Baa wanted to see some of my terracing and the Papowawa (patio, pond, waterfall, waterfall). I have posted some of these while the Papowawa was being built, but not sure if I ever showed the finished product.
Landscape shots
What a beautiful space you've created with the Papowawa! I love the colours and shapes in the tiles. Looks like you've got a good sized space with your terracing, more raspberries is definitely a must *G*
woodspirit - wow, that really looks great.
Baa, they're not tiles, merely stained concrete. The stain was added to the wet concrete. I think he used chemicals that are normally used to make glazes for pottery. He made a grid of wood to guide him with the shapes, turned it over and repeated it all the way down the patio.
The retaining wall is built from river rock, but the color is a bit washed out in the picture.
Stained concrete? Wow it's very effective!
I'm glad you like it. I never know what he will do next. He is enlarging the deck now, which overlooks all of this. In fact, the picture was taken from the existing deck. I wish treated lumber wasn't so expensive.
I can imagine you sitting out there on a warm evening enjoying the view.
Ah, yes, the view goes down to the bottom of this hill and then up at a mountain called Hogback, lol. The rest of my property is all trees and wild rhoderdendrons and mountain laurel. I don't know if I'll change it, though. Baa, I only have .4 acres, not big acreage like I did at my other property. The extreme west coast and east coast are heavily populated and not as much land available as the middle of the country. In these areas, land is very expensive, too.
Beautiful pictures! Would love to see more. :-)

trunnels, later when things start growing again, I will post some picks. We have added some more steps up to the top of our property, Poor spousal unit made 77 steps out of concrete and/or rock......
What a hard worker he is! Yes, please do post more in the spring. I'll keep this thread on my watch list! :-)
Me too ! .. I wanna see more also.
Looks mitey nice woodspirit1 .. Mitey nice!
I'm always interested (and encouraged) .. as to how others are treating their 'tiered' property - landscaping, that is! Very impressed with what you guys have done there with yours, for sure. I know you must be some proud of those wonderful feats and accomplishments !!
That crafty design .. in that 'merely stained concrete' .. is jes wonderfully and boldly beautiful !!!!
I see you're using the terms 'wild' Rhododendrons AND Mountain Laurels .. I'd've sworn I'd seen something posted somewhere here on DG, that they were one in the same(?) .. I know we had Mountain Laurels back in Louisiana - but have planted some Rhododendrons here on our place here in AR, for the first time (early this past Fall) .. And they certainly don't appear to be the same thing. Reckon I'm jes gonna have to read up a bit more about them. .. hee .. Certainly learn something new most everyday ..
I'll be keepin' tabs on this thread also ..

They are definitely not the same. Mountain Laurel has small leaves and smaller bloom head which look a bit different. Rhoderdendrons have much larger leaves and bloom heads. I love the buds of mountain laurel. They looks like stars.
Betty, taking down all those trees sure has opened up lots of space for you. John has done a wonderful job!
thanks darius. It was only 3 big trees and a lot of brush. One thing it needs badly is some everygreen shrubs. I have a couple of small ones started but need to do something more about that barren look in the winter.
woodspirit, your landscape shots are beautiful.
