Who is near Cincinnati, Ohio?? Can you say Round Up??

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Tabasco, along with help from gardenwife and others is putting together a RU/get together, coinciding with our big annual flower show. For more details, see http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/461620/

I don't expect this gathering to be as big as some but it sounds like a whole lot of fun! This will be the first get together in this area. We are only about an hour from Dayton, 1 1/2 hours from Columbus, under 2 hours from Mayesville, KY, less than three hours from North Vernon, IN, less than 2 hours from Lexington and Louisville, KY, etc. I could walk to parts of Northern Kentucky. LOL I only point out these locations because those are a few places I actually drive to. :)

It is going to be awesome to see some old friends and I hope to see new ones as well! You'd have about three months to get it together and get here. So who's coming??? :)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Soooooo, nobody wants to come to Cincinnati, huh? booo hooo hooo It really is a neat city, 15 minutes from everything (well except a beach and actually we have a water park for that too. LOL).

I guess I will keep going...we are only about 16 hours from parts of FL, 10 hours from Iowa, about 5 from Michgan about 6 to Pennsylvania, 45 minutes from the Indiana line...somebody stop me!

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I'd love to come, but it will depend on my daughter's track team schedule. That is right in the middle of her outdoor track season, and most Saturdays have track meets scheduled. We travel to Ohio several times a year for dog events, it's really not a bad drive. If for some reason there isn't a meet that weekend, we will try to make it.
Deb

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

Your daughter is hoping that my daughter will come. It is only 3 hours on a plane she says. Lol

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL I think there might be a bit of conspiring. :) And yes, it is only about 3 hours by plane. LOL

Kylertown, PA(Zone 5b)

I would consider it if you are inviting Pennsyltukians.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Are you messing with me??? I'd have given you a personal invite if I had thought there was any chance in the world! LOL

Deb, I am sorry! I missed you up there! I would be thrilled to see you if you can fit it in! I am hoping we don't have any soccer tourneys around then. I guess I'll have to prioritize. LOL Who do you think will win???

Crossville, TN

Hi There Badseed Long time no hear from me :) When is this RU gonna be not too far away to come see ya Have missed you last few RU's
Hope all is going well

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Hey, Chele! Howie and I are really looking forward to it. Don't let any disinterest in attending the flower show deter you -- the park shelter is reserved for the whole day and there will be folks just hanging out there and visiting as well.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey Donna! It would be great to see you if you think you'll get up this way! Seriously long time, no see no chat.

I probably won't go to the flower show either. I have been before and I would rather spend time with pals. :)

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Wow this is getting better and better all the time. I plan to be there. Donna where you been hiding? Good to see ya online again.

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

Only 6 hours from Chicago, too! and 2 hours or less from Indy. Of course, everybody is invited! ...And Louisville--where is that? t.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Woman! I would LOVE to come up there and meet you but this is the same weekend as the GA roundup..

:((

Zone 6, OH(Zone 6a)

There's a slight chance I might show my face. We'll see.

People won't be up in arms and kick me out if I bring no plants or don't bring the exact plants people are looking for will they? LOL Just thinking about another thread on here where folks are getting bent out of shape about trades gone bad. All I'd be likely to bring are some grasses and anything else that's spread too much for my liking - so I'd want to rid myself of it. But I suppose one man's junk is another man's treasure. If I DO come, I won't mind contributing a small cash donation to cover whatever expenses someone incurred by arranging this.

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

Well, hc--I wouldn't worry about the trades...this is supposed to be low key, low pressure, but Fun! t.

Zone 6, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL...ok. Well at that time of year, the chickweed will be going crazy. Maybe I'll just bring some of that? hehe JUST kidding. If I come, I'll try to bring something worth having. :) I always seem to have tons of Black Fountain Grass babies...

Gosh NC, you snot! I see you sitting there with both hands in the air. Hold up one and Say GA, hold up the other and smirk and say Ohio. LMBO It would be so neat to meet you but I think my GA hand would win too. LOL

Hey Jon! Bring your mug and your lovely wife and that sweet boy of yours and we'll call it even. :) I think I'll be "hosting/moderating" the plant swap. Normally people prearrange trades if they know they are going to have a bunch of something extra. Also people will offer to divide or root things if they know they will have time and decent weather. Others just show up with tons of something hoping they will get rid of it. LOL Others only come for the people, the ride, the scenery, whatever. So you see my friend, you can do as much or as little as you wish. Just show up!!!! Hmm, guess I can't pawn a dozen Moudry off on you. hehehehe

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Howie and I probably will not bring any plants to trade and we don't expect/want to bring any home. Shoot, I have some plants received last summer still in pots..I don't deserve more, LOL! Any more, we're more into swapping stories than swapping plants.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

I wanted to meet all of your youngin's Michelle!! Their so cute!!!!

But yea, a 4 hour ride vs an 8 hour ride.. hmmmm

Hard one to decide! LOL!!!

Nicole

Kylertown, PA(Zone 5b)

Well, I just talked to my husband about this, and it sounds as if we are going to try to make it out. He does business with some companies in and around that area, and he said he could just make it a business trip and we could fly out on Friday. He could visit customers and then maybe we could come to the Roundup and fly home on Sunday.

Neat, Inda!

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

No, this isn't my garden--it's what I want my garden to look like! ;-) (It's a picture of a park in Cincinnati.)

Next picture is my garden--so you will know why I want to get to the Plant Swap! Will anybody just sell plants?

LOL I think my whole yard is looking more like the second pic right now!

Anybody want to see pics of my deck covered in greenhouse parts or the muddy pit I call the back yard??? ;)

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

Yes, yes, come on Badseed. I want to see your greenhouse. We are eating ripe tomatoes from our GH now.

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

B., Yes, yes, keep us posted on your green house project. I am so excited for you! Will you give tours the RU weekend?

And yes, I want to see pictures of your mud. Ours backyard is like a swamp. (I'm sick about the bulbs I planted back there.) Today the sun is shining and it's drying up a little....your little girls can almost go out and play if they're feeling better and your mud is gone...mmmm....won't it be nice when Spring really arrives?!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

We're just muddy. Mud, mud, mud. Muddy paws, eight of them, four times a day. :P But at least today it is sunny and smells of the coming spring. :)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

You do not know mud until you have seen what six kids in a grassless back yard, plus two dogs and a cat that is an escape artist, can do to white tile in your kitchen! LOL As soon as it dries up some, I am headed out for a bobcat and sod!!!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Hey Badseed, you probably should go ahead and BUY the bobcat! Probably save you money in the long run! You could take it to the roundup and give rides - $5 a ride! LOL!!

Kiss those sweeties for me! Mine is still giving me the WHY? question on everything! Even why? to his own why?

LOL!!

Nicole

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL Nicole! If I had space in my garage, I would buy a bobcat! I could do some serious resurfacing if I owned one. :) I got lucky last year and my construction neighbor brought home a dingo (like a bobcat) for the weekend. Of course I didn't get my turn until after I dug my pond by hand. It DID come in handy to fill in my other pond though. LOL The old one was like 11x13 with 3 levels and a plant shelf. I really had fun with that machine! I really am going to have to get one to finish levelling out the yard.

There will be NO visits to my house or yard unless I get that sod in! You have never seen a bigger mess in all your life. I have the old pool hole, part of my tropical island bed is still rocked with a few plants, we still have not gotten to the deck and 90% of my back yard is a mud hole. LOL

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

haha!

When we moved in our house and started planting trees I was pregnant. Anyway, there was a lot of equipment around for the other houses so one of the guys let us use the 'trac hoe' to dig 2 holes. He dug the first one and then let me haul my big butt into the thing and I got to dig the second one. I loved it!!! I felt like an evil cartoon character with the hahahaha evil laugh! Now I tell my son he's ridden motorcycles in mommy's belly and been in a trac hoe! lol!

I will stop hogging this thread now!

Nicole

Good luck on the sod! I know you will LOVE it - my neighbors from years ago did sod and it was instant heaven!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey, it is MY thread and you can HOG away. oink oink

I bet that was a sight to see! LOL I built my kids a playground when I was about five months pregnant with number three. It was like 60 feet long and 25 feet long. I had to build a timber wall down one length about 5 timbers high. Then I had several tons of pea gravel brought in, plus many rolls of landscape fabric. I did cheat and use my tiller to break up some of the dirt so I could move it easier. My husband did help on weekends. LOL Then we built one of those big playsets from the DIY store. My neighbors chewed me out on a daily basis. I told them I was pregnant, not dying. LOL I can't stand to be hot and can't stand clothes when it IS hot. I always work in a sports bra and shorts or swimsuit and shorts. My midwife always cracks up when my belly has a big tan mark across it. :)

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

ROTFLMAO!!!!! That's hilarous!! Yea, I got a lot of - don't pick that up! - when I was pregnant. I can imagine after 3 or 4 or 5! it would get REALLY old... Especially because shouldn't people realize by number three that you just MIGHT know what you're doing? LOL!!!! I would love to have seen you pushing a tiller preggers in a sports bra and shorts! :) You go woman!!!

Nicole

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I am sure it wasn't pretty, but I got the job done. LOL Oddly enough, all those people that chew me out for working so hard-NONE of them usually offer to help. That is funny!

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

well, girls, I'm lurking here....maybe you two could do a reality television show about being pregnant...you would get great ratings....

Zone 6, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL (that's all I can say!)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hehehehehe! And how was it from the sidelines Jon???

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

The show's name could be 'Desperate (Pregnant) Housewives'...Or have they thought of that already? ;-)

Zone 6, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL....you want the truth? A little embarrassing! I guess I blush easily in public! You two are crazy. It's a good thing you both won't be in the same place at the same time. Look out! One thing's for sure, I know it would be a good time and nobody would go home without a smile on their face! Since I'm not the big social butterfly, I like to sit back and watch if there's something fun to watch and somehow I bet you guys would sure be a site! LOL

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL I sort of like "Nine months and Building" (things most won't attempt while pregnant). hahaha I would be afraid some would do dangerous things and that would be bad. I guess women are different. First time moms are usually different. I just don't have time to sit still. :)
