Recently, I found two chrysanthemum and a hydrangea. They had been gifts for an occaision of some kind, and thrown away when they began to wilt. -They're all doing beautifully in my yard. I don't know their varieties or if they're cold hardy.

Hey, good for you! They're *probably* not hardy, but some gift plants are. I got some mums that were once. Don't you just love saves like that? :o)
