McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

Beautiful picture of the Ozarks Nadi. I have not been that far north and into the Ozarks. I have been to the Ouachita Mountains in Arkansas & Oklahoma, but not up there yet. I am sure I will get up there eventually too. My daughter's friend from school just moved to the Bentonville area and wants to go visit.

Siloam Springs, AR

that is the view from mt. magazine, the tallest point in NW arkansas. we are about 10 min from there.
we live in the ozark mountains and that view is what we see everyday.
our town in a small town that looks like mayberry.
the town has about 9,000 population and 2 rivers running through the center of town. we have a university here as well. John Brown University. we are about 30 minutes from fayettevile, U of Arkansas and about 1 hour from eureka springs (the buffalo river). Best trout fishing in the world.
every where you look here that is what you see.
if you have never been to NW arkansas, its worth the trip.

whats funny is when i lived in texas we would come here for vacations alot.

half the population here is native the other half is from Texas and California.

go figure...

we are building a new house 3200 sq feet on the 10 acres and we will have 7 bedrooms for all our friends and family to stay.

so come on up any time and i'll put the coffee on and the fly fishing rods out :)

Siloam Springs, AR

we are about 15 minutes from bentonville.

bel aire thats awesome! not sure what that would look like mixed with a bus or a beetle, maybe a ghia???

My best friend's new place in Oklahoma is a little more than half way to yours - she is on the east side of Lake Eufaula. Maybe one of the weekends when I go up there, we'll have to take my daughter to Bentonville for the day and have you show us around the Ozarks. :)

Taylor, TX(Zone 8b)

yeah, baby!
I have a '74 bus I drove for 5 years before crashing. I am considering making it into a playhouse for my kids...in the garden, of course.

Siloam Springs, AR

thats too funny!
i have seen some weird stuff done to vw's. i want to turn my bus into a rollin' plant stand. if i don't stop buying all these seeds and plants from these crazy co-op people i may have to live in my bus down by the river ;)

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

OOOh, I love the ghia convertible Nadi. I am a small person and have always wanted a small convertible for a fun car. I always admire classic Porche, Cobra, Alfa Romeo and ghia other convertibles.

Pflugerville, TX(Zone 8b)

Now here's an idea....ya know how they have progressive dinners where each course is served at a different person's house? We could have a progressive road trip......start out at my place near austin....drive up to DFW to pick up sweezel.....head to Melva's place NW of Denton, head of sweezel's friends place in OK and then on to nadi's in AR for dessert :-)

Taylor, TX(Zone 8b)

well, we would have to start at my house then! i think your house is on my way in that direction. (Taylor) but I could be wrong.

never heard of progressive dinners, sounds interesting.

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Hmmm... just saw that this forum was started. Cool! I think we may take over DG now that they gave us our own forum!

Y'all are talking about HOA... I live in a historic district... that's like a HOA on steroids! Not only do you deal with the psycho neighbors analyzing everything you do, but the City of Dallas sites you for everything since we have our very own city ordiance to abide by. On the one hand I'm glad we have it or things would look really bad down here. But on the other hand, we have some freaking Nazis in our neighborhood that get ridiculous.

It looks like I will be odd man (woman) out here- I have absolutely NO desire to live out in the country. Maybe b/c I grew up in the boonies in Midland! I also think west Texas is pretty, so I suppose that makes me an oddball too. Ha! We go to my inlaws who live near Talahina OK up in the mountains. My parents live kind of out in the country near Durant OK. I like to visit for about a day or two then I cannot WAIT to get out of there. Maybe I have ADHD or something? HA!

Gotta run- glad this forum got started! Staci- we still need to do lunch since I can see your building from where I'm sitting!

Jamie

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

Hey, I am a 5th generation TEXAN...and wouldn't live anywhere else...lol..I have 15.8 acres of wooded land and 4 acres of semi cleared land that my grandparents had their house built on..I own it now...and I do drive a BIG yellow school bus..Hey, when time does that progressive dinner start?..lol...

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

nadi- Siloam Springs...my name is Nadine too...lol....

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

So nice to meet all of you Texans! Hi, Jamie. Do you work downtown? I'm in One Fountain Place. Which historical area do you live in?

Do you all know that some of us are meeting at the Lewisville Plant Swap Saturday? It would be great to get more of you in our area to come, too!

Nadi,
When you get that 7 bedroom house built, let us know. We can all load up from this area and come to visit you!

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

I think the progressive dinner is kinda like what Jo (roadrunner) ends up doing sometimes. It seems like she sometimes visits 2 or 3 DGers in a day. That would be cool to do.

I agree about lunch Jaime . Maybe we can talk Terrie into joining us next week since she works down there too. I can probably see your office window from the conference room (my second office, because that's where I eat long lunches reading the paper). It's the first round window just to the left of the right side (100) entrance. LOL

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL Terrie, I took forever to reply and there you were before I finished. She works in the newer building southwest of mine.

I agree Jamie! I don't know if you ever checked out the link I sent, but you need to join us Saturday. It might rain, but quite a few of us will be there.

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

Yep, rain or shine!!!

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

Me too John. You should have seen me in my bright red rain jacket last spring. If it's raining, you will know how to find me. Check out this link and I bet you can guess who I am. LOL The one next to me is my best friend who came with me in the spring. There is a pic of Melva on this page too!
http://www.thetexasgardenfairy.gardensweb.com/spring%20plant%20swap%20pics.htm

Siloam Springs, AR

i will let y'all know when the house is completed. we are still finishing up the shop so it may be a while before it completes. but when it does.... let the party begin!!!

we can send the guys off fishing and then have a fish fry.

moodene. i have only known 1 other nadine in my life. it was in 3rd grade when i lived in pittsburg, tx. for a few years.
nice to know you.
have you meet many nadine's? it is a very old school name.

i don't know where it came from, i was adopted and know little to nothing of my real parents or family. no one on my adopted families side has the name.

i go by nadi and have for years now.

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Trunnels- I am in the pink "crow" building on the corner of McKinney and Pearl. Where Sambuca is now- same parking lot anyway. We (I work for Crow Holdings) sold that building but people still refer to it as one of ours. :) I live in the Winnetka Heights Historic District in North Oak Cliff. Just south of Kessler/Stevens Park.

Staci- I am paranoid about using all my PTO days at work so I always end up w/ a lot of days left over. Soooo, I am taking every Friday from now until the end of the year off. Well, except this Friday b/c we are having our pumpkin carving contest. So I am free any day next week except Friday. I did get your email re the plant swap and was going to go, but now we are going to visit my parents in OK. My husband is in school so when he tells me he has a free weekend for something like that I have to take him up on it! He is at work, school or studying ALL THE TIME!!!! Oh well, in another year and a half it will be worth it!

Anyway, LMK what y'all wanna do.

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

I remember that red rain coat!

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

I didn't realize how bright it was until I saw that picture after the swap. I was pretty surprised that I stood out so much in those pictures. LOL

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 7b)

I am so glad there is a Texas site! I just recently came over from GardenWeb... this place seems much more relaxed! Several of us broke off and made our own little club on Yahoo. I have been telling them about Daves, and how much I love reading and planning my next purchases! I can't wait to tell them that Daves has a Texas site now! Thanks Dave...

Here is a piece of our little obsession...
