Which Lily are you eagerly awaiting bloom of next year?

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

boojum - others may be like me - I haven't posted any pics because I don't have any that are my own. But you could go here are see most one the ones that have been mentioned. http://www.thelilygarden.com/index.html

Steve, YAY. Picture! I can definitely deal with butter yellow. I like that one lots!! Thanks for the info on it's progress over time! Georgette is an orienpet so it'll bloom a bit earlier than my orientals but I hope not too much cause I'm mixing it with Arena, my oriental. My house is white and Arena was white with maroon and yellow centers, so I decided to throw in yellow to the mix. I also added russian sage because the blue looked so good as a backdrop in this photo. Hope it all works. But they are all beautiful individually even if my timing's off. Here's Arena, oriental lily.

Here you go Boojum....Asiatic Chianti's in my yard, Bloomed in late May/early June here, which is pretty late for an Asiatic for me, so would probably be July for you.

Thanks Boojum....I like your "Arena" a lot! Sounds like you're doing a great job with your lilies as well. You do what I do...experiment and see how it all turns out :-)

Does anyone know what this lily is? Obviously an oriental...I forgot to label it and I can't remember it being anything I ordered. What's more, it was the first Oriental to bloom for me....this pic was taken April 24 of this year, which seems awfully early, even for here. looks kind of similar to boojum's "Arena", though I didn't order any that I can remember.

It does look quite a bit like boojum's Arena - but I thought they were more up-facing (?) Very pretty though.

Steve - as you posted that you've bought from BD Lilies I checked there..... Could your mystery by Golden Zephyr??

Or Lavender Mist?

Or Harbor Star?

Do you buy from other lily sources? That's always my first clue on where to start looking on an unknown.

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Thanks langbr and Moby....I tried looking through their site as you suggested, and I couldn't figure it out. I thought someone with a better eye than I had might recognize it. Thanks, langbr, so much for your effort and the links. I saw some that looked similar, but could not find one that was as downfacing as mine. I have bought from other sources, but tend to like B&D the best...they have performed the best for me. I did order some from thelilygarden.com this year, so we'll see how they do.

Very nice, Steve!

Hey Brenda - with all those lilies, we have to pick Steve's brain a bit!

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

Oh Steve, I am so envious of you. I had Silk Road for 2 yrs. before it succumbed to our winters here.
Most lovely lily.

Maxine

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Lovely lilies! I can't wait to see all the new ones bloom next year. May I please just skip winter? Spring--here I come!

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

That Silk Road is lovely. I hope to be able to get it this coming spring...

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Thanks all :-) Maxine and fsr ....are you having trouble finding them? I can help if you'd like more.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Oooo, Steve! Offers like that will rate you LOTS of new friends! LOL

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

OOPS! LOL always glad to help out a gardener in need, Moby :-)

How's this for a bright Asiatic? April 18. Excuse the yellowing Hyacinth foliage.

Those are dwarf Asiatics, Steve? Butter Pixie or Sun Pixie perhaps?

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

Steve, thank you for your kind offer. Perhaps we could trade? If you are interested in a trade for a silk road... plmk... :)

Wanda, If you figure out how to skip winter... I want to come, too. :))

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Brenda...I think they're "Pisa" lilies....these were about 2' tall. OK Starr..lemme see what I can find :-)

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Maybe we can just crawl in a dark cave and hibernate until spring. Sounds like one of those 'lose weight while you sleep " diets. Skip the snow, skip the ice, skip the whole darn thing!

Ps. Wake me up for Christmas!

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

What about turkey day? You don't want to miss out on a day of feasting, do ya?

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Santa likes to stop by our place for cheese, crackers and summer sausage! He really likes it! ;-D

I hear you Taz....where did the year go? Where did FALL go? I just realized today that I've got to get busy on Christmas shopping as we're going to DH's parents in New Mexico this year and we'll have Christmas with my Mom a week early!!! Yikes! 36 days and counting for me!!!!!

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

Well, Fall went by really quick... think we could get lucky and winter will go by just as fast? .. NAW.. pipe dreams...

cheese, crackers and summer sausage.... sounds good... but you forgot the wine... ;)

Taz, what lily is he supposed to bring ya? If you say bah humbug, then he brings sticks...

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

LOL... just checking...

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Turkey Day is easy this year--Only a table full. Sometime in December, I will host the whole crew: brothers & sisters, their kids & grandkids. I think about 36 at last count. House gets mighty small at that point, but the kids can play dress up in the basement & the teens can go upstairs to get away from us older ones. Mom can just sit on the couch and look confused.... It's ll her fault anyway for having 8 kids to start with!

There's more of us, but this group all lives here in town.

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

I am the one now that set on the divan and looks confused at Christmas. I look around at kids and grade kids and go where all these (&^%$@##$$people come from . i get every ones name backward its a age thing use to get so mad when Mom called me by sisters name well i went one step further i call sons daughter name. My daughter took over at all the Christmas fa -la -la because i quit and now at 47 she trying to get her DDI to do it next year . Its fun when young , work after 20 years or so but its for the kids well more for me .love to watch those little faces look at piles of gifts and SAY IS THIS ALL ?

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

My shopping will be easy this year--I just put meat/cheese/fruit baskets together for my brothers & sisters & Mom.

One daughter wants $$ for Christmas to pay off the debts she's run up the past two years in college. I get cash & package it in interesing ways. The younger daughter wants a new guitar. And We'll buy a couple little things for them too. I'm getting lazy in my old age.

Bill & I are getting new living room carpet & small gifts for each other.
usually end up with a mounded mess of paper for the feretts & dogs to play in.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

We play charades at all family happy gatherings. We hardly eer get the Teenage words though. Things like Tragically Hip (a rock band).
Lots of fun though. Most of my prezzies are books. Kids are each getting books of their photos as well this year. I'm getting rid of still more 'stuff' around here.
Inanda

Elkhart, IA(Zone 5a)

My Christmas wish is that we could just enjoy getting together as family and friends and forget about the gift exchanges.

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

I'm not allowing the gift exchange at our big family gathering. Too many people and some are on limited incomes. Bring food & laughter and cameras--that's enough for me!

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

Steve, just saw your posting about the Silk Road. What did you mean by helping me find it ?

Have you recd. B & D's on line lily catalog for 2005? Lovely bulbs.
Oh you are far enough south that you might want to check out their extremely large bulbs that they are offering the southern gardeners now.
Too late for me.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Maxine
