My word, Karrie, that is a precious kitty, lucky owner, huh?? It's a shaded silver Persian right???

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

well these pictures are all just wonderful!!!!!!! i'm going to post another picture of franklin today. he is playing with a little teddy bear that was sent to him, as a thank you, for running the christmas pet exchange. her name is grayse-bear after her giver, grayse the cat, who lives in louisiana with her momma grayse2. i teach franklin all of his toys names and it is amazing how he remembers them. ok ok, i do get bragging rights though. ;)
this is a picture of franklin during one of his lessons in grayse-bearalogy.

ok one more, this is a goody. above i posted a picture of franklin reading a card. this is the gift shot, after we have opened and taken the ornament out of the packaging. gemila, momma of aggie a 9 month old westie, sent us these wonderful ornaments they made. they are clear round balls and in them are pictures that she downloaded from here at dg and printed onto a clear platic. one of the pictures, she added a christmas hat. she put the pictures into the bulbs and they have a stained glass look to them, as you can see.
Franklin is wearing a scarf that i made for him several years ago with glittery fabric paint.
When franklin is wearing his bandanna down low like this he reminds me of a cowdoggy. ;-D by the way.........he can sit begging like this for the looooooooongest time and he was because he wanted that ornament and i wanted the picture. i did and he didn't. well he sniffed it a lot and helped me put it on the tree. ;-D
merry christmas everyone.

Gemila, that is really cute. Love them all.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Gemilla -- Aggie is beautiful! Is she a West Highland Terrier?

Debi -- Franlin is adoprable! Love his pose with the bandana!!!

Ada -- its because they know you too well...and know that you wouldn't let the puppy go hungry. The thing that bothers me is that you're the one taking care of it, and no doubt getting attached. I worry that if they ever move, you will lose her...

Decatur, IN(Zone 5a)

I couldn't resist, here is the other I took.

Gemilla -- Aggie reminds me so much of a "white" version of Lanny. Lanny has a stuffed camel, her "baby" and she uses it as a pillow just like Aggie. So cute!

Thanks Gretchen, he'd look better if I had brushed his hair before I took the pictures but I wanted to catch the Kodak moment. Aggie is a boy. DH is a proud graduate of Texas A&M and so we named the pup after the Aggies. I wanted to call him Angus but since the kids & I had to talk DH into buying us a dog, we figured we'd let him name him to help DH bond w/ him. This is DH's first pet, can you believe it?
Oop! forgot to mention he is a West Highland White Terrier.

Ada, I'd talk to the neighbors. Chances are they don't even want the pup anymore & would gladly give it to you. Our neighbors were the same way with a kitty they got for their girls (5 & 3). They fed it the first few days and later ignored her and didn't look after her. The kitty wandered the neighborhood for handouts until one neighbor asked for the kitty and they gave it to her. The parents aren't animal lovers and the girls tire of them easily. They've already gone thru a puppy, and three kittens. Currently they just got a puppy and I wonder how long it will be before they give him away too. You might even tell a little white lie so you don't get them on the defensive but you can say something like, "people in the area have been asking me if this is my dog otherwise they will call the aspca because they think it was dumped or is being mistreated. In case you don't want her, I'd be happy to give her a good home." This could scare them into thinking that others have also noticed they don't care for it and maybe get afraid of being reported and start caring for it or perhaps and hopefully let you have it.

Gemilla, your little Westie, Aggie, has the silkiest looking fur! Just like Gretchen's, Lanny. Lovely dogs!

I have a feeling this is going to be tough picking a winner since everyone has such adorable pets. I guess I'm partial to Aggie because he's mine but I really like the others too. Lanny looks like he has such a sweet personality. It comes thru in the pictures.

OldFlowerGirl, Westies have two coats, a wiry outer coat and the silky soft undercoat. I do his grooming and am no expert. The best way to groom him is to hand strip the coat but that can take hours for an expert, it probably would take me a whole day. I actually tried to do a bit of handstripping but felt as if I was pulling his hair out, I guess I wasn't doing it right either. So intead I bought some dog grooming sheers and did it myself. I've been learning as I go, this was the 4th time I've done it and each time has been a challenge trying to groom a wiggly dog. The buzzing sound makes him nervous and he doesn't care for the scissors either. I also do his nail trims. I would have loved to have gotten a dog like Lanny but I have three kids ages 5, 4, &2 so I felt that a smaller delicate dog wouldn't be a good idea. I love bulldogs but can't afford them. Actualy, I like alot of breeds but after much research, I felt this breed was the best for us at this point in time. This is a picture of Aggie on his first day home from the breeder. He was almost 7 months old then.

I forgot to mention how hard it is to keep a white dog looking white. I tried using Mrs. Stewarts bluing in the rinse but I haven't seen much difference. Here is a link to my post regarding that; http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/459854/ If you've got a reply on that matter, please post it there. Any advice is always welcomed. Thanks!

Kell, I'd just like to say that I love my Westie. Most Westies like to be with you, following you around. They don't care to be picked up and carried around like the toy dogs but I guess I would just advice that you do some research on any particular breed you plan on getting. I actually learned alot from the breed rescue groups. They mentioned over and over why people would buy an AKC breed because they were cute or pretty and didn't pay attention to what temperment the breed has. Then when the dog acts like what the breed is supposed to act like they tire of them and take them to the pound. I actually looked around the pounds before just hoping to find a Westie to rescue but didn't find any. I was lucky to have found the breeder I did. A few others I talked to wouldn't give me the light of day just because I have three small children. I guess they thought I'd let my kids torture the poor pup. Overall, everything worked out for us. I'm sure the right dog will walk into your life when the time is right.

This photo was taken just before his haircut & bath last week.

Oh Loretta -- Elvis has such a cute grin!

Gemilla -- Lanny is tough as nails! She's a typical Terrier in that regard. She weighs between 10-12 pound, so she's a little larger than a Toy, but she does love to be carried. The very best thing about her is that she DOESN'T shed. Silkey Terriers only have a single coat, very similar to humans. No undercoat, no dander, no odor. She gets a bath every Friday by me, and once each month she goes to the groomer for a trim. We keep her short -- they have very long hair...You can stroke her for hours and never have any residue on your hands. She's a real joy!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Elvis is a cutie too. Love the name.

Moscow, TN(Zone 7a)

K-I love my Shiz Tzu and Poo because no shedding but once a month grooming is about right. I just love Terriers, they are so smart. Thanks Brugie-He ain't nothing but a hound dog!.

Here is my Bluebird with her lavender bow to go with the lavender wrapped packages my daughter sent. She dances very nicely but I can't seem to take the picture at the right time. Donna

We loved our ShizTzu. I especially loved the fact that she didn't shed at all.

Donna, she is adorable with the bow.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

I love this thread and all the photos ... they are all just too cute.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

I surely enjoyed looking at all your darling pets. We do love our little guys don't we. Of course if it is a large dog or a cat they are loved too. Blue doesn't shed and goes to beauty shop?? about every 6 weeks as Lhaso Apsos have very long hair. Will surely be difficult to choose a winner. Donna

Moscow, TN(Zone 7a)

Blue is beautiful pup. Looks like she loves to pose. My Shiz Tzu llikes too also. The lavender matches perfectly.

the last few minutes i've been sitting here going...ooooooh, aaahhhh, oooh so cute, ooooh so precious, what a cutie, ooooh ahhh, oooooh, oooh ahhhhh. LOL so folks i think they are all absolutely adorable, wonderful, cute and i'll take one of each.
gemila i love your captions for agie.
kell the first cairn terrier i saw was on the eukanuba dog show. they are suppose to be a wonderful family pet. how large is your brothers?
imcanadian, now that is a great christmas photo. good job
rutholive, blue is adorable. i just want to pick her up and give her a squeaze. i bet her and franklin would look adorable together dancing. :)
lanny looks so sweet there with his camel. i didn't know that westies came in two sizes. ;-) franklin had a westie girlfriend for years. she has since moved to florida. what a sweeti she was, but oh could she get a puss on too, if she was upset with you. you knew it and she could be stubborn. my girlfriend said it was indicative of the breed. but it was part of her personality and made her that much more lovable. she had the softest & gentlest kisses too.
elvis is a hoot in that costume. the other side of franklins scarf says "our little elf". of course i tell him he is a good helper to his momma, but the truth be told, he is only a good helper because he doesn't get into mischief. LOL which is a good thing.
mickey meese is a good helper too. i'm glad he's found his true potencial in decorating consulting. ;-)
thank you everyone for the great picture show and telling about your sweeties.

Actually, how do you pick a dog to get? They all are too cute and I would not turn any away from my door!

I even like Badger! LOL His coat is so glossy!

Franklin is sure cute. What kind of dog is he?

Roger IS a Cairn terrier!! DUH to me. My SIL told me his color is a rare one and was quite an expensive addition! He is an armfull but still small. A little bigger than I want. I was thinking of getting a yelper. Gretchen your Lanny looks smaller. How big is he? Lanny looks like a stuffed animal in your pic.

AlohaHoya, I will defer to Loretta on that. She is donating her artwork for prizes. But if she thinks it would get too confusing to have people submitting other people's pets, still post it but not for the contest. My post of Gabby was not for the contest. I did not have the foresight to put a ribbon around her neck way back when. LOL
