I have the book too.I just never seem to get any farther than putting down the newspaper. It did kill the grass under it, so I planted poppies there.LOL.Jody

I did one last year and am doing another this year. It worked beautifully. Do you have questions? You can do a search in this forum and get a lot of ideas.

I don't really understand what lasagne gardening is. Can someone explain? I looked it up and still didn't get it.

You start with layers of newspaper then grass/leaves/straw,ect.And what you are doing is layering. That's why they call it lasangne gardening. It saves from weed pulling too.LOL.Jody

Lasagne gardening, basicly, is sheet composting. You first place a weed barrier such as cardboard or newspaper to stop weeds from growing. On top of this barrier you layer organic material - weeds, grass clippings, leaves, animal manures or other materials you would use in a compost pile up to 2 foot thick. You wet this down as you would a compost pile and in the spring the bottom layers of this should be broken down into compost. The success or failure of this method hinges on having the proper materials and moisture content to create a composting environment. In the spring you seperate the resulting composted material and plant your plants.
