Be looking for articles and shows....
Valerie Easton of the Seattle Times gave us a nice writeup today: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/gardening/gardenplanttalk.html
I'm excited about the Seattle Times writeup - that was a really nice 3 paragraphs about PlantScout that she wrote.
dave
hehehe...the part I REALLY liked (in reference to PlantScout) was...
"and because it's created by gardeners for gardeners, I'd guess the botanical and common-name searching will be more efficient than on Google."
Can ya'll say, "Yeee-haww!"
Uhh huhh .. sho' nuff can ...
YEEEEEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWW YALLLL ..
.. and .. ' hot dog ' .. to boot! ..
Way to go DG .. !!
- Magpye
Um...Terry? That should be "Gainesville Sun" in Gainesville, Florida.
What a great article!
Amaryllisgal, you're right - good catch! Luckily that (mis)information was only in my spreadsheet and not in anything I sent to the news staff ;o)
Good! I'm looking forward to Saturday's gardening column - hope we get a mention!
We definitely want to hear from you-all when you see or hear ANY mention of DG, the Plants Database, Garden Watchdog or PlantScout in the news. But we know that writers and garden show host producers have topics lined up weeks - and sometimes month - in advance, so we don't want anyone to get discouraged if it doesn't happen this week or even this month ;o)
The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's online newsletter "Wired Gardener" gave the Watchdog a nice mention in their January '05 issue: http://www.pennsylvaniahorticulturalsociety.org/garden/wired.html
(This wasn't one on my list of contacts for PlantScout, but I will be touching base with the editor ;o)
You are doing a great job Terry! It can be so difficult gathering that information. So glad people are willing to help you out with it. I'm sure it helps you tremendously!
And our own Paulgrow writes a column...here's his recent wonderful writeup (say that three times fast!): http://www.thenewsherald.com/stories/122604/lif_20041226022.shtml
Wow, that's quite a write-up!! Kudos to Paulgrow and DG! (It's a wonderful white-up - can't say it 3 times lol)
Good goin', Paul! Perfect!!

I clicked on that Seattle Times link and what I got was her article on Deer Proofing the garden?
Terry...what a great job you are going!!! On behalf of all of us out there... Mahalo nui loa (great big thanks)
Carol
Carol, my guess is that the article has been archived elsewhere ;o)
Dave was interviewed by Bob Hill and Jeneen Wiche of WFPL's "Home Grown" radio show - it was broadcast this past weekend. (I listened to the online archived version last night: http://www.wfpl.org/homegrown.htm - good job, Dave!)
great interview!!!!
I just listened to the interview and I am awe struck by it. It makes me so proud of Dave and everything that he has provided for all of us. I don't want to forget Terry either. We know what a great co-hostess she is for the site and we couldn't have a clue what all she does to help make our wonderful site such a marvelous success. Dave handled the interview beautifully (of course). Not so much as a stutter or an uncertain sound to his voice the whole time.... Such an awesome interview!!!! Maybe the man needs to run for president sometime in the next few years. I have heard well known politicians that didn't handle interviews as well as Dave did. Do I sound proud? If so, it is because I am just about as proud as a person could be. Good job Dave and all.
Good Job Dave, Paul and Terry. Donna
Thanks for that link, Terry! How kewl to hear 'our' Dave while continuing to surf through the Forums and PlantFiles. *grin*
Somebody might have already said this but I got my Select Seeds Catalog and on the front cover it has "Garden Watchdog Top 20 Company!" I thought that was pretty cool. Now off to listen to Daves interview.
Just listened to Dave (after that museum guy finished) on the radio link. cool
Dave mentions 'new database features' that sound exciting.
And if you really plan on doing this for another 30 years, Dave -- you rule!
I loved it! Felt like I was right there!
So exciting!
Great interview, Dave.
Hey Paul...wonderful article...and good advertising!! Jo
Thank You
Paul
Two I spotted today:
The Tugwassah Tattlah (from c-c-c-c-old Maine)...
http://www.franklinmaine.net/Gossip%20and%20News/News_and_Gossip.html
and from sunny Hawaii, the Star Bulletin News: http://starbulletin.com/2005/01/18/news/story7.html
I enjoyed those two links, Terry. Thanks! Really fun publication in Maine and the article on Lanikaiguy and his palm was fascinating.
Check out the number of new members in Maine in the last week!
None have subscribed, but a few notes of welcome might nudge someone to take the plunge.

Here's a nice write-up that's appearing in today's Delaware Online: http://www.delawareonline.com/newsjournal/homegarden/backyard/01272005.html
Just listened to Dave's interview. Outstanding! I hope he has more opportunities to do this in the future.
FYI.....I picked up a copy of the Early Spring 2005 Better Homes & Gardens "Garden Ideas & Outdoor Living" magazine at Home Depot a couple of weeks ago and in the Grapevine column they mention the GWD. I don't have a scanner otherwise I'd post it here. It was a blurb really, but sure caught my eye!
Oh, that is too cool! I'll try to snag a copy and see if I can get it scanned and posted. (The scanner's in a box in the hall closet, but we'll see....)
Terry, where is the article within the seattle times? I can't find it from the page that comes up when I click on your link.
I'm afraid it's been archived or deleted. (It's the unfortunately ephemeral nature of the web ;o)
