Lauren, thats a real challenge, fern spores, my ferns grow wild, and have little "cocktail onion" looking root, and spores too I guess. This is some of my "weeds". They are still growing.
Seed Snatchin' V... Show Us Your Stash!
Hanna, what kind of treefern is that?
Oh sugarweed, that look's like spore heaven!
Annie those are beautiful! What's that purple plant on your first pic? I want that!!! Bad bad bad...
Nicole
Looks like Mexican Sage. Hardy to zone 8. I had a beautiful batch of it this year but if I don't mulch heavily, it probably won't make it.
:-(
It's definately worth a try, Nicole. Your almost to zone 8 and probably all you would need to do is mulch really good. I got mine at Walmart in the spring this year and it got HUGE. Even if mine doesn't make it this year, it would be worth it to buy another one.
Nicole, I am trying like crazy to get seeds off my Mexican sage. The last few days of 32 and lower have done some damage to the poor thing, but if I get any, I will send you some. The hummers love it. It's by our walkway to the drive and always pause to make sure we aren't distubing anyone's breakfast.
I was going to take a picture of my embarrassing stash, but my son has my camera taking pics of his new daughter. I managed to get the drying bowls basically put away, and my DH came in with another huge box. "What are THESE?"
heee hee! Thanks ladyannne! Would love some if any make it!!
It is SO funny that you just posted b/c I just was reading another thread you posted on a while back and I thought, "Where's Anne?" wondering if you were OK or if you got left behind on the last thread! Funny how things work.... REALLY!
Nicole
I am here, just not up to par of late. Give up on me not, lol!!
Not a chance! Hope things go better to get you up to par!!!
: >I>)
Whoops. : )
Hey! That looks like a bird face! lol
I'm just trying now to get seeds from some of drying flowers, if I succeed I would love to send, also, I was able to stick some stems in the ground! I believe that Fern is Maiden Hair, I grow about 7 different ferns, so far all doing great! Have never tried to get spore, if you know how and what to do, E-mail me, my front yard looks pretty much like this all year, lol, think of Spring, spring, spring, LOL, Annie
Eeeek! I am succumbing to Zone Envy!
That is a lovely gathering of friendly flowers there.your roses are just great. Hoping to get mine that way
Thanks so much, zones are subjective, aren't they? LOL!
Great pics, guys! It's so great to see all the different climates we garden in. We northerners are into virtual gardening mode, with only the toughest seeds to harvest over the winter. I have a few things I leave on the plants to let them stratify outdoors before harvesting... in another month or so.... otherwise, I've got to look at the pics you post and sigh!
Great gardens ladies!! Wow!!!! Well I got to meet Sugarweed and Ivory this weekend. Snatched daylilys, mondo grass, roses, etc etc from Sugarweeds moms house in Charlotte. I took pics but havent' had time to load them yet.
Sat I planted a small area full of bulbs and pansies for a co-worker. He paid me too! Made $80 plus he let me keep all the 6 pack containers we salvaged and the flats! Have pic of that too.
I had a great gardening weekend! It was SO great to meet Sugarweed and Ivory too! How cool it is to get to meet other DG'rs!!!! Well post more later.. Gotta work now - ick!
Nicole
Well, now I'm really jealous, NC! I've yet to meet one DGer in person except the ones in Seward I recruited. I'll bet it was really fun!
It was! I think it's so neat to meet folks in real life that you've only spoken to on DG! Not to mention had Snatchin' permission!
Well Weez your part of the world is on my list of go-tos one of these days! I'm sure it will be years and years from now but... there are so many places I want to visit and re visit...
Well, I'll have the coffee pot going for you when you get here, NC! We'll do a walk-about in the yard. That would be such fun! I've tried making contact with some of the subscribed members from Anchorage, but without much success. Anchorage is only about 120 miles from here. I'd have to fly to Cordova or Junea. Alaska's a big state.
I've been kicking myself all morning for not getting a picture of NC's 2-3 yr old digging with my Ukon Jack. It's a very short handled serious round tip shovel. He was so cutee and dug a plant "For you Mommy."
I was happy to share since none of these grow well in my Fla yard.
hee hee! I don't know WHY I didn't pull out my camera either.. It was in my car!!! Oh well I did take a pic of my stash once I got it home though so will be able to post that.
Maybe Santa will bring my little one one of those shovels! It was so neat! Are you back in Florida ALREADY? That was one busy trip!!!
Weezingreens, you tell those Mooseeesss to stay in the woods when I come! I'm way too clumsy to play matador!!! I bruised my arm badly putting my son in his car seat yesterday then turned around and ran into a door getting up this morning! The only black eyes I've ever had I gave myself! LOL - unfortunately that's the truth!!
I'd be moose leavin's for sure!
No, I'm still in Charlotte, had to oversee lawn work, etc.
Oh! Nice weather huh? ick!
I'm not sure how I missed the turn? There were no updates in the threads I was watching and looked in forums and saw this.
You know if it'd help, I do have a moo-moo (guess that's what they're called) in my closet that belonged to my sister. I 'snatched' it from the back of her bedroom door when we were cleaning out her apartment after she passed away.
So if it'd help justify my presence with this merry band of snatchers, I do wear that dress thingy... once a year. On the anniversary of her passing in July, I get my moo-moo and cool shades on, open the garage, crank up the tunes and wander around the yard with a beer talking to the plants and Pam and daring the neighbors to say anything. :)
this was outside of her apartment. I had to put it on because Mom and my sisters were trying to steal it from me.
HAHAHAHA!!! You are a hoot!!
Blaine, we didn't mean to ditch you. I promise. The moo-moo is definately NOT required. LOL
Actually, Dyson has been on the hunt with us for a while.
So where's your stash?
gosh, did I leave a bunch of you guys back there? So sorry! Love the moo moo.
You can't have it and I think the confession was 'kind of' on topic since it required an olympic class "snatch and pull" (over my head before the others took it away and tossed it but then it'd have been dumpster diving)
I'm laughing so hard, now I got go Weeeeeee!!!! sorry 8ft, I thought you were with us, they left me there again too, did you guys see his last thread on the other site?? snow!!
OMG....thunk.......ROFL!! moo-moooooo
oh 8ft that's classic! I must say you look lovely in the moo moo. LOL!
I'm sure your sister is touched and amused by the tribute as she watches over you.
yeah, at least someone appreciates it, The DW won't even come outside on that day. :)
This was her birdhouse a cousin built for her and mounted on a fence post vintage 1937. I brought it home, hollowed out the little alcove and after scattering her ashes at lake Michigan (she loved the big water) now keep her urn there. She loved flowers as well and has faily good view.
Love the birdhouse and the story!
Gorgeous yard by the way!!!
