. We once saw a run away truck zoom past us and up one of those emergency things- scared the pants right off me. (I'm a real nervous passenger - do much better driving)
I think I need to take a trip to Sam's Club- they had some pots for 11 that were calling to me!! Anybody want to join me??? Maybe I'll stop for a gas station cappiccino (my favorite sin)

It's 56 here this morning. The heat came on once so far. I woke up at 5 and managed to snuggle back down in the blankies and sleep til 7.
I finished a 12 hour job yesterday in 7 hours. I can't figure that one out. The client have moved all the furniture, breakables and pictures out of my way. That helped a lot, so when you think of hiring a painter, look how you can save some money by taking care of these things. So my only work today is taking the wood back to the other clients house for the carpenter to install.
Well I will be out in the garden. I have good intentions of moving that Persian Shield into more sun, thinning out my bronze fennel seedlings, coriander and peppers. I have some kalanchoes that just got too big for their britches and they toppled over. I think I will make cuttings out of them and share them at the Fla. swaps.
Sarv, It's been over 3 decades since I lived in Michigan, but I gotta say my worst winter driving experiences were in Oklahoma City. I had moved to Fla to stay warm for the winter, back in 1977. As luck would have it (good and bad) the FAA hired me and sent me to air traffic school for the next 2 winters in OK. That wind always seems to be blowing out in OKC. A little rain and cold turns the roads to black ice. 2 times that first winter, the wind just grabbed holt of my car and threw me off course, spun me 360 degrees once and the other, I almost went under the trailer of an 18 wheeler. Back in those days, they dumped hot sand on the roads for traction and the only snow plow in town was kept at the airport.
Down here, the worst driving hazards are other human beings and the hard summer rains, in that order.
Well, I think I'll have my 3rd cup over in the chat room if someone is over there. See yall later.
Molly
:^)))
Hack kaff kaff .........phooey, woke up with a nasty cold, feel yucky, going to crawl back into bed with a book and cuppa hot tea, and a cat or two or three or...........Back later
I've started the new sequel over in this this thread.

I just woke up...nope...read that "I just got out of bed." LOL My fingers and brain haven't gotten it all together yet. Don't bother with the cup...bring me the pot!
Oh....ahhhhhhhhhh.....that tastes good.
I'll post my replies in the new thread as soon as I can quite yawning...
