I hope the bud stays on for you. I had only one that made it to bloom out of three full flushes.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

I'll keep my fingers crossed,my eyes crossed too!!!LOL!
Iv'e heard this one was a difficult one to come to bloom, but I didn't know the buds fall off once they were already on the plant!!
Honey,where's the super glue!!!!LOL!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Lookin' good! Hope it makes it to bloom time.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Keeping my fingers crossed also that the buds will open for you.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Hib,and Mon,thanks,is there anything I could or should do that might help to ensure it to bloom?
Just noticed what I think are so more buds coming on too!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

If you don't get a quick weather change, might stay on. I even bought tomato blossom spray, to try and keep mine on, didn't work, along with many other things I tried. I still have 3 plants, but don't even know why........

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I had two plants this year and only had one bloom, so mine met with Mother Nature and the frost. Double Peach may only be a double skirt, but at least it blooms, so I'm sticking with it.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I have some HG seedlings, so, maybe they will bloom same dbl/triple/color, but with good genes that will keep the blooms on the plant.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

I brought it inside last week when the temps dropped to around 36* .
40* weather didn't seem to hurt them any,so I hope they stay on,now I see several buds coming on.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

We'll be watching. Hoping you see blooms.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I'm wishing you luck too
Mine got as big as yours but the buds all fell off....
bummmed me right out

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Tropicman, dont expect her to keep all the buds so you will not be dissappointed, when they fall off.

Hi Don! I'm so glad that you are getting buds on the plant I sent you. I have buds right now too, and one of mine is blooming as we speak:-)

Here's an inside shot:

I'm dragging mine to the computer so I can say
SEE
thats what you do with buds
Not drop them!!!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

LOL, Crestedchik! It appears that this is the time of year that HG wants to bloom. A few of my other friends also have them now. Maybe it likes the cooler weather?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Clare, the one bloom I had was something else. Mailman was here when I tore it apart and it had seven skirts and no sex organs at all. She was definitely a frilly thing.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Wow, Shirley! Seven skirts! Cool. I'll be tearing this one apart in a day or two, or maybe I'll try to pollinate the next one that blooms. I have about seven more buds on her.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Yep, we couldn't believe it at first. I thought three would be it.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

That is truly amazing, Shirley. Did yours turn a nice orange color? How dark did it get? Do you happen to have a pic?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Mine was darker than your picture, but with age, yours will probably be the same. I didn't get a picture because we got a frost that wasn't supposed to happen and the day I picked it, it wasn't all that pretty. It was about the color of this double peach that I'm adding here.

Wow! That is a beautiful color on your double peach! I'll see how dark mine get and post a picture. It is cooling off here, and rain is expected. I don't know if those conditions will affect the color or not. Thanks for posting that, Shirley.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Thanks monika for the warning!
Clare wow!looks good to me,even if it doesn't get any darker.
Brugie,in my day it was the milkman!!!LOL!
Well I guess they both have the same motto, thru sleet snow and rain, they must go on!!LOL!
CC,I'm going to print Clare pictures and hang and the branches,so they can a real close up to see!!!LOL!
I'm wondering now should I take her back outside, for the weather is going to nicer, and she's been in the greehouse almost a week now, nite time temps are in middle 60's in the greenhouse and low 40's outside, what yawl think?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Don, I get the joke, just wanted you to know that "Mailman" is the username of a friend here at Daves.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Don, I would leave her in the greenhouse. I think she will drop her buds in the low 40's. Night temps in the middle 60's seem perfect. She survived the rain last night. Here she is this morning:

Here's another shot:

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

That is about as dark as mine was. It was nice color, but again, I can't mess with something that won't give me more than one bloom a year. Nice pictures Clare.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Clare,looks darker to me too!
Brugie, you reckon they might just get better with age?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I don't really know. What I do know is that if they do get better with age, it is a slow process and I'll pass on taking care of a big plant another year for another bloom. LOL! You grow 'em and I'll look at your pictures.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

LOL your the expert, your name says so!!!LOL!
Passing the buck huh!LOL,Well I'm not afraid to cry!!!LOL!
Heck I'm a stubborn ole man!!!LOL!
Wife says that I'm stupid not stubborn!!!LOL!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Thanks, Shirley and Don. Here's some more pictures this afternoon:

I do think she is getting darker each day:

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Almost as orange as buuterfinger candy bar,my favorite too!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

LOL, Don!

Well, this isn't pretty, but Shirley was right. There are a whole lot of skirts and no sex organs at all.

Thumbnail by Clare_CA
Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Makes it pretty hard to pollinate, doesn't it Clare? I wonder why this is happening. I'm beginning to think that this particular brug has more than one problem. Maybe it should never have been released. Guess we need to zero in on making a better one. LOL! I do remember that Liz and Jeanne had it bloom fairly well for them in BC. Could be it needs cooler weather instead of the hot stuff I thought it needed.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

LOL, yes it does:-) Don, I think you're right that it likes cooler weather but not too cool. I have more buds about to open so I will check the others. Apparently, some flowers have sex organs and some don't on the same plant of this one.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Wow! A naked picture!!!LOL
Well keeping greenhouse around 65* at nite 84* during the day,and it had dropped into the high 30's before I brought her inside,I'm sure it was the cooler weather that set the buds into the making, but now she is use to warmer nite temps,I'm afraid to put her backout to the 40's temps.
Thinking the buds will drop!
Brugie,I'mwith you on why they released it with this fault of dropping the buds so fast!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Don, mine set buds when it cooled off a little, but it hasn't dropped below 50 here at night. Maybe the shorter days triggered the buds? I don't know what did, but it seems that people who are getting HG buds are getting them right around now so it must like this time of year to flower. I definitely wouldn't put yours outside again, Don.
