I searched on ebay for plant seeds. Now I owe a certain seller money, LOL. It was cheap though, maybe I won't go bankrupt, LOL.
I am getting 800 Matthiola bicornus - Starlight Sensation from Denmark.
What's sad is I don't even know what they are! They were just so pretty and bloom at night and supposed to smell so good.
$2.98 isnt a bad price is it? That includes shipping.
When the seeds arrive I'll make some seed packs and send them to a few people here on DG. Maybe then I won't feel so naughty, LOL. Not taking DG names yet- Still finishing up some trades.
Anyone grow these? Are they spectacular? Please say they are, LOL!
Kaleem, if you wanna wait on your seeds I will send you a few of these with them. :-)
Shamefully and hopelessly addicted to flowers,
Jocie.
I did a bad bad thing.
This is a variety of night scented Stock..And yes it does smell good..I got mine at T & M ..Here is a link..You'll love it..

Larkie
Thank you Larkie! Looking now. hehe
Okay- I am buying some more when I get paied next. This is an addiction- someone should stop us!!! LOL
Man those are pretty.
Ebay is too easy! I always bid before I think things through.
lol- yes it is- so i have decided not to go back fora while! LOL
I've tried that and I find myself drifting towards the local nurseries instead! I keep telling myself that it's got to end some where.... maybe after I crowd my self out of house and home with plants.
Isn't there some piece of land around you could buy? LOL!
Bernie
I have started gardening in the neighbor's yard! She doesn't mind, as long as she doesn't have to take care of it.
LOL Sylvia!!!!
Micha, Bernie is right- buy more land when you run outta space!! LOL
I'm looking at the seeds that are starting to sprout here- oh lord, were gonna be over run. Didn't think we had much- but I'm starting to change my mind now. LOL
It's funny that you say that. I have REALLY always wanted to buy a lot of land and create a wilflife paradise! I wouldn't live there, I'd just make that haven for the animals. Lol, now all I need to do is win the lottery!
I have come to a conclusion that makes me feel better about going into debt for flowers!
We are opening a nursery and since you cant sell DG plants, we have to buy our stock. Sounds perfect! LOL
I have a question about DG plants though. I got an EE (at the swap or through the mail- I forget where and who gave it to me)- it has since put off babies. Now eventually I'll run outta space for all the babies. Is it rude/bad/not allowed to sell the offspring of the plants you get in trades? Should I just ask each person that I do a trade with if I can eventually sell the offspring? Just typing this makes me feel bad LOL.
I got some poppies recently on DG, from my sister and soon on Ebay- I was planning to just plant them all in the same field- I want to sell the future seeds from those I bought. I can't mark each poppy I get from DG though.
Maybe this is a bad question? Just been on my mind alot lately. Don't want to hurt anyones feelings or do them wrong.
-Jocie.
I've thought about this too. Especially since I want to start selling plants in the spring.
I wouldn't sell any plants that some one gave me in trade or sase or seeds. But I think it's okay if you sell the plants that grew from the seeds you traded for or propagated plants from a mother plant that you traded for.
It just makes sense, some one gives you 20 seeds of ....daisies... and every one germinated so what are you going to do with 20 daisies anyways?!
Cool. Let's see what everyone else has to say, lol- I don't wanna get run off DG! :-O with torches and pitchforks!!
Hmmm...I never really thought about it being bad to sell the off-spring of traded or gifted plants.
I think once the plant is 'yours' you should be free of guilt to do with it's babies anything you see fit.
I would think as long as you don't use DG as a place to aquire your propagation stock you'd be fine.
I'm selling a bunch of 'babies' this Spring....many of which came from parents recieved here at DG.
Marc
That takes a load off my mind. LOL Thanks guys. :-)
Maybe I overthink things, LOL.
On another note- some bad bad person outbid me on some lotus seeds. I was planning to share on DG too. Grrr- LOL
Don't you hate when that happens in the last possible second?!
Yes, I am still fuming over it. LOL
Regarding resell of DG acquired plants- I don't sell plants, have a nursery, etc. but it never occurred to me that would be an issue! For instance, if I had a nursery and had, say 100 of a certain plant. Then I traded 25 of them with 25 DGers for 25 different plants. To me that isn't acquiring your stock b/c who is going to offer ONE of something for sale in their nursery? If I put them in the ground and waited for them to mature/multiply and then sold the offspring, I think that's fine. Secondly, if you traded for it instead of SASE, I think that makes a difference. You are at least GIVING something in return. Now if I was getting with other resellers and we were swapping 25 of this for 25 of that from our huge quantities, I could see that being an issue. One DGer posted a story about someone asking for free seeds (kind of sent out a blanket request based on trade lists) then selling them. This person actually went to a swap of some sort and saw her seeds, in her seed packets, with her handwriting on them, all for sale! Now to me THAT is just tacky and wrong! I can't recall if she sent the seeds for free, or required a SASE for them, but either way that is just not right. I mean at least repackage them for goodness sake!
Now regarding Ebay... well I might be one of those people you are cursing. Ha! If I really want something, I watch it until a few minutes before the auction ends, and then I go bid if it is still at a price I am willing to pay. Otherwise, I use that maximum bid feature. For instance, on my showerhead that I just bought, I priced it retail, and then factored shipping into my Ebay bid. If it sold for that much or less, I would take it. So that is how I determined my max bid. If someone had outbid me, well, that's fine because I would have paid MORE than retail for it anyway. But yes, it is irritating to think you are going to get something and then people start driving up the price at the end. Grrr! But I thought that was part of the game! My husband laughs at me because I say I "won" this or that. He always reminds me that you don't "win" anything. You "buy" it! So true! I talk like it's a prize I get for guessing the right price. Ha!
Jamie
One more thing on that topic- I will tell you what I find kind of offensive and annoying. On my other gardening website, there is someone with an online nursery and they will occasionally post what amounts to an advertisement on the forums. But the thing is, they post it where it isn't even on topic! Like in the recipe forum. What? I pretty much consider that the same thing as SPAM. But I guess there are no rules about doing it. I'm sure they think they are doing us a favor- offering good prices on plant on a gardening website- but that just isn't appropriate, IMO. :)
"Bans Texas from Ebay" You outbid me!!! LOL Shameful, buahha. I believe the person had Texas in their I.D, you naughty naughty girl! :-))
At least I lost to a DGer and not some other unknown. :-P
(that way I know where to "borrow" the baby plants from when I go "visiting", muhaha) Shh, I didn't say that, hehe.
Thanks for your post TG. :-)
HAHA- OMG- she SOLD her free seeds?? That's just bad! How dense is that- didnt even repackage them. LOL
To everyone that get's free seeds from me- if you must sell them-do not forget to RE-package them! :-)) I'd be mad if I bought some new stock off ebay and it turned out I had owned them previously! hehe
Hey TX- if it was you that outbid me- I got some water lily seeds- wanna swap a couple? These are mixed colors. Some have striped leaves.
-Jocie.
Hey Jocie- I PROMISE it wasn't me that outbid you! Ha! In fact, my Ebay name isn't the same as my DG name. It's andyandmouse (after 2 of my cats). So don't hate me. LOL!
Hehe- darn! Was hoping I could get some of those seeds from you, haha.
