to cute Monika. Hope kitty was o.k. Gretchen. My little brother swallow a needle by accident once. Mom got him a new shirt and he put the pins in his mouth as he took them out then pulled the shirt over his head and inhaled one. When he told my mom she thought he was joking and wasn't going to take him to hospital. He kept insisting so she took him and sure enough there was a straight pin in his lung. Straight to surgery they took him. They were able to get it out with a magnet on a tube they ran into his lung. He was very lucky they didn't have to cut him open. How many time have we all put pins in our mouths???
Your Pet and Christmas Picture Contest!!
Oh my gosh, Donna! That's very scary. Not only was he lucky that they didn't have to cut him open, he's even luckier that he didn't get bacterial pneumonia from it!
Bailey was my "hell on 4 feet" he was beautiful Himalayan, all cream with brown points or tips, or whatever you call them, and beautiful crystal blue eyes. I had to watch him whenever I was doing counted cross-stitch because I could tell he was fascinated by the needle (it was a very large, dull needle). One winter about 6 - 7 years ago, evening I was sitting in my den working on a Christmas present for my Mother. The telephone rang and I got up to answer it and get a drink of water, leaving the project on my chair. When I returned a few minutes later, the needle was gone! I looked around and there was Bailey, under my desk with it sticking out of his mouth! I lunged for him, but I was too late. He had swallowed it. I rushed him to the Vet. An X-ray confirmed that his gut did in fact contain my needle. The vet decided to keep him until he passed it, which he did, and was fine. Unfortunately he was hit by a car the following spring and it broke my heart... That was the last cat I've had...
I played with Irfan View Kell lol
Well, this isn't Christmasy but this is my new pup that the neighbor's daughter thought she had to have. They paid thirty dollars for her and haven't bought it the first bite of food. They've had her almost five weeks and she's been here since they bought her home. They never check to see if she has had food or water or if she froze to death. It makes me so mad for people to think they want pets and never take care of them. She's such a sweetie. I bring her inside at night so she won't freeze. The little girl named her Chocolate.
She is so cute. Thank God for people like you who watch out for our little friends.
Shirley, the sad part is I gave her a dog house, fence, sweaters, toys and even bought food and they wouldn't even open the cans for her. My DH even rigged a light inside a pipe to give off some heat on the cold nights but they just aren't interested in this little pup and she's such a smart little puppy. Griselda is missing so much fun with her while she's still a puppy. She needs her shots and needs to be fixed when she's old enough.
They are all just beautiful!! There arent enough words for all of them. How very proud yall must be of your fur friends! Makes my heart light to see all the beauties and sweet pictures.
She is a gorgeous Pup, ahelms. Such a shame that they have neglected her. Does this mean that Chocolate belongs to you now? I hope so. I think you are her only chance to survive and have a happy life.
Oh Ada -- she's so adorable! What a shame that Griselda no longer has any interest in her. Her parents should make her take responsibility... Looks like Miss Ada has another doggy... Lucky you! Where on earth did you find that cute sweater? I never seem to find the cute ones like that....
Ada file a complaint with animal shelter or SPCA. That way you can take her from them if you want her or they will take her and give her a good home. Even my big dogs stayed inside in winter and in and out the rest of the year. I just keep them all bathed.
Ya'll be honest with your pics, ok? I am not going to mention names, but someone entered a pic of a pet in another contest that wasn't their own, and is all over the Web. I've had it sent to me twice now via. emails. YES, it is cute, but it didn't belong to that person. The last person who sent it to me wasn't even a DG member, but a friend from Australia through Yahoo. Go figure.
Just a heads up! :-)
ROFL The things people will do to win a prize!!!!
I've been honest with my pics. I know that Bummy lives with me, because I have the scratches on my nose to prove it. LOL
I hope that no one on DG would post a pilfered picture of a pet as their own over a contest. :(
Pets are as precious as our kids, members of our household.
That is the cutest dog ahelms. I don't understand how anyone could neglect a beautiful dog like that.
Ada, your puppy is too cute. And she sure looks like Christmas to me, with her red Christmas sweater on and with your Christmas spirit surrounding her!!
Monika, Minka can see you better in the dark than you can see her! LOL
Isn't that the truth, Kell!
Karrie -- that's terrible! Was it a picture from this thread? If so, please let the real owner of the image know so he/she can notify Dave and Terry. I'm guessing that you've already done that...
Ada, I am so glad, that you gave this puppy a real home. He is so cute! I will never understand, how people are able to do something like that.
Oh yes Kell, Minka sees much better than I do in the dark. Each night, when I turn the light off, I hope, she would be nice and sleeps because it is dark but she finds everything to play with which she is not supposed to find lol
I usually sleep with 3 of them on my bed. What I hate most is when they decide it is bath time just as I am falling asleep.
I really think I want a dog.
Oh, man, they're all *so* adorable!!!
ahelms, I'd take that puppy in 'a hearbeat'!!
The winner, in my book, (although everyone's are fabulous!) has gotta be moonlighting's kitty!! That made me laugh!
(I'm still trying to figure out how you got kitty to stand still long enough to take the shot!)
My little dog (another Harley!) is incredibly camera shy....I mean he 'cowers' when he sees it coming his way!
Loretta and Kell, this is a great thread and I know that I for one thank you both for having this contest. The person that wins the grand prize will be so lucky to have such a nice framed picture, but the prize really is having all of these pets as our own. They give us so much pleasure, even if they can be ornery once in a while. LOL! Thanks again.
Where do you guys find the cute Christmas frames?
Shirley, I use ArcSoft Photo Impression. It is the program that I use to download my digital pictures to my computer. It has a feature that allows you to creat frames or cards for your photos. :-)
Thanks Donna. I just checked my camera and it doesn't have anything I can use. Guess I'll just have to continue to use one of the photo programs I have. Heading off to see if they have anything cute.
Thanks Brugie. Thank God for Loretta. I was looking at my brugs wondering what one I should give as a prize and she saved me with her artistic talent!! After your fancy pink Brugie, mine are not so exciting.
I hope we get lots more pictures. I just love looking at them all. I plan on taking pics this weekend of my living Christmas tree ornament. LOL
I know Loretta should have some really great pics of her babies all done up. Maybe she will come up with an outfit for my featherless wonder so he won't be so cold! LOL
Old Flower Girl, your kitties are so great. I just love cats! Except for last night. We brought our 4 in for their shots and it was $200.00. And we have to bring them back in 2 weeks for a repeat booster for another $160.00 because we missed one year getting their shots. It was not only so expensive but such an ordeal for them and for us too! Do you think we were taken?
Gretchen - the picture in question is not in this thread. I sent you an email.
It was from a former contest, and didn't win anyways. I hope the person who posted it truly did take the picture, and if so, "congrats - it's famous and circling the World Wide Web rapidly."
Karrie
No wonder my cat looks so fat, lol! He's part Siamese! Has the little Head and HUMUNGO body - however he is gray with a little bit of stripes (almost tabby like, not total - must be the mix). I'll post a pic of him when I get a good Christmassy one (like him trying to help us wrap or something - he just loves to wallow on our wrapping paper as much as he likes to wallow on our bed when we are trying to make it). We call him Mad Max for a reason. :-) I just love him - sweetest best natured cat I have ever had - too bad we got him fixed - he's good breeding material when it comes to fun and sweet.
Beautiful cat, Brinda. Donna, I love your Callie. I think I should be a pet sitter for you guys. LOL!
Your kitty is so cute...Karrie
OldFlowerGirl is that a Sphinx cat or a Cornish Rex in your second pic??
Both of my cats are Devon Rex. They are tinier in size than a Cornish Rex. Devons have a "pixie" face with big eyes, big ears and a tiny heart shaped face. They have wavy coats with very little undercoat so really like to stay warm. But shed very little.
Such cute pictures of everyone's pets.
Gretchen, you'd think the parents, two older brothers and two uncles who live there would worry about the puppy but no one ever checks on her. She's laying here sleeping at my feet. She has a full stomach and now it's her nap time. LOL
thanks piclady! but like I said, it wasn't my pic - it was emailed to me. What a cuddly little baby!
I had a Cornish Rex but the pixie face threw me that's why I was thinking Sphinx then. He was always cold and used to sleep on top my old gas stove that had pilot lights. Just knew one day I was going to come in and find a dead cat on my stove if the pilots light ever went out lol.
I have never heard of Devon Rex cat. Very cute. I have always wanted a Ragdoll cat.
My best cats ever have been 2 who adopted me when they were adults. I have one of them now, Gabby. She is my baby, never too far away from me! Funny too Karrie, for she is part Siamese and has a small head and dainty feet but a huge fat body. She is 15 pounds.
