A Virtual Terrace Garden Tour

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

I went last week to visit my little sister in TN. She
works for a lady who owns a shop on Main Street. The lady also
lives in a little apartment behind her shop. To get to her
apartment, you must go thru a courtyard she landscaped on Main
Street and go down a hall between her shop and another shop. She
has landscaped the hall with potted plants and planters. There's a
gate at the entrance of the hall and about midway down the hall is
an arch.

This terrace garden was so spectacular back in the summer when I saw
it that I thought it should be in Better Homes and Gardens. When I
went back last week, I remembered to take my camera so I could snap
pictures. You guys just have to see this! It's incredible! Here's
a link to my album:

I have a hall that runs between two parts of my house. In the
spring, I'm going to completely redo it. I will make an herb
garden there and I want it to look similar to this terrace garden, with
planters on the walls filled with an assortment of herbs. I'll have
raised beds on each side of the path and fill them with an
assortment of herbs and perhaps some cherry tomatoes too. So y'all
save herbs for me. I'll need them come spring!

Enjoy the pics.

Thanks for the pics. I love the artemesia spilling over the walkway.

Hixson, TN(Zone 7a)

OMG that is so beautiful! I love it, it reminds me of New Orleans or Charalston or Savannah for some reason! Oh thank you for sharing!

Cceamore, that's exactly what I thought. Something from New Orleans or maybe Paris. I was so impressed when I saw it. And by the time I took these pictures, she had already carried in some of the plants that used to be there. The whole thing was just engulfed in plants during the summer.

I recently built an atrium attached to the side of my house, and I utilized some of her ideas. The wall of the house is completely covered in plants. I have about a dozen planters nailed on the wall with plants cascading out of them. And my atrium is crammed full of plants with only a pathway to travel thru it. The gardens you just saw were my inspiration. Just incredible, isn't it?

Thanks for the photos. It's amazing to me that someone can put all that together and it is so gorgeous and when I do it, it looks like a cluttered mess.
